Hi I am 5 months into my journey after a bypass. I'm having a few issues but doing ok. I was wondering why alcohol isn't allowed for 12 months? Does it damage your new pouch or is it normal health advice? Can anyone shed any light on this please? Thanks 👍

Hi I'm just curious to know if anyone else suffers with painful wind after eating? The belching not the other end 🤪 I suffer terrible after every meal. In fact I'm getting like i don't want to eat. At the moment I'm away on a break for a couple of days. I've just eaten out at a restaurant. I had 2 mushrooms, a spoon of beans and 1/2 a slice of toast.......i give up...im only 6 month in and still pretty much in recovery but is it normal just to eat so little but still have wind pains. What's your take on it?

Hi I've experienced bad dumping too. Never in a month of sundays did i imagine it to be as bad as it is! Trouble is, you'd think I'd have learned my lesson but one day eating say brown bread I'm ok, the next I'm in agony. There's no stead fast rules or patterns on my journey. To cap it all I've had no input from my dc or specialist nurse to help me along because of COVID. I had my operation in March 20 and only now do i get a telephone appointment for october.....how can you be assessed or even checked over through a call. Aww well, I'm soldiering along and I've quite a few questions i would like answering.

Thank you for your replies. I don't drink heavily, i wouldn't want to try but it is nice to be able to have a glass of wine with friends and family.

A couple of days ago i ended up sending for an ambulance as i thought i was having a heart attack. Blood tests confirmed my heart is very much ok. But....the dc said i had experienced an esophagus spasm. Im at a loss of how or why it happened. Im 5 month in and now scared to eat. I hope you both better soon 👍

Thanks Lily I've had 2 glasses of wine at a family meal at home. It didn't seem to have an effect on me but afterwards i felt as i shouldn't have had any.

Hi I'm nearly 4 months post op for the bypass. Does anyone know if hair loss is a side effect of surgery? Mine is falling out by the handful which is causing me a lot of concern. I haven't had any post op checks or consultations to ask for advice due to covid so feel like I'm out on a limb. Thanks 👍

Hi I had my bypass in march this year but due to covid 19 i haven't had any follow up appointments so none of my worries/concerns have been talked through. One of my main worries is streching my new pouch. Does anyone know how much extra food will stretch it? I don't over eat like before but in the evenings i seem to get really hungry......please tell mre I'm not alone in this? Thank you in advance.

After 3 months its still early days for me. I can't tolerate pasta, tofu, white bread, anything fried....strangely enough, almost all the foods im not supposed to try until stage 4 in july. 🤫 my bad.
