Before and during.

I so rarely get in photos, but twice a year I organize a car rally, and someone always gets me during the driver orientation. The shot of me in in orange shirt and khaki was shot April 29th. Those shorts are a 46 waist, and look at that overhang! The other shot is today, I'm in white with denim shorts -- 38 waist.

Still a ways to go, but feeling good today

See http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f81/who-has-joined-gym-do-you-work-out-home-38076/#post591135 If I look at it on the front page, it shows that I have posted on it recently...but I posted yesterday. Twice since then it's come to the top showing me as the latest poster and a more recent post time. However, I haven't posted to the thread since yesterday and the newer posts are phantoms that don't show up. Admins?

I'm not 'slim' yet, but I've made it down to merely overweight per BMI. The biggest thing so far is that I no longer have to carefully choose my route through a crowded restaurant.

Who Has Joined A Gym Or Do You Work Out At Home?
Manatee replied to violeteyes37's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, time to change my vote. I wasn't making process with home workouts, so I joined a very small hard-core strength gym and hired a trainer for twice-weekly workouts for the next 6 weeks. I'll end up spending almost a grand by the end of the year, but it will be worth it for the jump-start. -
I've always wanted to fly, even took lessons 20 years ago in high school but couldn't afford to continue. I did a lesson in 04, but even then was 250+ (and rising) and between the instructor and I and the plane choice, we could only carry half tanks of fuel. Now I weigh 9 gallons less Had a second lesson, went well, and now I'm only 199

I understand your pain ragdollx19. Just keep in mind that 'normal' is what we're all shooting for. It's hard for me to admit to folks that I'm down 80lbs and STILL overweight. The thing is that we really DID look that way, and people were just nice enough to not say too much about it back then  Someone asked how 199 feels. Part of me wants to celebrate (bring on a milkshake ), part of me knows how far the distance still is. The big thing is that I'm not longer "that big guy". I'm still overweight, but it's not the primary descriptor anymore. That's the thing worth celebrating, not a number on a scale. I have 160 listed as a goal, but that will likely change. I have a personal trainer and am doing hardcore strength training, and thanks to the fat/muscle density differences it's likely that I will look 'good enough' well above 160

Is there such a thing as a non-scale defeat? I was at the local B&N/coffee shop Sat night and asked a woman what she was reading (trying to make small talk). Got back "what's it to you, fatass?" I ended the conversation at that point. On the positive side, she's probably not someone I'd be interested in long term -
Anyone banded and working on strength training? I'm about to start work with a coach, but he's very concerned about proper nutrition and Protein levels with the band. Any experiences with this?

I did get a new belt, but I kept the old one around. I'll admit that every now and then I put it on and grin

It's worth running through HR on it. My benefit booklet said that WLS was excluded, but when I started pushing it turned out that morbid obesity with co-morbidities was actually allowed -- just not publicized.

Believe it or not, Ducati used to be owned by Texans. It's now a publicly traded Italian company with no ties to Ferrari I really want to pick up a Duck, but the morons in traffic around here are just too bad. I quit riding after dodging one too many Sedan de'Villes -

See, that's kinda the problem right there. First, that particular car isn't mine (mine was out in the sun). Second, I do want to find a gearhead/race fan, but don't really care for the kind of people who are always thinking about the cost of other people's things -- if ya know what I mean. -
I was a Dr. Pepper freak I recently had one, and it was NOT a pleasant experience. You can't really burp the gas out, so guess where it goes?

Ok, online dating gurus.

Here's a recent pic of me at a car show. Should I use this as a profile picture? I'm a bit concerned about the baggage/implication of the location/clothing, but maybe I'm overthinking it? It's really the only recent picture I have

edit: oh yeah -- I'm now officially "overweight." That still sounds bad, but not as bad as "obese" or "morbidly obese" -
Had a NSV today (and officially, down 70 lbs!) Went to take my first flying lesson today, and part of the drill is setting the weight and balance for the plane. I tell the instructor I'm at 205 (throwing in clothes etc), and he just kinda stops for a second. He asks me if I'm sure, and I said "yes" (thinking -- damn, I'm still a fatass). He looks again and says "Ok, but I had you pegged at 185" Hurrah!

Just a timestamp for me for later: officially -70 lbs from consult in April

I'm not 'experienced', but for me the third fill was the one that really kicked in. Your mileage will vary -
I run Firefox on both my PC and Mac. On both, the bar that says "Home UserCP, Gallery", etc has gone blue-on-blue. I can't see the text any more, because the text is down in the lower dark blue bar instead of on the light blue one. On Safari on Mac it's fine. I haven't checked on IE. Can someone in charge take a look at this? Thanks

Well, the weight is just kinda staying at the same point for the last month, but my size is changing. Today I bought new pants -- 38 inch waist! I started this in April wearing 48s. Wahooooooooo
