13 years later and - I Love my band

Wow thats awesome to hear. Any advice for people who recently gotten the lapband surgery.?? P.S thats awesome youve lost so much weight. Congratulations!
  2. Happy Friday!! So I am approaching my 1 year post Lapband appointment and am happy to say that I have lost 74 lbs and am so happy to be seeing my doctor. I still have some ways about 40 more pounds I would like to lose. But my starting weight was 264lbs and now I am down to 190. To all the newbies and those just getting out of surgery the experience was a challenge but well worth it, but go for it and give it time to reflect. If it wasnt for the Lapband I would still be complaining about my weight, but I am now I am finally smaller than my husband😄😄

  3. Hi Chinchillamum! So update I infact went in to see my Dr. and I requested a 1cc and she did but it was def too tight. so she took out 1/2cc. And I was fine, so the information she has given me was straightforward and I needed that. So basically if you are eating your favorite foods, snacks such as cakes, icecream, caloric juices, candies, chips, pastas, breads your defeating the purpose from your goal from the beginning and she said you want to just avoid that. Thats not going to get you anywhere, and you will gain weight which I did. So she told me to focus on eating nutritional meals. Roasted Chicken and veggies. Fish and veggies/fruits. Take your time eating like literaly. Chew your food for about 30 sec and wait about 2-3 mins till your second bite. She said our minds are new to this and it's still adjusting. And when you have old habit foods in your home all your doing is tempting yourself, your still vulnerable to these foods so what I have been doing was learning and listening to my body. Timing each meal. (35-40 mins to finish), drinking a protein shake in the morning, lunch I would eat a tuna pouch packet if still hungry with fruit like banana or a strawberry. And dinner soups or sometimes a salad that I thouroughly take my time on. Also started being more active. I go walking as much as I can. But this has helped me out alot and today 6/5/2020 I weighed myself and I lost 8lbs since monday the 1st and I am happy. This def leaves me with more restriction. And also I had to get rid of anything that would temp me to eat sweets, and snacks. Omg. you dont know how much that has changed. I have no bread in my home, no snacks only popcorn. And just adjust as you go but I would talk to my dr. if you really need a fill or could it just be more of an adjustment stage. Do you snack alot? Eat sweets/ candies?
  4. Only my husband knows and my kids are clueless as to what a weightloss surgury was. LOL But after months of the listening to families talking about my weight. OMG your wife has gotten big, or your wife should go to the gym with you, I even had my neighbor approach my husband has your wife always been that weight before. I was already in the process of the weightloss surgery already and noone knew still dont and I cannot wait till my remainder 70 lbs come off so they can kiss my ash lol! But nope I do not even think of telling them, Then the insults come in. OMG she used weightloss surgery, she couldnt lose it on her own, wow that's not even authentic. But here I am now and even though Ive faced my struggles, Im here and I just go day by day with this life change until I accomplish my goal weight. Best of luck to everyone else with their journey!!💪

    Pandemic Weight Gain:(

Update. So Monday 6/1/2020, I did go see my dr. and I requested 1/2 cc fill and it was more of a reality check needed I feel. She explained to me that obviously this tool is used for an advantage in eating (healthy) and if your snacking your going to not feel as full vs. eating a nutritious meal mind you I didnt start snacking until this pandemic but I was foolish enough to let this get the best of me because in reality we will face life struggles but should remain constant with our own health but anywho so my main problem wasthat and surely adjustment. And so I started by eliminating all 'junk' out of my home because I do have a family and kiddos. And started fresh with eating 3 meals a day, making sure one meal is a protein shake, and I am proud to say that I lost 8 lbs in a week and today is 6/5/2020. So yes I do get full, havent experienced stuck feeling just learned to chew food thouroughly and take your time! I also began family walks and utilize my boredom to get out the home and find ways to enjoy life and feel content. Hope this helps someone.

    Pandemic Weight Gain:(

Your response was soo simple but effective. On Sunday I removed everything from my pantry that was not good for me, I felt bad for my husband and kids but if I want to continue to lose the weight I will need there support first. I dont want to give those bad habits to my kids either. They all have fast metabolism and are in skinny but that could change poorly health wise. So thanks for the response!
  7. This is exactly how I feel now aswell, so I scheduled an appointment with my Dr. who did my surgery and hope she can give me answers, it's certain foods I feel like I can indulge in if I want to and some that feel like it gets stuck or something so hoping around the 1st of June to see her and get answers and I will update you. I also am newbie had lapband in Feb2020 so I will let you know. Hope you find some answers. Good Luck and continue to eat in moderation I would say, I just purchased a month supply of protein shakes I take 1 for breakfast everyday. I just started it again so fingers crossed. And excersice is a plus, so Ive been walking/hiking with my kids and husband. Keep it going, watch weightloss videos idk it helps to motivate me.
  8. I have experiences slight weight gain, I had my lapband surgery back in Feb 2020 only lost 20 lbs but been stuck at the same weight, going back to old habits of emotional eating. Do you think a lapband fill is needed? I had my first one in March 2020 but I feel as I can eat and not feel as full awaringly. Any advice?
