Any advice on how to take your post op medications? I need to take pantropazole and ursodioland I have to crush them up. It tastes disgusting. I’m only a few days at op so I have to crush them... and recommendations on how to make it more bearable? What to take it with?

Post op crushed medication recs

I have to wait 6 weeks for whole pills (1 more week)! I’ve been taking my capsule with powder in them by mixing with unsweetened apple sauce and it’s very tolerable. My multi is chewable (flint stones) and my pantropazole is the only pill and I cut it in half. -
Smoking weed post-op

Addiction isn't a concern of mine. I was a consistent weed smoker/user for years. I stopped for surgery for the last 5 months (my first scheduled procedure got postponed bc of COVID) and I had no problem stopping. This may not be the case for everyone, but it was for me. And Ive taken breaks in the past as well. Im two weeks post op and spoke to my surgeon. Not all are agree and that's mostly because there isn't a lot of research done about using weed post op. Since post op smoking cigarettes can cause ulcers some people are told all types of smoking (weed) does the same. But there are actually many studies proving that smoking and vaping weed reduce the amount of stomach acid in the stomach. Anyway, my surgeon told me from a surgical/sleeve perspective smoking, vaping, tinctures, sublingual tabs are safe after 3 months. But obviously watch out for the munchies, luckily that hasn't been a big issue for me ever. I definitely trust my surgeon he's done thousands of these procedures and there are no studies that prove smoking weed can cause ulcers. Obviously there are side effects of smoking and vaping, which you take on regardless of this surgery. -
Smoking weed post-op

2-3 years later any side effects of smoking? I’m about a week out since surgery and just want to be able to smoke again one day and know I’m not going to get ulcers... I don’t understand the correlation between smoking weed and ulcers. There is evidence with nicotine but there are a lot of studies showing that smoking weed actually reduces stomach acid. And it goes to you lungs... I just don’t get it -
Hi all, my first post here. Having my surgery tomorrow, got rescheduled from March, 3 days before surgery because of COVID. I was in such a Good headspace last time. I still feel excited for the future and know I want to do this but I’m so scared. Scared I will fail, scared of the pain post op, feeling sick, dizzy, Scared I’ll f**k up the routine, I don’t know! I’m also just super anxious because no one can be in the hospital with me because of COVID which really sucks. My boyfriend is my rock and I just really wanted him there with me. Luckily my mom works in the hospital and should be able to be around but I’m not sure how much. Any advice/ wisdom to calm my nerves? I cried when I went in for the endoscopy I just don’t like hospitals, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be a mess tomorrow. And my surgery isn’t until 4pm so I’ll be extra hangry.

Surgery tomorrow - I’m scared!!
Ilanarose replied to Ilanarose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I made it! My surgery was at 4pm so I didn’t make it to my room until late. That first night was tough. I woke up from the surgery in a lot of pain but the nurse wasn’t giving me a lot of pain meds because I was breathing slowly. Luckily I was able to have my mom there because she works at the hospital. Yesterday was better. VERY sore at the incision sites, hard to tell if it’s the incisions or my insides that were hurting but the pain meds help wonders. Don’t hesitate to use the pain meds. Luckily I didn’t have much gas pain, I think they did a good job at removing the majority of it. I was still very sleepy from all the meds so I only walked 3-4 times during my stay in the hospital. They wanted to discharge me last night but I ended up staying last night and got discharged this morning. Only a little nauseous when I took the liquid Tylenol but they gave me Zoltan and oddly enough waving an alcohol swab in front of my nose helped wonders. I’m home now still in some pain but it’s most just tightness in my abdomen, still using the pain meds. I was a mess crying all the way up until I when to sleep but I survived and so will you! I’m having no trouble with water or protein shakes so that’s good -

Thank you everyone! Leaving for the hospital in a couple hours, helped ease my nerves some. I will definitely update when I am feeling up for it!
