    Question... need help.... silly

Starr Congrats on getting your banding date. I havent had any problems with eating in the mornings, matter of fact my doctor tells me I should eat first chance I get in the mornings so that my metobalism kicks as soon as possible. I think it might just be what you are use to, but like you all said we are different. Good luck and keep us posted

Ok I had my first fill

Ok I had my first fill Friday, I was neverous as crap so I made sure I took my blood pressure meds, my heart meds, and yes a xanax. OK are you noticing what I didnt notice? I am having my feel so that means nothing but fluids after that, ughhhhhhhh I forgot to eat breakfast! Hmmm maybe I should look at that as a NSV. Now about the fill, I found out I have a 10 cc band, which is I think the largest one they make. Dr.Gritsus filled me with 3.5 cc, at first I am not sure how much he put in but he had to take some out. He was viewing the floroscope so he was able to see the barium that I was drinking going down to judge the amount of fill. There was no pain at all but a very unusal feeling, I am not so sure I would even call it pressure. Ok I stayed on liquids for the rest of the day ........ok almost, I had cream potatoes and gravy from KFC, I mean that is instant potatoes so it was just like a liquid. Now I still have very very little to no restriction. Ughhhhh so I called the doctor Monday to complain and here is what he said..... You went through the healing stage and made it, now your going through the learning stage. Now is the time to learn to slow down, chew very very well and to start thinking about what you are eating. You can't do this if you are pbing and slimming, all you will think about is the pain. He said you trusted me to do your band now trust me to make the right decisions on your fills. Now how do you argue with that? He told me to get on the scales that I might be surprised, and OMG, I have lost 9.5lbs!!! I couldnt believe it, I mean I knew that I had cut back some on what I was eating but I also know all that chocolate isnt a good thing either! I have another appointment in 2 weeks. I have decided to act like I have restriction and see what happens. My journey to discovering who I am has began. (is that suppose to be begun, I could never get that right) Oh I am swelling today, ughhhhhhh must be getting to be my time of the month again, oh lovely!:rolleyes

Ms Vickie My doc did tell me to look at it this way too......... We had to have big size bands yes but our stomachs are getting smaller cause when we had to band placed that what size we needed. Now that we dont have any restirction means the stomach is now smaller, yeahhhhhhhhh. Thats the silver lining I have been looking for. I have noticed that my wedding rings are a bit looser, and now I know my band is a bit looser too! hmmmm I wonder if they will end up filling my band to full? 10 whole ccs. hmmmmmmmm maybe I will ask him when I go back in 2 weeks. Hang in there Vickie, us big bander gals got to stick together

    Update...

I am sooooooooo excited for you!!!!!! Let's dance! After having not 1 not 2 but 3 c-sections and being a 300 lbs for a while I know that I will have an "apron" of skin. I am a size D now but I am sure I will be able to tuck em my pants before this is all over, so I better start saving now huh? Ok very personal question and please dont feel you have to answer me, but does the "kitty" sag as well, and if it does do they pull all that skin up and remove it when doing the TT? I am still so excited for ya!!! It must be an amazing feel to reach your goal and see all your hard work finally pay off!!

Stacey, I tried the link and it sent me to hotmail, is that right??? And TY TY TY, I am still doing the band dance. I have no idea about the port , to be honest I try and not feel mine. I try to keep my hands away from it and I try to avoid anything that might bump it. Do you think you might be swelling? I know my band itself becomes tight when I have my period.

    Update...

WOW Girl , you look amazing!! I bet you feel like a new woman. I know that I am going to have to have the same thing done, but I am such a BIG CHICKEN!!! Kelly, did any insurance pay for any of this, I have heard they will pay from some of plastic surgery in certain cases. (like skin discoloring , or rashes from hangin skin) I am amazed at how caring you are to share these pictures with us, that takes a big heart. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

    February 2006 bandsters unite!!

