That seems unusual. I have had 2 bariatric surgeries and both times was given not only pain meds, but also prescription stomach meds/acid reducers and anti-nausea medications. Are you having surgery in the US?

Glad you are feeling the bounce up! Best wishes for your return to work.

Ready Made Vegan Protein Shake
Circlesis replied to Kaypea's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
GNC lean shakes are lactose free and 25 grams protein. I like the strawberry flavor but there are several to choose from. These are ready made and quite thin, which is what I like about them. Easy to drink. -
I had a noticeable improvement about day 7. Returned to work day 8 but still significantly tired as the day goes on and using Tylenol throughout the day.

Is duodenal switch too drastic?
Circlesis replied to Bon Bon Jovi's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Resolution rates per Research for both diabetes and hypertension are also best with it. These factored in for my decision as well., Another thing I learned in the process I asked almost this exact question of my surgeon the morning of at the hospital. Basically I said is this too much?? His reply made a lot of sense, he gave his reasons (partly due to this being a revision and therefore not going full deal right out the gate at my lower BMI. Etc The main point I wanted to give is that he explained that he was going to titrate my DS to match my specific current goals and needs per my BMI. In the end I agreed and went ahead and had it done that day. -
Congrats on your long term success! No real words of wisdom, but the possibility of intermittent fasting comes to mind if you haven’t yet been that route.

Need to hear from VSG to DS revisioners

Post op day 11: Revn from Sleeve to DS. Bad glue reaction spread but I think it is thinking about turning a corner. Eating Greek yogurt (key lime chibani and oikos), lean shakes, blended soups like tomato, broccoli cheese and lentils. Still drinking pedialyte mixed with water. The reason is because I am finding it difficult to stay on top of my fluids at work so I want to make sure I don’t get dehydrated. That is an issue I need to take on next week. Next food stage cooking is mushy foods in a couple days. Liquids, I will miss ya but not that much! Onward. -

Post op day 7 update: returned to work today and survived it. My main issue right now is a terrible reaction to the Dermabond surgical glue. The itch and red bumps with rash are horrid!! Applying cortisone cream and trying to pick off all the glue (doctor said it’s ok). Other than that I have progressed to full liquids and they go down just fine. Occasionally throughout the day I get a serious of slightly sharp pangs in the abdomen. Not sure but hoping this is just part of the healing process. Using Tylenol only except now nights since the horrible inflamed glue itch started. Switched from pain pills on days 4-5. On ward! -
I would like to add too that during the pre and post op diet stages you will detox all of the sugar and junk out of your system completely. As you add foods back in during the weeks after surgery, you will ultimately choose what will be part of your new normal diet.

Revision to DS on 10/6 here so only 6 days behind you.

I like the Oikos triple zero too! Coconut, Vanilla or Key Lime. I find them to be less sweet than the light n fit, which I do not care for. Also better texture.

Getting rid of old/large clothes - too soon?
Circlesis replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My feet never went down. If anything they grew larger with age. -
These are good suggestions, also if you wish to avoid lard you can go with a bowl of charro bean soup or some places have chicken tortilla soup. You will fill up very fast so just be mentally prepared. Enjoy!

Period starting around surgery day
Circlesis replied to SAS11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would either reschedule or try the pill route if that would work. Having just been through revision surgery this week it is very fresh in my mind and I would not want to deal with that situation myself on top of everything else! -

Need to hear from VSG to DS revisioners

Quick update! Surgery was Tuesday morning and stayed in hospital until 4pm next day. Home now and doing well. Doc only added the DS of intestines so nothing else was touched. There had been talk of possibly resleeve or remove gallbladder. First day I felt amazing and was up walking around like a champ. Day 2 was the worst so far. Bad heartburn but the nurse was able to get me a dose a Maalox. As of now I am sleeping in bed but up in a sitting position with pillows. Omeprazole is working to control reflux. Did anyone else do a swallow test while still in the hospital? Lingering diarrhea from the barium liquid. Been drinking pedialyte mixed with 50% water which is working really well for me. Onward! -

Yay @gottabeblair so happy. Sounds like you had a super smooth procedure. Sorry about the reflux but hopefully will subside! Curious if you are having any bathroom issues with it? How much do you want to lose with his revision? I did a one week preop, pretty easy. I think I lost about 5. Surgery early tomorrow morning. Hopefully with a nice easy recovery! -

Is duodenal switch too drastic?
Circlesis replied to Bon Bon Jovi's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Statistics show better long term results with DS. I’m revising from sleeve to DS for this reason. In retrospect I wish I had the chance to do it all at once instead of sleeve only. I’m not a super high BMI. Then again at the time I had sleeve done 6 years ago, I didn’t think there was any way that I would ever regain so there’s that. 🤷♂️
