    Portioning out food

I am almost 4 weeks post op VGS. I use measuring cups still because anything more feels like too much. As I advance because of the importance of getting enough meat/protein, I probably will start weighing my meat.

  8. I noticed today my tongue felt thick on top and looked in mirror. It was white with brown or greenish looking coat on the top. The edges of my tongue isn't smooth and my tongue is a pale pink. I'm thinking I will need to drink more fluids and maybe have thrush or yeast or something. Most of color comes off when scraping and rinsing with Listerine, but its still there. No pain or swelling. Has this happened to anyone else? I probably call doctor tomorrow.
  9. I took of 3 weeks. I'm working from home doing Telehealth. I am 5 days out and exhausted. No major complications (no major pain, no nausea, no vomitting, no reflux, incisions healing) but I am fatigued, my tongue is coated white patches and some brown colors that mostly scrape off) from my chocolate protein shakes, chewing multivitamins, etc.. I assume. If it doesn't clear I probably call doc in a few days. I shouldn't be dehydrated because I'm drinking fluids all day (64oz). Maybe I should do 64 water plus the liquid meals. I walk around the house and get dizzy. Make sure to take enough time off because I am thinking I should have taken 6 weeks.
  10. Gastric Sleeve surgery in 10 days. Praying I get through this with no complications and no COVID. So nervous.  Any tips?

Get some SF Popsicles, they are a life saver if you can't keep other foods down. If you have to cook for people in your household, cook some dishes for them before surgery. Get a pillow for the ride home. Chapstick will come in handy. And if you are super nervous before surgery, you can ask your doctor for something to calm your nerves. Good Luck!

you know what? i had it 7 days ago, and it really was no big deal. took about an hour, i woke up in no pain except a scratchy throat from the intubation. That lasts several days. The worst part of the whole thing is getting rid of the gas they blow into you during surgery. Horrible gas cramps for a couple of nights, then fine. My insisions are starting to itch, but that is no big deal. You will be fine!!
