Hey everyone! I made it under the knife. I had Lap Band surgery on Thursday, 6/12/08. I felt like a big Mac truck rolled over me :scared2:on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I felt better on Monday, Tuesday and Today. I see the doctor at 1pm today. I don't know if I lost any weight. He said to walk but if was not possible for the first 3 days post op. I could only walk a little the past 2 days. I stuck to clear liquids and lots of water. I even took tylenol for pain. I am not a pain medicine person. They gave me Vicodin and I have not use one pill. I did eat baby food meat and apple sauce since the dietician told me to go to pureed foods after the surgery. Now let the weight leave my body forever... At first, I thought, "Lord, what have I done?". Now I believe that I can do this. Forge on my fellow troopers! Forge On!

I am having a problem with solids too. I want them. I am now 18 days out from surgery and I have had hamburger meat because I was told to eat lots of protein and puree it. By my dietician! But I eat it without puree and I wondered if I stretched my pouch. I remember that the band is not tight now. I have not had my first fill. So you may be the same. When is your first fill? I read on this website that you will not be able to eat that much when they fill your band. So forgive yourself and get back on track. Much success to you.

Has anyone had a glass of beer after being banded?

Are you kidding? They stressed that upfront...no alcohol. As a matter of fact, I was told to not drink coffee. I am having a coffee attack right now. I love tea but it just does not cut it when you love coffee. Please discuss this with your doctor. You would not want to destroy all of what you paid for in the lap band. lot of luck! -

KristeyK, you are way too funny with the pictures on your post. I love it. Keep up the fight. Lots of weight loss to you. -
Molly, thanks for the info about hunger. I hope I am too excited about the procedure to even think about hunger. I want to much to be successful at this. I will do what it takes to get those 135 or so pounds off. I am looking forward to being a new woman. Best wishes to you.

Hi, I am new to the site! I am having pre-op tomorrow (6/4/08) and Banding on Thursday (6/12/08). I had the thought that I would not have any hunger sensations. After reading some of the posts, I don't know about that! I may have a long road ahead of me. I need the site for constant support. I am glad you are here. I want to lose weight and extend my life so I will do what it takes to succeed. Please pray for me. I live in Aurora, CO and my doctor is Johnathan Shoen at the University of Colorado Hospital Bariatrics clinic. My entire family is behind me. I have about 135 lbs to lose.

Erica, thanks for the encouragement. I will pray for help and guidance. I know what you mean about head hunger because I got to 277 by eating for every emotion. I eat when I am definitely not hungry. Sometimes I ask myself why am I eating this. It does not taste good and it does not fulfill the anxiety, worry, disappointment, emotional pain and whatever else I may be feeling. I will pray about that as well. Thanks and best wishes to you.

Hey, thanks for the encouragement! God bless you and keep you safe through your procedure. You are just behind me. I am wanting to lose the weight, but I am a little apprehensive about what I am about to do. And I thought the gastric bypass was drastic! I guess they would have had to sedate me throughout my journey of weightloss if I got that surgery.

I would love to have a band buddy! My name is Carlor and I am 54. I am at 279 lbs and my goal is 135 -145. I am having my pre-op on tomorrow and my bandind day is Thursday, June 12. I have a long road ahead but I am determined to be successful. I can do this! But I would love to share the experience with a friend. I am a mother of 5. one 33, one deceased at 20 yrs old, nine years ago, one 11, one 9 and one 3. We are fans of adoption. the last 3 are adopted. I just earned my MBA and I do not have a job yet. Life is overwhelming to say the least. Some would say I have a lot on my plate. I often correct them and say that I have a buffet table. I have long exceeded the plate. :confused2:
