That is so beautiful. I have a son that has made a career in the US Coast Guard. I feel very selfishly proud that he is not in the "immediate danger" suffered by those serving in other branches of service, especially those at the front lines in the Mideast. My heart, my prayers and my gratitude go to all who serve, including the spouses that are at home "keeping the fires burning". May God bless you all.

I am officially boycotting the show. After ditching Sabrina and Sundance last night instead of Haley or Sanjaya..........What were you thinking America?!?!!! I think we should ban all voters under the age of 18!(Yeah, I know its not possible) I think either Chris Sligh, Melinda or Lakisha SHOULD win....but at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if SANJAYA was the next American Idol!!!! GRRRRRR

What's the worst thing someone said to you?

When my oldest son was in 3rd grade (he's now 25), he got into a fight at school "defending my honor". The kid asked him why his mom was so fat. Well, my son was sent to the principal's office and got "pops" for fighting. (Yes, it was legal then.) I felt SOOO bad. I could not punish him at home. -

The sorrow is for those left on this earth. What a day of rejoicing for the angels in heaven! May God provide comfort for his friends and family. Blessings

How awesome! Did you do this on your own or go to "Clown School"? I would love to hear more........what kind of things do you do? sing? visit? go room to room, or a single show? what kind of reactions do you get from the patients? staff? What a COOL ministry!

I have always been extremely firm with my kids about not allowing ANY kind of discriminating remarks or jokes to be told in my home or in my presence. They know full well that anything said that is degrading to anyone be it about race, religion, sexual orientation, economic background, etc, will not be tolerated. They will even correct their friends when they "go there". I guess since I've always struggled with weight issues and having a low self-esteem, I've been very sensitive even when I was a young child.

My friend and I went walking yesterday. We walked by an elementary school where some young boys were playing baseball. It looked like a Little League team practice since there were a few parents out also. Well, as we passed the field, the kid on first base yells, "Y'all need to go to Weight Watchers". I know this is common for kids to do especially when they want their peers to think they are "cool". But shame on the parents for not reprimanding him for his actions. No one said a word to him My first reaction was to go and give him a spanking and tell him off. My second was to go up to him crying and tell him how much his words hurt (to make him feel bad....yeah, like that would have happened). Anyway, we just kept walking and ignored them. Little did they know that my friend had already lost 100 lbs and that I had gone through lap-band surgery. We are making changes to our lived for the better, although it may not be apparent to those that don't know us. Moral of the story: it is dangerous to make assumptions about any situation without knowing the true facts. But kids can still be mean! GRRR!

That is a keeper! Your daughter AND the note. Nothing can be more precious or cherished than kind words from your child. Keep the note in a special place (your daughter already has your heart) and pull it out whenever the weight loss slows or you get discouraged. You are so blessed. What a wonderful thing for your daughter to do!

Thanks Kat, We are "almost" laughing about it already. I'll just consider it a "created memory". Thanks for the prayers and warm thoughts.
