Hi Ya'll, My life has finally calmed down enough to write ya'll about TEXAS! What a bummer and an awesome race weekend all at once! The weather was perfect on Sunday! Friday was super windy and cold and Saturday was much better! My heart absolutly sunk when Carl wrecked in the last 86 laps. I was listening to him on the scanner and his pit chief wanted to put 5lbs of air in his right side and Carl said no. So the cheif said it again and did it after Ryan Newman crashed, then splat!, right into the wall...... i was sick! Then again, i was already sick from Kurt Busch winning on Saturday! Yuk! FYI.... Tony won the IROC on Friday night! I am glad Kasey won! My four year old son was way stoked! It was great! OH but the best news.... i lost 5 lbs that weekend! Lots and lots of bike riding.... I wonder if it was the five lbs that went into Carls car??? hmmmm???

Phili~ I think everyone feels the port pain for a while. I think mine was tender for about 2 weeks. i am 5 weeks out today and i don't have any pain at all. hang in there, it will get better. makes you think the ole "what the hell did I do" thoughts. I promise, it does get better!

Well ladies, I am fixin' (texan for getting ready) to leave for Ft. Worth today. I hope everyone enjoys the race. The weather is supposed to be awesome! Talk to ya'll on Tues! GO Carl Edwards!!!

Jillyb, my doctor started me on mushies 24-48 hours after surgery. don't stress, i personally think that 2 weeks of liquids after surgery is for the doctors good "stats". visit bandmd.com and look at the post op diet. he is one of the best surgeons in the nation, you will live!

Hi Beejay and welcome to LBT. Read this site as much as you can. There is great information here along with some pretty awesome people. You will have tons of questions and can find answers, opionons and experiences here! Use it for all it is worth! I was banded on 3/3/06. I was scheduled for 10:00am. I was home at 2:00pm that afternoon. I did have a lot of gas pains, but chewed gasx and mylanta. I didn't sleep much the first night but finally passed out on saturday. I returned to work on Monday. ( i have a desk job). Played softball two weeks out and had my first fill today! Congratulations on your new journey. We are all happy for you!

i can tell you that just the 11 lbs weight loss has helped out with that issue. i can laugh hard now and it doesn't happen.
-
Paulax, I know you are very excited, why can't you move the date up? Is it an insurance issue? money issue?
-
i started at a 20w and would like to be a 12..... keeping my fingers crossed!

We go to Mexico quite a bit. We use our DL and Birth Certificate, no problems. If you are married, you also need to bring a copy of your marriage certificiate for the name change on the birth certificate.

I had surgery on Friday, was home that afternoon, and back to work on monday. i too have a desk job and it was no big deal... i was back playing softball 2 weeks later... best of luck!

That was an awesome race! Way to hold off the Hendrick bunch. I don't which I can't stand more, Gordon or Johnson. What an awesome job for Jr. and Stewart! Poor Jr's car took one heck of a beating. I guess I am biased, but I just don't like short tracks. I am way too excited for Texas this weekend! It is going to be 84-86 degrees in Dallas! Another awesome race weekend! Watch for us in the "Catepillar" Section (usually that ugly yellow)! I will be thinking about you ladies and lets hope Roush Racing wins. Did you know that Texas has never had a repeat winner? I think Mark Martin deserves it. He won the first race there!

We let our son go on the trees.... we live in an acreage community. We finally had to put a stop to it when he did it at his daycare.. Oops! Anyway, make it fun for him. I certainly helps to have daddy do the same thing and let him watch! Good Luck

Paulax, I agree that her thread was a little overwhelming to say the least. However NOT ALL PEOPLE ARE DELARLA. You may NEVER experience a problem in the least bit. I am not saying that you will be problem free, however your body is different from mine, Delarlas, HarleyNana etc etc etc. Her problems could have been cause by the eroded band, slippage etc. We will never know. You have to live your life for you!

girl, i weigh 254 and in an 18/20. everyone is different, don't be discouraged, celebrate your weightloss. I can't wait until i start losing weight. I was banded 3/3/06 and go for my first fill on 4/6/06.

philli, we'll be thinking about you and looking at a previous post, clean your belly button out! heheheheh! you will do great!
-
oh jen, i never thought of that! i hope i didn't ruin anyones lunch! yuk, what a visual! Nurses are way underpaid. my best friend is a labor and delivery nurse and she literaly gets crapped on all the time!

K@t, I am so sorry you had to hear those aweful words from such an insensitive loozer! Obviously he called to apologize because he doesn't want you to sue him for slander, job place harrasement etc. In the states we have a program called the Family Medical Leave Act. You would absolutely have the right to this surgery with 6 weeks off if you had to. I know that everyone is different, but, I had my surgery on a Friday and returned to work on Monday. I don't know if this is common, but I was fine to come to work. Just didn't do any prescribed pain meds, liquid Tylenol. Best of luck to you!

That was a very good article ( ahem... go ford)! I remember when Dale Sr. died, my husband and I were at the airport in Houston catching a flight to Vegas. I was about 4 months pregnant. I remember seeing it on CNN and I just sat in the chair and cried! Talk about emotions!
-
huh, yeah! i thought i was actually going to die for the first few days... it does get better. hang in there!
-
i was in a surgery center so i was in the pre-op, op, and post op bed. thank goodness. i would have hated for those people to see the big red set of tatooed lips on my behind!
-
I was banded 3/3/06 and have some little pains where the port is. This morning I woke up and that area was really hard and I could feel it. Not like the shape, but alot of hard pressure. The pain is actually below the port area. The port is just below my rib cage dead center. Cause for concern or just normal healing things? Your input is welcomed!
-
girl, come to the states. come to texas. you can stay at my house while you recoup!!! save your cash for new clothes!!! heheheheh
-
Kathy, I feel your pain... I too am in the same boat but.... i get my first fill on the 6th and that is NASCAR weekend. We camp with about 30,000 people!!! I understand that you are supposed to do liquids for a couple of days after a fill. Would beer, wine and jello shots be considered liquids? All joking aside, I am a little nervous on what to expect. This is a huge trip for my husband and myself and if I am miserable, he will be too!

Awe Willie, It will get better. You said you ate and then went back and ate more and now you are sick at your stomach! Try to find something to do after the first time you eat! Like check LBT for some new posts. Your sick at your stomach because your body didn't need the extra hamburger. This will get better once your banded because the band WON'T let you have the second helping! Keep focused!
