    July Butterflies Master Thread

Thanks for the support Kimaly. I used to get on LB Talk almost daily for a year and it did help. I also kept an online food journal and really need to get back to that. I had to have a total unfill this past Nov. I had been at almost perfect restriction and was losing steadily but had a very traumatic tragedy happen in our family and I was in total shock and couldn't eat for a week. When I did come around and try to eat, the stress had tightened my band to the point where I could hardly swallow water. I had lost 12 lbs in 10 days and looked like death warmed over. So had to have a total unfill and have slowly been trying to get back to where I was before but my dr. wants me to take it slow but I obsessing over this weight gain but can't seem to get motivated like I was before.

just a quick note to say hi and to try and work up the effort to re-connect with the band world. Mine is a long and complicated story and I am slowly gaining back weight due to complications in my life and with my band. I need to somehow get motivated again and hope that youall will give me the hope and support I need to do this. I had originally lost 65 lbs and was 15lbs from goal and as of today I have gained 22 of those lbs back. will tell you more of the details another day when I have more time. Just jumped on for a minute to see what was going on with some of the other july 08 bandsters and how they were doing. Sounds like you all are all doing great and keep up the good work and I know somehow I'll get back on board. I don't want all of this to have been for nothing. Thanks, Jenhay

Hi Mol, Haven't been on since the last time I posted in Sept and din't leave a message then, just sort of looked thru the site. It is the middle of Oct. and as of today I have lost a total of 65 lbs and am 12 lbs from my goal weight of 128. I am seriously rethinking my weight goal though and think I might stop at 5 more lbs because everyone is saying that I am losing too much and don't look well. I am 5'2" and do hold weight well and at my age I am rethinking getting to 125lbs or 127 because that might be too much for me. 135 might be more realistic weight for me to be at and still look OK. I don't look fat by any means right now and I am at 140lbs. What do you think?

Hi Mol, I don't know where all the time has gone, but I have not been on in ages myself. Good news is that I went back for a fill in May and have lost about 14 lbs since then. Got to go on another vacation with 2 of my brothers and their wives and my sister and her husband. We went to Gulf shores, Alabama and spent a week in a beach house and it was fabulous. Haven't been on a vacation in over 3 years and get to go twice this year allready! Back to the subject of lap band, I had my surgery on July 31, 2008 and have lost a total of 47 lbs. and want to lose 30 more. Wish I could do that by Christmas. Just have to try harder. You hang in there and just keep trying. Hope to talk soon, Jean

  6. I had lapband surgery in July, 2008 and had my first fill in Oct and the second one in Dec and had another one scheduled for Feb which I have had to cancel because I have gotten the bill for the previous fills and my insurance is balking on paying the cost. I had everything pre- approved and went thru all the red tape and my insurance did pay for most of my surgery but it seems that none of my fills were included with the cost of my surgery. My Dr. charges $380.00 for a fill and there is a $450.00 Facility charge on top of that for a grand total of $830.00 per visit. I feel as if I have been left in limbo and can not take advantage of my lapband because I cannot afford the cost of the fills to get the restriction to make it all work. I have read on some threads that people are paying as little as $100.00 per fill and would pay that myself if necessary. I live in Western Kentucky and had my lapband in Evansville, IN and would appreciate any info on qualified fill Doctors within a 2 hr drive from me. Has anyone else had this problem? I went to a really good reputable weight loss center and just did not realize that the fill would be so expensive or is it my insurance they are trying to rip off? Jenhay

    Outrageous fill costs

Hi All, Just got an official letter from my insurance stating that they will cover 12 adjustments total, so I am SO HAPPY. It has been a long process. It has taken 5 months to get everything straightend out as to whether they will cover the fills or not. It took 7 full months from the time I first went to a dr. about the lap band to the date of my surgery. Go figure! Now I can make an appt. and get that long overdue fill. Thanks everyone for all the information and help. Jenhay.

