GERD after sleeve Dr said bypass is only option to fix??
tarotcardreader replied to Kikikiki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well its another surgery so another risk of death. You can develop barrots esophagus which can turn into cancer from gerd if you dont. Sleeve has higher incidence of gerd. Gastric bypass has more complications so who knows what bag your gonna get there. I think you should get two opinions because you may be able to manage it medically - perhaps get a referral to a gastro and see what pharmaceuticals they got for you to try first -
Problems with fluid intake
tarotcardreader replied to BigSue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also get this and i tried doing some zofran (antinausea med) before hand yesterday that helped. Its notfeasable to pill up everyday for water needs though. I think its just pouch size and taking too big of drink -

Struggling with keeping my head in the game
tarotcardreader replied to mil_unloaded's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Id switch to another surgeon you really dont need that on top of already being fat. The preop diet is good because it shows you how to eat after surgery when u get past soft foods. If you could lose that much weight you wouldnt need surgery there are planty of programs out there if that surgeon is giving you flack dump them -

you can see some before and afters of people in that weight range in the other forum. you arent too fat for surgery but that doesnt mean your surgeon wont make you lose a little weight first some do some dont. i think though that bypass might be what they would recommend because you take off more excess weight with it and you have more going in. however most surgeons seem fine to do whichever procedure the patient selects as long as there arent alot of conflicting comorbities (gerd is contradicted for sleeve as an example). welcome to the group

A little under three weeks and my surgeon advanced me to soft foods. Your program sounds pretty strict

Painted in a corner--marriage issue
tarotcardreader replied to Locken's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think any marriage that has lasted beyond ten years has to have had some forms of what we are now all calling abuse. Ive yet to meet a perfect person that hasnt said or did something fucked up in a decade and i am a global traveler lol. Anyways, hes being straight with you but to me it sounds more like the person changing will be you and not him and that you are choosing to change. Sometimes when youre married the other person goes off and makes a decision and then whines when the spouse dont want to go along. For instance say you want to start a walking routine lol. Did you know you probably will after surgery lol. Dont expect him to change. However, whats interesting is he might like the new way and join you eventually on walks and things like that. It does sound like you should join an in person support group for sure cause he doesnt give a damn about it (the topic) which isnt a bad thing most guys are into sport and other cool stuff instead of talking about how many lbs his wife lost. There are some guys here who are an exception because theyve had the surgery themselves. There is a divorce rate issue but thats mainly due to some chicks get to looking hot and then dont want their dumpy husband when they can have a boytoy that has lots of energy due to be thinner and healthier can keep up better. You can get the surgery and not get divorced its a choice you make just choose not to divorce. Congrats on such a long marriage they dont make em like that anymore lol which is why its something you should hold onto -

Help! I ate McDonald's 2 weeks post op
tarotcardreader replied to MoominMan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was told redness could b bad so i would just call and ask the bariatric nurse at the center. They have seen n heard it all before and it wouldnt be a bother. Also with telehealth you may even b able to upload a pic right from your phone and send to them thats what i do lol makes things so much faster -