GOOD Tuesday all!! Ya'll arent going to believe this but I have lost 9.5 lbs!!!!!:clap2: Making my grand total now 40lbs since Feb8th! Oh I am doing the band dance:dance: ! I have no restriction so far, I cant believe it. I did call my doctor yesterday, here is what he told me........ I have a 10 cc band, that doesnt surprise me, I carry most on my weight in my tummy! He said that he didnt want to give me full restriction yet, he wanted me to still be able to eat some what normal meals still. He said this is the learning stage, I have made it through the healing stage, but now I have to learn to live with the band. Which means learning to concentrate on the food that is in my mouth, chewing well, learning not to drink and eat at the same time and to think about the food choices I am making. He said he doesnt want me pbing or in pain from over eating. Once this lesson is learn and I feel I am ready he would gladly add more to the band. But to slow down and make sure I am mentally prepared for the restriction that awaits me. Funny thing he knows that I am in a hurry, he said 99% of his patience are but that I had to trust him. This is a life long journey I need to be in trainning for, kinda like running a marathon, you have to train for months before the actual race begins. Then he told me to weight myself that I just might be surprised and OMG:eek:. 9.5 gone for good!!!!!! So I guess I am trusting my doc ya'll, I trusted him enough to let him put my band in I have to trust him that he knows what is best for my fills!!! I am thinking about naming my band, oh brother I am just as twisted as Janet and Mike!!

Good Monday, ok is that an oxymoron? lol sorry I couldn't resist. Hope everyone had a great weekend! I had my first will on Friday and I dont think it is working. I receieved 3.5 cc, now I thought the same thing your probably thinking, (thats alot for a first fill) so I asked what sized band do I have. He said he didnt know without looking at my chart, which was at his office. When he first filled my band he said he had put too much in so he took some out, now I am thinking maybe he should have left it in. UGHHHHH! Tap tap tap on stomach is this thing on? Do I call my doctor and say I can eat like I am still not banded? Janet- you rock girl! You always seem so upbeat and full of energy! Sandy- congrats on the 25 lbs! I am sure it will start coming off again so, you just hit a speed bump is all! Julie- I am less than 20 minutes from NYC, if you ever make it into the city let me know. I'm So Depressed -- Please Help

Xann, Hang in there girl, a lot of us have been in the same boat, here take my life jacket for a while. I have dealt with a lot of depression since my banding. I try and remember that we all started at different weights so we are gonna lose differently as well. Some of us are turles and some are rabbits, but look on the bright side, you are lossing, yes it is slow, but lossing, its a blessing. My first visit back to the doctor I had gained 10 lbs back from the weight I had lost during my all liquids stage. This is a life time journey so dont be so hard on yourself, I think to myself " I didnt get this heavy over night and I am not going to lose it over night". I believe your period has something to do with weight gain, I know I bloat something awful, so Water weight will get to you. Drink more water, sounds crazy but it helps flushes the extra water away. We all are here if you need us, vent, cry or even cuss....you're not alone!

Happy Friday ya'll!! Ok I just got back from my first fill!!!!!!!! Ok I will admit I was soo neverous, but I have to say it was uneventful. I went in and they had me put on one of those hosiptal gowns leaving the opening in the front, I got to leave my bra and pants on. He had me lay down on the table, said he promised me he wouldnt hurt me. (he knows what a big chicken I am) I felt a very small prick, not even as bad as a bee sting, then he said ok here we go, ok it is a funny feeling, but not one once of pain. The tech handed me a small cup of barum and said take one large drink, the doctor said ok not enough, he filled some more then ask me to drink again, all the while he doctor kept asking me if I was ok, (he is the greatest I have to admit). Then my fill was too much, so he said drink again and I was finished. I got a totally of 3.5, I thought that was a lot but apparently that is what I needed. I have to stay on liquids the rest of the day but can start back on soilds tomorrow. **DEEP BREATH** now the real work begins. Ok I did go out last night and have a steak, baked potatoe, salad, and chocolate cake. WOW.........ok I had little less than half the steak, a small salad , almost 3/4 the potatoe and hmmmmmmm maybe 5 bites of the cake before my DL polished it off. I am sitting here thinking man I wished I had ate some Breakfast before this fill, its going be a long day!!! There were several of us that had fills this week, we all seem to be right on track, way to go Feb bandters! Have a great weekend all, and no pbing or pain for any of us! God Bless

Home from hospital - my band slipped.

Anne, Thanks for letting us know you are ok, you were in our thoughts and prayers. I am glad to see yoru doctor was able to catch the slip band and get you a new one. Hey maybe you got an upgrade. I do have a question tho, I know they say the insurance companies will pay to have a slipped band removed, but will they pay again to have it replaced as you did? Heal fast and feel better always.