Hi, See you have not logged on in ages! Hope everythings going allright with you and your family. Finally got approved for 12 fills and I don't think there is an expiration, so If I need a fill in 2 yrs and Have not used them up my insurance will pay. Just need to make that appt. and get motivatede again. Still going to try and post some pictures soon, so hang in there. My Husband and 2 of my sons are going on a fishing trip in Alabama over the Easter Holidays so I am looking forward to 5 days all by myself. Actually I plan on painting one of the attic bedrooms. What fun! Hoipe you can get online soon. Enjoy chatting with you. Saw the picures of your twins and they are so cute! Wish that sometimes mine were that age again. Let me know how you and your band are gettin along. Jean(jenhay)

    Outrageous fill costs

Hi All, Thanks for your input on the costs of fills. I have a friend who had the lap band in Louisville and all her fill for the first year were included in the cost. She was a self-pay and I thought that was why it was included. I did get a call from my insurance today and they told me that my adjustments WOULD BE COVERED! But I still am not happy with this particular weight loss clinic charging so much. I realize that the clinic is a part of the hospital and I have to see the dietician each time I go but that should not mean they should charge a $450.00 fee each time I go to get a fill. I do not have a problem with the $380.00 Dr. fee as I can see from everyones' different fee amounts that it is not totally outrageous on its own. But the bottom line is that my insurance is going to pay so I can make an appt. to get that long overdue fill. Again, thanks for all the information that you all shared. Jenhay

Hi Mol, Just back from vacation in Florida and returned toi cold and dreary weather but next weeksw forcast is looking great. Gained about 3 lbs from eating so good and back on track tomorrow. Have to wait abvout 6 weeksw for another fill to make ure my insurance is going to pay. Needed one a month ago but just have to wait and see. My dr charges $380.00 and then the facility fee is $450.00 per fill. Seems like a rip off to me but that is the way things work in th U.S. with insurance companies and DR.'s and such. My insurance paid for the surgery and I assumed thry were going to pay for the fill also. Just have to wait and see. I have not lost any weight for 3 months other than a few lbs I have played with going up and then down. I am starting to wonder if this was the right thing for me to do? JenhaY

Hi Mol, Been very busy taking care of my grandaughter for a whole week and am exhausted. She is 1 year old and was sick and we even spent 3 days in the hospital with her. She and her mom live 3 hrs away from us and her mom goes to college full time so I went and picked her up to care for her so her mom would not miss any school. I had forgotten how tiring it can be to take care of a sick child. The up side is I lost that last 4 lbs that I had put on over the holidays. I am leaving to fgo on vacation to Florida on march. 9 and am so looking forward to sunshine and temps in the mid 70's to 80 degrees. It has been a long winter and I am ready for SUNSHINE. Write when you can and if you are planning a trip to the states, let me know. OK. will try and wite back soon myself. Jenhay

  12. Sounds great. Will probably start on Monday. Finally got electricity back yesterday and the last of my family left last night. Got off work at noon today and have been working non-stop since to try and get my house at least liveable again. I adore my family but I totally spoiled them growing up. I was a stay at home mom and I did everything for them and they really don't know how to keep a house. But thats what I get for having three boys and letting them be my whoile life for 25 yrs.! Talk to you all later. Thanks for inviting me. Edie, make sure you tell your husband that I said thank you for doing the kind of work that he does. I know we were without electricity for 8 days and water foir a couple of days, but if it had not been for all the great work from our utility guys it could have been a lot worse. Jenhay

Forgot to tell you that we just had the worst ice storm in Ky in a hundred yrs. I have not had electricity at my house for 6 days. Luckily we do have a generator which we are running 6 to 8 hrs a day to keep the fridge and freezer going and to heat the house. The whole family has been staying with me and my husband for 6 days and it looks like it might be for the next week or so. I hope and pray I make it thru it! Not used to having everyone here for that long of time. I have 3 of the most wonderful sons a mother could ask for, BUT, I have just adjusted to not having them live with me for the past 3 yrs. I had a very bad case of empty nest syndrome! Don't know when I will be able to post again but shoud sometime in the next 4 or 5 days. Stay in touch. I would like to have a friend in Ireland, Although I am not familiar enough to know which area you are from. Will research and look at a map. Maybe I can even e-mail you some pictures of where I live and of my family. Jenhay

