Hey everyone, Finally got out of the house today to celebrate my one week anniversary of the "BAND'. Not really, I had a meeting I had to go to tonight so I left about 4 hrs early so I would have time toi visit my sister and my brother and wife also. Of course there was the Hell Mart stop too. For some reason I have not been inclined to tell very many people about my being banded. MY Husband and sons and daughter-in-laws, my sister (told her to not even tell her husband) and 2 close friends, one of which was banded a year and half ago. I also have 4 brothers that do not know and we are all very close, but I just wanted to stay as private as possible. If the rest of my girldfriends ever find out They are going to be so mad, but there are about 10 more close ones and with that many females it woul be imposssible to keep a secret. Do you all think I am being too secretive? Didn't mean to write a novel here, Sorry. Any way, one week post=op and the shoulder pain is gone as is most of the burps. It gets better every day.

I too was banded on july 31 and today nis the first day that I haven't felt the need for a pain pill. The shoulder pain was actually tolerable today. The burps still give me a sharp pain in tthe chest but I am learning to deal with that. I am concerned about the amount of food intaake and thinking I may be taking in too much. Its not really food, but the Full liquid diet, and I find that in order to get all my protewin in that I have to eat like 6 times a day. I try to boost the protien but it seems only the sweet protein drinks have the most and I am so sick of sweet shakes and stuff.

I was banded yesterday also, but because it was over an hours drive there, the Doc wanted me to stay the night. I checked in yesterdaY AT 11 thirty pm , had surgery at 1 thirty pm and left the hospital at 4 thirty pm this afternoon. Feel pretty good except for the shoulder pain from the gas which iI am taking gas-X for and the Dr. prescribed pain pills also. Good luck to you all. Jenhay

thanks latrice and dolly. i guess i just need someone to make me stop and think about what I am doing. I am doing this for a reason also and need to get my self together. I fully intend to stick with the pre-op diet for sure now. After all, I still have 8 more days and I know I can do this! thanks jenhay -

Also would like to know why so many doctors differ on the pre-surgery diets. I know about the liver and wonder if that is what the liquid diet is for then why do some doctors put some of us on for 1 day or 4 days and even 2 or 3 weeks. I know I had to purchase my Optifast from my weight loss clinic and am wondering if part of the 2 week thing is just to sell the product. anyone got any answers? dr -

hi to everyone, I am having my band on the 31st of july. Saw my Dr. on friday of last week and he had a cancellation so he worked me in.for that day. He usually puts all his patients on the 2 week optifast, but since he was working me in he said 10 days would be ok. I started on the optifast on Sunday and have allready messed up and now I am worried also. Our garden corn came in today and I couldnt resist, so I ate 4 ears before I knew it. I still have 8 full days until surgery and am hoping I didnt mess everything up. This has worried me all day and I know I wont mess up again. -

crystal. went to see dr. haughn on friday and finally got as band date. JULY 31. i am so excited and nervous too. let me hear from you and i would like to hear how you are doing and what to expect. they want me to stay overnight and i wasnt expecting that. i thought i would have the surgery that morning and go home that night. is it usual to stay overnight? jenhay

hey melissa, wish i could tell you the difference but all i know is that i started my journey on jan 29, 08 and still havent had the band. i go on friday to see the surgeon for the second time and according to everything i have been told i should get a surgery date. it is a long process and involves all sorts of tests and consultations. sometimes it seems neverending. it seems i have been waiting for this so long that i am starting to lose interest and am not folowing the program as closely as i shoud be. i have quit writing in my food journals and not even trying to eat properly. maybe that will change when i get a date. i sure hope so cause i feel like i have been put on the back shelf or on hold, so to speak. good luck on your journey and i hope it goes by quicker for you. jenhay

