Shopped Post Op Diet Plans
tarotcardreader replied to Officially Not Fatty Matty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn’t take the advice of anyone here regarding altering post surgery rules because they are not doctors. Logically though if your surgeon gives all his patients the same eating plans it makes things more simple to analyze when complications do occur. After surgery there is inflammation not just from cutting but also anesthesia. There are many reasons you start on liquids almost everywhere that I have read. Do not trust forum posters guesses with your life. Ask your doctor why they do it the way they do it -

Anyone for August 2020
tarotcardreader replied to MotivatedMomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right now i am scheduled for august 28. August 13 is my preop class for post op nutrition. The 14 is my preop clearance with a walk in clinic because my pcp dipped back to another state to be near family during quarantine. The 24 is the preop with my surgeon. My egd is giving me some trouble (it said mild chronic gastritis inactive and there was still food in belly even though i didnt eat within the 6 hours) so i was sent for a gastric emptying study which was normal but i was told the surgeon requests pics from the study and also wanted a second preauth for the sleeve even though i have a preauth for bypass already. I was also called by pcp office staff and they told me the state was going to do a second round of covid shutdowns just isnt announced yet. I think, though its good for doctors to know things before surgery, its entirely been a pain in the ass with all the testing and i read in the patient packet they (the bariatric place) are wanting a chest xray and ekg (going to a walk in clinic mind you lol) as well as a physical for the preop clearance the 14. I think this would be far less complex if the bariatric place had all of this inhouse. I doubt it will all get done before surgery. Also another covid test on the 26th (had to have one for the egd). -
Pre-op meal plan
tarotcardreader replied to Buterflymomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see some others mentioning the preop diet. My program has this second diet only for when you have the second consult with the surgeon and you are a week from the surgery. This varies by program/center/hospital mine is bariatric advantage shakes one week prior to surgery and two weeks after. -
Pre-op meal plan
tarotcardreader replied to Buterflymomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, it depends where you get the surgery done. If you get it done through a center or hospital program their dietician will give you printouts to follow. Then every month until surgery, the dietician goes over your food log with you to see how you are doing. The diet is to acquaint you with how they want you eat after youve healed from surgery so that you Will know what to do already at home once healed. The dietician makes alot of healthy suggestions and i also found the biweekly support group somewhat helpful as well. -
Mild sleep apnea [emoji19]
tarotcardreader replied to ajb1029's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im told moderate w ahi 14.4. I snore so ill prob give it a go. I think it depends on whether you feel tired or unrested during the day or other health effects like enlarged heart. You are best talking to your priv doc to see he knows all your issues -
This has been the topic for the last month of the support group from the hospital. They suggested activities like adult coloring books etc.

The hospital is not doing them here yet due to covid.

"Get ready nutrition pack" ?
tarotcardreader posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my nutritionist said I would need to order this the day of my prop apmt but didn't mention cost yet. It has 35 meal replacement protein 1 bottle multivitamin 1 package calcium citrate. Anyone know the cost its bariatric advantage brand but not on their website. Doesn't seem like insurance covers because was told would have to buy out of pocket (united healthcare quest). So insurance doesn't pay for vitamins etc?- 1 reply

Aetna prep/endoscopy next week!
tarotcardreader replied to Joshagotchi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that procedure done in 2014 and am doing it again for this surgery. They just gave me a cup of stuff and an iv and I was actually able to watch the video screen while the doctor sent into down in and he talked the entire time lol. I do remember it. I think that we have to remember lol that we have a food pipe AND a windpipe. easy quick procedure, and I thought it was cool to look inside. not sure how all doctors do it lol -
JUST GIMME THE DANG SURGERY ALREADY!!!
tarotcardreader replied to Suzi_the_Q's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
alright so i did what alot of the other people in this thread did. i saw Dr weiner videos as well and am still researching because I can still go bypass if I change my mind from sleeve. i also took the nutrition packet and began logging my food and have begun interacting with the dietician following her instructions showing food log. we go over that in telehealth apmt. I cut out the foods already that the surgeon said to (carbonated beverages lol). i also had an apmt with nurse pract from the program and for weight they can pull it from your health records from your gp. though for my second apmt I just weighed and I am down 12lbs from the diet. i was told it usually takes 3-4 months to get into the surgery room. i was told I would be required to attend support group at least once so I went to that already, and I plan to go to the next one too as they have little food topics. I am already on their end game diet through the dietician, but I am not in hardcore mode. right now I do not have to count carbs in most veg, and I have been subbing with some keto premade snacks. It's a good time to start the diet if you haven't so you know what you r getting yourself into but also a good time to experiment with foods because no pouch size yet. its kinda like easing into diet slowly. also make sure to look at check list and complete those. mine had things like support group at least once, sleep study etc and I completed what I could and scheduled with gp already to get the others. (Im waiting on gp apmt for egd but also waiting for behavioral health referral to call me with apmt as I was approved to see them for assessment) -
Glycerin Suppositories... no bowel movement after an hour??
tarotcardreader replied to Tejee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have used those in the past (not for post surgery) and I just would use another one if the first didn't work after an hour.