Hi Mol, I am married with 3 sons age 35,28, and 24. The oldest is married with 2 children, the youngest just graduated with a masters degree in communication and has been dating his girlfriend for 4 yrs. She graduates with her degree in 4 months and maybe we will get to hear a wedding announcement! The 28 yr old is available and would love to live in Scotland or Ireland. He has been to both countries and would leave here in a heartbeat if he didn't have such a good job. The way our economy is looking he may get laid off and have the opportunity. George Bush really hurt the USA and it will take us a long time to recover. I am so Happy that Mr. Obama was elected our president. I had my band on July 31, 2008 and have lost a total of 35 lbs pre and post band. I really have had a slow go of it for the past 2 months though and really need to get things moving again. I would still like to lose 55 more lbs

  15. oh I forgot to mention that my whole family, ( married son/wife/2 grandkids, 2 single sons who live next door and 1 of their best friends and a girlfriend) has been staying with us for the past 6 days also. Empty nest syndrome is certainly a thing of the past, at least until we get electricity back!
  16. Hi You Two, Have not been on the net much for the last week considering the ice storm we had and the only electricity we have had for the last 6 days is from our generator which we only run for about 6 to 8 hrs a day, and we alternate the times so we can keep the house warm. would love to join you on your trip, just give me the details and as soon as my life gets back to half way normal, I will start. Edie, how are you doing in all this mess from the ice storm? I know you only live about 25 miles from me

Hi Mol, I decided to use my desk top cp instead of my lap top which seem to run slower and also to kick me off at the most inopportune times. I looked in on the Ireland forum again and it seems no one stays in touch much there, maybe due to connection problems, I'm not sure. Glad you got in touch with me and that you are doing better. Just got my 3rd fill right before our Thanksgiving holiday(not sure if you are famailiar with our holidays or not) which is about a month before Christmas. Had too much and had to get a slight unfill but think I am on the right track now. As I told you on my last post to you, I live in Kentucky, which in my opinion is the next best place to be than Ireland. I really think that Kentucky and Ireland look alot alike as far as all the green grasses and trees. Maybe that is why I did not get so homesick when I was there. I really did love it there. Hope you can write back soon and tell me about yourself and how you are doing with the lapband. Jenhay

Good to hear from you and to learn tthat you are doing well. My computer is acting crazy tonight and keeps kicking me off so I will keep this short for now and will try and write more in a few days. Jenhay from Kentucky

Hi all, Got on the scales and lost 2 lbs this week. Also seem to feel a little tighter since I started the pouch test. Is that also one of the benefits or is it my imagination? Jenhay

Hi Boos, I can sympathize with you because I am going thru the same thing right now. Donna is right about the 5 day pouch test. In fact, I started on it today and have stuck to it really well all day. I know it has only been 1 full day but I truly feel re-energized and am looking forward to tomorrow again. One day at a time. Hang in there and stay in contact because the encouragement I have gotten on this thread alone is helping me get back on track. Thanks everyone! Jenhay
  22. Hey Ladies! Where are you? Just happened to run across you all's little trip and wondered how you are doin. Are you getting any closer? Edie, I just noticed that we are from the same area! Jenhay

Thank you all for the information and maybe I will find time to check this out. I did try to do the ticker thing but it did't work for me. I did get all the info put in and made it down to where you are supposed to cut and paste and could not get it to do it for me. You nall probably think I am a real dummy. But I will keep trying. I have 3 wonderful sons and they are all computer whizzes. Guess they didn' get that form me! They have all been building computers since high school and would be happy to help me but I am really private about my LBS and not veryt many people know that I have had it done. Oh, I didn't mean that they didn"t know, jus not many others. There I go, rambling again. SORRY Jenhay