heyt crystal, just got my computer back from sony and feel like ihave been gone forever. saw dr haughn last week and have another appt. with him on the 18th. maybe even get a band date. dr haughn found out i had had a stress test and echocardiogram and wanted the results from those befoire surgery, which is good that he wants to kn ow as much as possible before performing the band on me.let me know where you areon your journey. i do have questions on where and what to buy as far as my foods and proteins and stuff. i know that i will have to buy a 2 week supply of optifast fromm there but really dont know what else i need. maybe i will find outext week. later jenhay

hey sis, just got my computer back today. had to send it bak to sony and have the hard drive reconfigured. jsut now trying it out and hope it works ok..how are things going with you. i go back on the 18th to see the surgeon for the second time and hopefully get a band date. it seems like everything has gone wrong for me and i feel likme this is never going top happen. i have been on major antibiotics for 2 weeks because they founds a bacteria in ther lining of my stomach and that has to be cleared up. it just seems neverending. let me know how you are. later, jenhay

hi crystal, sorry my computer is down and i am borrowing my friends tonight. should get mine back next week. thoght i would let you know that i have an appt. with dr. haughn on july 3 at 2 oclock. i am sort of concerned that i havent done enough on my part to prepare for this. my friend that had this done told me not to worry that every thing will fall into place when i see the surgeon and that it would seem more real to me. i just cant seem to follow meal plans or to drink enough, especially water, which i totally dislike. what to do? how are you doing and how is the weight loss coming? jenhay

donna, my thoughts and prayers are with you even though i find that i dont do nearly enough anymore. praying that is. your post touched me also and sounded so much like how i feel. thing is, theres a whole bunch of US out there. maybe we can all help each other and just maybe thats how GOD gets back in the picture...........my computers on the blink and i have really missed getting on here and seeing how every one is doing. should be up and running next week i hope cause if i am out of touch with you all i dont seem to do as well myself. hope to talk again soon and everyone try and stay positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!jenhay

hey BG08 and famrica, guess what! my next appt was scheduled for july 2 with dr. koeler whom i have been seeing since i started this jpurney. i had really thought that i would have been approved by now and alllready had the surgery. but things do not always go as planned. antway the office called the other day and re-scheduled me for july because the dr was going to be out on vacation. so i am thinking its going to be another month before i even get to see a surgeon. BUT THEY CALLED TODAY AND SCHEDULED ME TO SEE THE SURGEON ON JULY 3. i am so excited. i feel like i am on my way! my computer is on the blink and should be fixed by next week so if you all dont hear from me that is why. talk yo you all soon...........jenhay -
My computer has been down so just got it up and running this morning. I felt lost not being able to get on this site and see how everyones doing. I went to the dr. on wed. and he is still eaiting on a test result to send to insurance so i can get approved. still no band date. possibly late july. saw my regular dr for a check up and he has now put me on diABETES meds for type 2. he assured me it could be reversible if i could lose the weight! wish the insurance would hurry up. keep in touch............jenhay

HI, just thought i would check in let you know that i went back to my regular dr. for a scheduled check up last thursday and he has put me on medication for type 2 diabetes now. If i get this surgery and lose the weight it can be reversible, so pray that i get a surgery date soon. My lap band dr. is still waiting on a test result to send to my insurance co. so i can hopefully get approved. Any way it looks like it will be a late july or possibly middlile aug. surgery if i do get approved. things just seem to move so slowly. How are doing? I know you told me that you had lost 17 lbs last i heard from you. that is great! are you feeling OK? let me know hopw you are doing. talk later...jenhay

hi there famrika, i am going to the Deaconess weight loss center and I have been seeing Dr. Keahlor {spelling it wrong!} pronounced Kay-lor, for the last 4 a half months. I have not actually seen the surgeons yet and won"t until my insurance has approved and given the go ahead. you should think about going ahead and making an appt. because it is a long drawn out process. there are classes and tests and support group meetings that are mandatory that you complete before they will do the surgery. you can go into my personal profile and leave me a message an d it will be easier for me to find.
