    Newbie to the Sixties Group

I know how you feel when you see another Bischon, they are adorable, but then I love most pups. My dog Chloe is almost 6 years old now and although she is that old, if left too long in the house alone, she will piddle on the bathroom mat. Sometimes I do believe she does that just because she is angry at us for leaving her at home. I have tons of pictures but being the computer illiterate that I am, I haven't a clue as to how to send one. Perhaps I can get my grandson to show me how next time he is available. Will find out in a short while the time for my surgery on Monday...getting anxious now. I went to the store today to stock up on plenty of the liquid stuff for my diet after surgery. I have been on a liquid diet since June 30th but at least you can have salad with that one. Wish I had someone to talk to on a daily basis who is going through this same thing. It is so hard to watch everyone else eat the foods I love and to try to distinguish between head hunger and true hunger, etc., etc. Do you understand what I mean? Sometimes I just long for a hamburger, but then I remind myself how much this surgery means to my health and the sacrifices I must make to make it work, yet that hamburger sure sounds so inviting and then wouldn't you know it, a commercial will come on television that shows one of those luscious ones from a great hamburger joint. LOL! HOW CRUEL IS THAT? Jodi

    Countdown to band day!

I have finished all the preop evaluations and had all my testing. I only need to call in later today to find out the time for me to report to the OR on Monday or Banday. Getting really excited now. Just listed our home too, so have lots to do this weekend to keep me plenty busy so that I will not be too preoccupied with thinking solely about the surgery. I plan to wear a simple lounge type dress there with me to wear home. They said to plan to wear something comfortable...what do you think? Don't want anything that will be binding around my middle. What state are you from? Hope all goes well for you and that you don't have much pain at all. Don't forget to let me hear from you afterwards. Jodi

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Thanks for sending that Gayle. What an uplifting and positive post. I needed to read your remarks since I am being banded on Monday and am limited on what exercise I can do. I am hoping I will have news such as yours to report in my near future. Thanks again.
  4. Thanks to everyone for your helpful comments and suggestions. I am going to give those dumb bells a try and look for that tv station as well. All were good suggestions. You all were so helpful.
  5. Hi everyone, I am so glad to find this forum to be able to ask questions and learn more about the lapband. I have been wanting this for a long time now, but too undecided to get it done. I am 63 years old with numerous aging health problems that can be helped by having this surgery to help me remove some of this weight. .the main problem is, I have leg and foot problems which prevent me from walking very much (not at all right now, until an ulcer heals). I am presently in a wheelchair. Any suggestions on types of exercise I can do to help my weight reduction? I can't go swimming..Podiatrist nixed that idea. I am grateful to any and all suggestions. I must commend you all for your support to one another. I have been reading some of the post and the outpouring of support is wonderful. :thumbup:Jodi (leelee)
  6. Hi MaidMarion, Yeah, I have something in common with someone besides being a bander. We are "same day new banders". You are nearly as young as my daughter who is 43 years old, lol. I know I am going to need all the encouragement that I can get, for I am a terrible one to snack. I am missing them already and I have just begun to change eating habits...one month now. I really don't know just what I can and cannot have to eat, I just know that protein is the number one thing to have and fats are a no-no. I do thank you for your helpful suggestions on exercise I can do and I am hoping to be out of this wheelchair at least by September or sooner with luck. Keep in touch. Leelee
