Pre-surgery: need advice from previously heavy drinkers
WInston223322 replied to redwards 123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok i drink and have drank for a long time - However i Drink Vodka, so if you are a beer drinker really can not help One thing you are going to realize is the power of a drink will be about 10 times stronger - For example I could drink 5 plus good strong drinks prior to surgery - Now i am lucky to get 2 vodka gator-aides in. Also it is rough on the tinny tummy and definitely has calories. So i suggest you go very slow and go from a drinker to a sipper every now and then. Not going to be easy and I fully understand but I just drink high end Vodkas now and do it for enjoyment rather then the Habit or addiction I have. -

i am a male also and going to try and help you out I did not have a support wife or person but things you should try and do. You need to order a nutra bullet or similar device. Getting those drinks in line are really going to help. Once you master the way to make them they will be a treat for him. Mix them up - I am also a chef = yes you can add ice Protein drink, half a banana - and add the powder vitamins to it = Peanut butter powder and banana powder are great! In other words you are making a Protein smoothie. Now for the liquid phase there is not set time when his body is ready he will move phases. Take it slow! I agree with above - Get a ton of vitamins and focus on protein for the phase one! he has to eat slow and I mean pick and slow = MY KEY ADVICE, TELL HIM TO MAN UP AND GET HIS ASS OUT OF BED ASAP AND MOVE MOVE MOVE AROUND THE HOSPITAL. THE FASTER HE MOVES AND GETS THE AIR OUT THE BETTER HE WILL FEEL. FEEL free to PM or even call me aj -

1. Regret - NO you only have two choices Stay the way you are and die with disease and miss out on years of your life and events...... Or get the tool to help you get healthy! Zero Regrets 2. Do and Dont - Do understand this is a journey and a lifestyle change. You have to be able to do it physically and menatlly. Dont think this is the 100 percent solution it is not! IT is just a tool and you need the whole workshop in order. Mind body and attitude! Tips..... Read this site and get mentally ready for the changes. You will have to kick your addiction to food and eating unhealthy, You will get healthy and your life will change. But it is not a easy journey but the reward is off the scale worth it. Ask away aj -
Just saying good luck and get better! I have never seen this post but hopefully someone can help you Aj

Foods and dumping syndrome
WInston223322 replied to Rolltide87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stop the chicken - Seems this little bird causes problems. My view is to switch up your diet. For example go 3 days just seafood, shrimp crab soft fish. See how you do then/ Then do 3 days of just pork - shredded chunked ribs. then 3 days of beef , Chili, steak, tacos/ I am sleeved also and certain foods cause issues. It took me time to get my body used to certain foods. ALSO no sauces oils and limited seasonings. You will get it but you have to learn the type of foods you can handle, the speed you eat, and do not mix liquids and solids till you get the trick to it -
Get Ready --- Seems many a posts of conception shortly after surgery! Good luck and congrads aj

After the shock and awe wore off and i got used to eating less and getting healthy, was about 6 months when i realized this is the new me! Take it or leave it. Now as i have finished the weight loss and switching gears to staying at this weight I do realize I did the right thing Dont get me wrong there are days i can not eat and get second doubts but I had to do it

No reason to say the same thing as above, However look at it as positive look at the weight loss you have acquired - So it may take you a little longer Just stay focused and on track. In years ahead willl it really matter that it took 16 months to get healthy and at your goal weight Vs the frustration you are feeling being anxious to get it off quickly. It wont matter down the road, Stay healthy and you got this! FYI mix up your calories a little and do some intermittent fasting to break the stalls. Worked for me
