Ok, I was banded on Monday April 17th. I am feeling pretty good but I am having some weird feelings. I am not sure what they are. Let me try to explain and see if anybody knows what they are. I tried to search for all post about gas but nothing came up. I think it is gas but my main concern is when it will go away. If I am laying down and get up I get this thing in my throat. It hurts pretty bad and it kinda leads into a hic up or something. Does this make since? Is this gas too?????? Then in the afternoons after I have done a good bit of activity, my stomach hurts SO bad. It moves around, like gas. I have never had gas like this in my life, but finally in the morning I will be able to poot and it won't hurt again till the afternoon. Sorry for the detailed information but I am desperate to know what this is. Does everybody have this? Or just some people? Why do you get it? When am I suppose to have a BM? I am still on liquids for another week.

Class ring. I can't even wear my WEDDING RING! And trust me it is something to be worn proud!!!!! Not bragging just saying. But I am on my way. One day I will post that it fits.

I know. I never even thought to ask because I was sure that they would use stitches at least. It never crossed my mind that he might use STAPLES. But whatever, nothing I can do now. I am pretty sure that it will heal with no track marks from the staples.

Well, what do I say. I had surgery Monday April 17th in Birmingham, AL. I am so happy. I feel alot better than I thought I was going to. I have a question for those who have already done this. I have this weird feeling in my stomach/chest like I have to burp or hic up or something. It kinda hurts but it goes away pretty fast. I am still on clear liquids so is it just my stomach growling or something. I have not had any nausea so far.:clap2: Any advice is welcome!!!!!!! I am all ears.If there is anyone else that has just been banded, email me and we can compare stories! dsgreen@htcnet.net

Elizabeth Don't scare me like that! I read up on hiatal hernias and this is what I found. This was under "When to seek medical advice" Many people discover they have hiatal hernias when they see their doctors about heartburn. Most cases of heartburn are mild and temporary. But if your symptoms are severe, occur often, or are accompanied by coughing, wheezing, asthma, a sore throat, difficulty swallowing or chest pain, talk to your doctor. I am not having heartburn or trouble swallowing or any of the others. I just have a weird feeling like a hic up. My stomach does hurt but if I have enough gas in there, that would be the reason. The pain will get real bad and then you can hear my stomach errrrr, I can feel something move, then it is instant relief, for a litle while anyway. so I don't think this is my problem. But if it continues for more that 2 or 3 weeks then I will start to worry. I don't like being scared.

Well, I went to the Dr. and got the staples out. They are still red but feel SOOOOOOOO much better.Doc said no serious infection. It was oosing a little, he said to wash good, keep clean and it would be fine. So, I will put more pictures up when it gets better. I will probably put that in a scar thread too. I am starting another thread with some other problems/questions that I have. Yall might can help me with that too. Thank you! To: TheWomanWithin I do no think that every Dr. uses the same. Some use stiches, some use derma bond, some use staples.

Hey Everybody! I called my Doc this morning and I am going this afternoon. He is going to take the staples out today and if there is infection he will treat it. (That is what nurse said) I want to thank everyone who gave advice, cause I was a total wreck! I could not sleep at all last night, I was up till 2ish. Oh well. Well I will let yall know what he says this afternoon. I am a quick healer so my feeling is that it will be fine, even if it may have some slight infection. One more question. Those of you who have had stapels. Or nurses? Is there any trace of the staples after you are healed. Like scaring or anything. I think they are called track marks? But I think that is only if they are left in an extened amout of time, right. I had someone email me and explain something like this. Well I heal and don't scar alot so I am not to worried but I am just curious. At first my incisions looked GREAt and I was so excited of how they were hardly visible. Besides the staples. Now I am a little disappointed becasue of the redness and inflamation. I will let yall know this evening how it all went!!!! Thanks so much

I think you are suppose to average 2 to 3 pounds per week. You are doing fine. Just keep on keepin on and it will start coming off again.
-
I have been putting neosporin on them since I left the hospital. He said that was ok. I have the tool to take out the staples. I know how to do it. I have done it before. I have a friend who is a nurse and I have learned alot from her. Don't want you to think I am just going to go nuts and start doing something i know nothing about. So... if I have to I can take them out. What do ya think?

I have lost 13 or so pounds since the 17th.

If nothing else the support boards tell you to get off your butt and exercise. No one on here that I know of has said don't exercise, eat more, and enjoy being fat. It's the exact opposite. Some People come here when they are hungry and type their feelings instead of going to the kitchen and eating tons of food. I am irritated just typing this so I am going to stop. My mom always says, "Everything in moderation"

When yall say liquids that means yall are allowed to have protein shakes and soup and stuff. My Dr. says clear liquids for 2 weeks. Like water, broth, gatorade. No protein or soup or anything. I am not really hungry but I feel horrible. So I really want to have a protein shake. I have been reading and reading, I don't see how I can do this for another week and still walk.

