Yeah, I did that in September. Overfilled, a full month of vomiting and then backed it off. I've been on a very very slow decline since, flat since the beginning of December. Time to push.
-
Back from the doc. Now I'm at 7.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I'm having a bit of trouble with it tonight, but I'll be on clear liquids for a day or so and see how that works out. I'd hate to back it out again
-
Off to the doc today for an adjustment. Just need a small fill to get moving again. I've been stuck on a plateau for far too long.
-
Just because people are kin doesn't mean they're not toxic. You sound realistic about the issues in telling them. My advice would be to keep it quiet. You can always tell them later, but you can never 'untell' if you mention it now.

If you're aiming for weight loss, you'll want to do lots of cardio. If you weight train, you may notice the numbers on the scale going up for a while. Don't sweat that too much. Kill the carbs, eat protein. good luck

Hi guys For those doing weight training, I have a question. I've been on a plateau for a while, and that's fine. One thing I've noticed though is that my belly area is actually starting to push outwards again. I asked my trainer about this, and he stated that it was because of increased muscle mass in the core areas below the abdominal fat layers. Fact? Possible? Total BS? I don't think I'm eating badly right now

What's in your home gym, and what do you really use and like? For me, I'm using my rower and my exercise bike (plus a daily multimile walk). I have some other stuff that I've accumulated over the years, such as a bowflex unit and an elliptical machine, but I've not yet added them to my new program. How about you all?

My band has slipped after 3 years of being banded
Manatee replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wait....help me understand. There hasn't even been a barium/fluoro look at the thing, and the doc's saying remove it? No unfill yet either? Sounds like a doc needs to make a boat payment. Just my $.02, but surgery (to me) requires some thought and a second or third opinion. Good luck -

Hi guys. Back from a week in the Keys. I made a point of not caring AT ALL what I ate or drank, but did decide to keep the fill in place during the vacation. I came back worrying about the scale -- and it was still under 189 this morning Woot! Now back to exercise and eating right and hopefully goal in 08.

Just wandered back in, didn't have net access down there. Overall a good trip, today has been a beat-down travel day (5 hours late and nobody knows where the luggage is). I have several hundred pictures to sort through. Is there an update on John? Is he better? Denise, good for you! -
I do, to keep track of a weighted rolling average. This helps filter out the highs and lows. See https://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/HackDiet/ for great online tools. I don't worry about the day-to-day, I worry about the trend line and where it's going.
-
urgh. NOW I remember why I got the band. Totally blew it over the past few days and rocketed back into the 190s. Now I'm headed off to vacation, so I'll leave the scale behind and worry about all this when I come back. I have a fill scheduled for the 10th, so hopefully that + eating correctly + a return to the gym will kick me back to the right direction. Goal in 08!

Cigna didn't say the docs could not do the work, the company simply said they wouldn't pay for it.
-
If you had to pay the full cost of treatment out of pocket, perhaps your viewpoint would differ...
-
Hmmm I wouldn't recommend gaining weight (and are you sure it's 200 lbs? Most programs are 100 lbs or 40 BMI). However, I wonder if maybe you aren't an inch or so shorter than you think you are? Because, you know, shorter folks have lower ideal body weights, and my doc never pulled out a tape measure when he asked my height and weight. Just some musings....

Honesty about drinking soft drinks please ?
Manatee replied to TNNurse Linda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am/was a Dr Pepper fiend. I've had one since the band, and doubt I'll ever have another. It was truly painful, the carbonation gave me real troubles. -
Just curious if it's a good idea to unfill before a vacation? I'll still be in my home country, but far from a lap-band doc. I'm doing fine with my current fill, so this would be a precautionary thing. Thoughts?

A thread for Single Bandsters

Nope, no hotties, or even coldies I have absolutely no agenda in KW -- just a B&B room for 6 nights and airline tickets. I like unstructured vacations. I did message a couple of ladies from KW just to see if they would like to meet up for a drink, but no luck. No surprise there  -

Of course the dating is likely going to increase when you're lighter. That's the way the world works. Most people are wired to like thinner & healthier partners (male or female). Don't be jaded, just be glad you're moving that direction. Where did you go? I want to make it to Maranello soon, hopefully this next fall. Re: location, I'm in the DFW area. I try to keep my identity a bit vague on this board, because most people in my meatspace life don't know I have this band That's what this thread is for, no? Looks like JC, Di and Chrispy are all long gone, hope I drop off this thread soon -
The scales are going UP again!! *cries*
Manatee replied to Fanny Adams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Believe it or not, this is normal. Your body is simply rehydrating. The next 4-6 weeks will be the hardest. You have to let your body heal, and you need nutrition for that. Don't worry about minor weight gain during this time. Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. After your restriction (which may take several fills to get right) things get better. One thing I've found really useful is to use a weighted rolling average to keep track of my weight trend. There's a useful tool at https://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/HackDiet/ that keeps track of your weight and generates charts that show your true trend, rather than the instantaneous point. That's useful, especially when Water weight and other variables make the daily/weekly weigh-in unreliable. -
23 I don't think I'll ever understand weight loss. I literally sat on my rear all weekend (doc's orders) and lost 2 lbs. Oh, well, it's all good....

I used Dr Mosier in Denton Tx. I have to say that I'm absolutely satisfied with him and his service. His bedside manner is excellent, and I get the impression he really is invested in the success of his patients. The service from the staff is also excellent. The pre-op patient coordinator helped get everything organized, the information sessions really were informational, and even the nutritionist seemed very interested in my success. On an ongoing basis, I have had to set up 4 fills and an unfill, and the staff is immediately accessible via email (my preferred communication method). I understand that there is a support group associated with his practice, but I have not had any need to attend those. Frankly, I'm very happy with him.

165 is "high normal" for a male 5'9" per the BMI charts. My true goal is "looks good naked." The spare tire is down to a space saver, but it's still there.

Finally, finally broke 190. 188.8 today
