giving this blog thing a shot

Hi there, i can definitely feel for you with the finances, my troubles are mostly due to my own mismanagement. It sure can affect your life big time. When you are in pain, it does affect moving. hope you get to feeling better, keep us posted. good luck tina
  2. i got my first fill on the 25th, didn't feel too much of a difference, but i can't eat like i used to, i feel pain. i just hope i haven't stretched out my pouch from over doing it too often. i lost 33 so far since 5//8, so that is still good. how are you eating?

  3. I forgot to mention, the literature i recieved on discharge for the lap was soft foods, it was different that what the dietitian gave me, but i believe it was meant for both the gastric and lap pt, i think calling your doctor and letting him know how you are feeling, will help you through. Good luck.
  4. i did or felt as you did. I ended up back in the hosp 3 days after surgery, due to PE (my third hosp), but also dehydrated. after a few days getting my blood thinned and iv fluid, i felt better, i couldn't handle liquid for that long and i was craving big time cottage cheese and tuna! So slowly i ate those and tolerated well. i have lost 33 since 5/8. But i still have not done any trigger foods like sugar or brd. Everyone is different. glad to hear i wasn't the only one who "cheated" or didn't follow it to a T

    Need a little reassurance

Hi, I started my journey at 449 lbs, joining TOPS as i knew they would not take me unless i showed some loss on my own. I officially weighed in at 419 and was able to get the process started for the lap band. I weighed 413 day before surgery 5/8, today i am 381. Lap band is so much less evasive, still a struggle as i find i can tolerate pretty much anything and i have to really eat slow so my body registers it has had enough, and there is pain when i over do it, but i have no regrets, haven't touched my trigger foods and i get mad cause i miss eating the volumne of food and i can't do buffets or restraunts cause i refuse to pay for a meal i won't finish1 I hope you are able to get your lap band, keep me posted. Tina

    question?

how does it feel when the food gets stuck, how long before that sensation goes away?
  8. Tell me about your food plan, I too struggling with feeling restriction as i should, i can drink 3 cups of water without no restriction and drink like normal like before band, out a month tomorrow.

  9. I banded on the 8th of may, lost about 23 lb, the first two weeks i lost 20, but got dehydrated. I am struggling, but my food is 100% better than before the band, i am retaining lots of fluid, but it is due to bad circulation prior to surg. Tell me how your food plan is going?

  10. Hi, can you tell me more about your success with the band, you have lost so much in such a short time, tell me about your food plan and exercise program. I am out a month, about 23 lb lost, but struggling.

    Confused....

hi, i too am feeling confused, but since joining this group, reading about how others have been through the same concerns, i feel encouraged that this will pass. I expected to have more restriction, and can consume up to 2 cups, yet i had my first episode of eating too fast and having too much and i don't want to feel that again. i expected more wt loss as i am eating less than 1000 cal a day, 23 lb since may 7, the first two weeks out 20 lb lost. but since i went back to work, major fluid retention and i was discouraged the loss slowed. My first fill last week of this month. But as i said, so many people here are offering such good support, hang in there, just as i will do! Good luck! Tina

    Intro....

Hi everyone! May 8, 2008 lapband in SB, CA, Dr. Thoman. Wt 413, in/out same day of surgery, but unfortunately, developed Pulmonary Embolis (my 3rd hospitalization within 3 years. Lost 20 lb in the first two weeks, got dehydrated as well. The last two weeks, upon returning to work, incredible edema and no wt loss. I can tell my clothes are fitting looser, but discouraged about seeing no wt loss. Restriction is not as i expected, I am consuming up to a cup & a half. However, today experienced my first painful restrictive feeling. I ate 1/4c brocolli and 3oz fish pretty fast and the Protein bar i ate less than 2 hours, was still i am sure still around. So that made me encouraged, despite the pain! I am here to find support and hear other stories, my support system is not very high, i went off my anti depressants after surgery and i felt so inspired after reading posts yesterday, i feel more encouraged. I look forward to being a part of your community! Christina in Santa Maria:shades_smile:

    Bandster Hell?? Why???

Hi, I had my surgery 5/8/08, I am experiencing lack of restriction and wt loss as expected, i didn't know if i stretched the stomach or if i was totally messing up. I can eat about 1 cup and a half to 2 cups of food. I feel uncomfortable, but i should be feeling full at about 4oz? I started at 413 admit wt, lost 20 lb in two weeks, but had problems with getting anything down due to pain in stomach and no desire. But today, 392 and have not budged for about a the last two weeks. I am embarrassed to go to doctor without further wt loss. I am not eating too bad, less than 1000 calories, compared to my 4000 plus before surgery. I am feeling very dissapponted. I do have lots of swelling, but still i should be losing. Your post was in January, how are you doing now? Thanks Tina:huh2:
