Pre Op diet???? What did you eat?

I had no specific diet to follow before surgery. After was similar to most, 2 weeks liquid, gradually puree food, then solids...

    Ice Cream!!!

I'm having your same problem. I used to eat so much pasta and bread and was never a big Ice Cream eater, but with my old favorites almost impossible to eat in a satisfying way, I've found I can eat way too much Ice Cream in one sitting. It has become my new addiction, which would maybe be ok if I got the sugar free or low fat kinds like everyone is suggesting, but no, I just found my favorite brand, Blue Bell, from Texas up here in Iowa and now have 5 boxes in the freezer. I have also been at the same weight for the last 4-5 months. I know why. I think as soon as I stop going down the frozen foods isle, Ill start losing again, and of course get more active. It just tastes SO good!:angry

    Anybody start at over 300?

I also started out over 300...just a little at 303, but I can't see why at 330 you couldn't get banded. Like the rest are saying, there are many people over 300 who have it done.

    1 day post-op and gained 6 pounds

I didn't get weighed after surgery until my first office visit....I can understand being upset seeing that you gained. Glad I got to wait. Congrats on the Band!

New Here..almost 2 years post op

That is what has been so suprising to me on this board so far. It sounds as if fills are happening a lot more frequent. I didn't have my first fill until around the 7 month, I lost about 30lb after that fill, but lost most of the weight before the fill. Right now I really want to lose around 15 and have another fill, with the same results I would be around my goal weight, which is exciting!

New Here..almost 2 years post op

Exactly....I actually feel proud to be maintaining at this point. For so long, everytime I got on the scale the number was higher. I know that will never happen again, when I was losing everytime I got on the scale I knew I would never see that number again. But I really do plan on working out more once the spring comes. We just moved(which was a lot of stress) so now that things are settling down, I really want to work on losing the last of my weight. With summer coming and trips to Texas in the future planned, I have a reason to get ready to be in a swimsuit. Thanks for all your comments...this board seems great!
  7. I also have thrown up, because the band doesn't fix the emotional eating or the "it taste good" eating. I got fat because I ate after I was full, so it has been a hard thing trying to stop when the "full" feeling comes. This is something I'm still dealing with after two years.

    Self pay / How much?

Two years ago in Iowa I had it done in a hospital for around 18,000. That did not include any fills. I've had one fill since then at 200 dollars.

    New and nervous

I had the surgery almost two years ago. Insurance didn't cover me either and I was very lucky to have my mom pay 18,000 so I could have the chance to change my life. It was the best thing to ever happen to me. But it's not the cure to everything, it is a great tool, but you still have to work to get all the weight off.