I have a question. I am so tired. I mean really tired. Like I said before I am on clear liquids for 2 weeks. I can't do this for that long. I am not hungry I just feel horrible. I want to make a protien shake so bad. I have read and it seems that skim milk is ok. So here is what I am thinking. 1 lowfat yogurt, 1 scoop of soy protien, some ice and some skim milk. Blend for a long time and drink slowly. How could this be so bad? I do not want to do anything to damage my band but I need something to make me feel alive. Please help me. -

I am 5 days out of surgery. I am on clear liquids for 2 weeks, water, broth, gatorade, ect. no grapfruit, orange, or anything with pulp in it. I am allowed sugar free jello. Then anything you can suck through a straw for 4 weeks. Then certain foods are ok but not red meat and things like that. -
I was banded on April 17th. I am doing great. I am at work today so.. I guess that's good. I have lost 10 pounds in about 5 days. I figure when I can eat the mushies I might gain some back. I have been on clear liquids for a week now. I am still pretty bloated in my stomach but maybe it will go down soon. I think the 10 lbs came out of my boobs! YEAH!!!! maybe it's just me but they look alot more saggy than they did last week. Oh well, I don't care. That is what great bras are for. :Banane56: I am so excited, I can't wait for 6 months to pass.

I was tired of being fat and decided to do something about it. I got off my butt and started exercising. This is what I plan on saying. It's true -
I am a size 20 or 22 (5' 11") I wore a 20 in Old Navy Jeans today. I want to be in a size 8 or 10. We have this thing every year. It is called the River Festival, it is the last week end of April. Well I have not went for 2 years cause I am so fat and I live in a small town so you see everybody in the world, people you have not seen in years!!! SO my goal is to be a size 8 or 10 by next years River Festival so I can go and feel normal again. I live in South Alabama so it is real hot, everyone is wearing shorts and tanktops and some bathing suits. So I would just look stupid if I was wearing jeans or something. I am scheduled for Lap Band on April 17th!!!! Be Honest, for those of you who have done this, is this a realistic goal? I promise I will exercise and eat right and really do everything that I am suppose to do. This is a real question so please answer it. I want to set realistic goals for myself but I can't without having input from others. Thanks Yall

Saying Goodbye to shaving legs that have a surface area of most peoples entire body. Saying Goodbye to chafing inside of legs. Saying Goodbye to rolls of fat that keep me from bending how I want to Saying Goodbye to the fat under my arms that waves by it's self Saying Goodbye to plus size clothes forever Saying Goodbye to being over the weight limit on most outdoor chairs Saying Goodbye to looking like a fat dummy in a Honda Accord, I will finally fit in it. Saying goodbye to my knees not hurting Saying goodbye to my shorts riding up in between my legs The one thing that I look most foward to is wearing my wedding ring. I refused to have it resized, so now I can' t wear it. Center Diamond is 2 ct. radiant cut in platinum. with baggetts on the sides. My husband always ask me, why don't you wear you wedding ring? Well I will soon. I can't wait to wear sexy strappy shoes, if you have fat feet they just don't look right. I will be able to find shoes period!!!!!!!!!!!! That is all for now. Love this thread. -

Everyone's situation is different. Some people can keep off weight and others can't. In my situation I got extreamly sick and gained 80lbs in 3 to 4 weeks, before that I was thin and exercised everyday and did not have a problem. After I gained weight, it got to hard to exercise everyday and so on...... I am just saying that it is different for everyone. I know for me I can keep off the weight when I loose it.

Joe310 Who was your doctor? I am having lap band in 2 weeks in Birmingham. Just curious

I am selfpay and fills are 125.00

I guess the reason why I am so terrified of this subject is because I am paying $15,000 for my band, so if something goes wrong it will cost me another 5 or 10 thousand to get it removed or "fixed" I am willing to pay 15 for the band but I can't imagine paying to get it removed and then paying to get another one. I could not spend 40 thousand or how much ever it may cost to do all this. So I am praying that this is the right thing for me, I don't expect it to last forever but I would like 5 to 10 years, I hope by then I will know how to eat and can keep off the weight myself. Gastric Bypass is not an option for me, and will never be so it is this or nothing. I am planning that in about 5 years I will have to pay to have it removed, if I get longer great, but it is all worth it to me. I don't want to be like this my whole life. I am 20 years old and I have a lot of life left, but if I continue to eat and gain weight, there is no telling the problems that I will face in the future. Scheduled for LB on April 17th!!!!
