What's the worst thing someone said to you?
YeeHaw replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A good friends stopped talking to me and ended our friendship because she said, "I was going to change when I lost weight" WHAT BULL CRAP I think she was just worried that I would be skinnier than her. Oh Well, her loss not mine. -
No, you are not being mean. She still needs to loose some lbs.
-
I agree, they talked like it was a bad thing to have WLS!!!!! I mean, the second girl obvously had plastic surgery to remove excess skin, Did they ask her about that? No. I guess they think that all fat people can't make babies or birth them. It really sounded like they did not interview them before they came on stage. That might have been a good idea! Whatever, we all know that it is not the easy way out.

Carmille, I posted some more pictures if you want to talk a look. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/before-and-after-t4642p39.html

Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
YeeHaw replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My other pictures are on page 33. I have stopped losing weight as fast but I am still exercising and eating right. This too shall pass. -
Carmille, I have posted a lot of information about me. Here are some links. Or you can just go to my profile and read all my post. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/r-u-re-t26479.html?t=26479 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/april-2006-bandsters-t25463.html?p=336414 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/why-not-admit-t25718.html PAGES 1 & 2 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/downside-being-banded-t25658.html?p=331346 http://www.lapbandtalk.com/before-and-after-t4642.html?p=330202 The last one are pictures. I have lost about 10 to 15 more pounds since that picture. I will update soon. Please feel free to email me. If you are still having serious doubts (not just the norm) then I would say you are not ready. You will get to a point when you know that is what you need and want. I was sooooo excited to have the surgery. I know that realisticly there is a good chance that I will not have the band forever, I will have to pay about 5,000 to have it removed. I discussed all this with my doc before surgery. As you can see I was self pay, I am so happy and would do it again if I needed to. I know that I could not be where I am today without the band.
-
Well, What do you weigh? What would you like to weigh? Is insurance paying for it? What are you doubting? What did the doc say that changed your mind? I ask all these questions because depending on your answers, the advise will be different. It is normal to doubt. Don't be so hard on yourself. I look forward to your responce.

I have never heard of this. This is weird.

I did not ask what they would use to stitch me up with. When I took the bandaids off I realized that they used staples, which I am very allergic to. So,,,, I was at home when I realized it and was miserable for 5 days. Had to drive the 3 hours back and get removed. I have pretty bad scaring because of this. They would have used stitches if I had ask.

Mine are shrinking as we speak. The skin doesn't shirink but what is in it does. I am 21 years old and I have saggy boobs. Oh well. I don't care. I will get them fixed after I have kids on day.

This is funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had this same thing. I believe that the port hose is rubbing on a rib or something. When you eat it moves it. It will pass. May take a month or so, but I know exactly what you are talking about. I did lots of stomach exercises. It moved it back and now I am fine. I know this may sound crazy but it worked for me.

Dr. Phil tomorrow with Sharon Osborne
YeeHaw replied to Chris S. - L.I.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did not know she even had one? Why, she was never that big? -
I am 5'11 so I am pretty thin at 175. Plus I am a large fram person. Big Bones. I am 240 right now and wear an 18. (Comfortably) Sometimes a 16. I remember when I got my vessel license (boat) the lady ask what I weighed and I honestly told her about 200. She proceded to tell me that I did not weigh 200, there was no way and that I must have not seen a scale in a while. She put on my license that I weighed 150. It made my day!!!!! I was so happy. I am still WAY overweight and I hope that I can get to 175. It is so weird. When I am putting on my pants, size 18, I look at them and I just know that there is no way my big butt is going to fit in them, and then it does!!!!! I will be happy at a 12, 14 or 10. I really don't care. I just want to be able to shop at ALL the stores!!!!!! and find something that fits besides a scarf! I really just want to be healthy looking and not overweight looking. I don't mind some "meat" I actually prefer a little. I think we all do. I don't know anyone who really wants to look like those starving Victoria Secret Models. Did any one see that the other night?
-
I really want to fit into an 8. I don't care what weight that is. I used to wear a juniors 9 or 11 so that is a womans 8. (I think) That was at about 175. So, I guess I will see when I get there.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
YeeHaw replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
My only feeling is on wellfare. I think that people should only get money for up to 3 kids, after that they do not get a check for any more. -
It's not about weight as much as it is about health. You have plenty of time to loose weight with the band. Yes it will take longer and you will have to try harder that you would if you have the bypass. Think about this. With the band you will eventually be able to eat foods that you will NEVER be able to eat with bypass. (Sweets and rich food) With bypass sweets make you so sick b/c how your body absords them. I have seen my aunt (had bypass) be sooooo sick from one bite of Cheesecake that it ruined her whole (like 6 hours) night. In my opinion. The only thig good about bypass is that you loose weight faster , and even that is not good becasue you are left with lots of loose skin. I could have had bypass, insurance would ahve paid 100% I chose to have lap band and pay 15,000 of my own money. Just know what you are deciding, and do your homework. Don't worry about the weight(how much, how fast), just do what you think is most healthy for you. email me if you would like.

I just want to look like I used to look. About 3 years ago. I know that I may have some loose skin but I don't think it will be very much. I may just have it removed later on if I do have any. I want to wear a size 10 in anything I want to wear sleeve less and feel HOT! I have a backless shirt that I used to wear, I want to wear it eventually. I liked that comment about being hit on in a bar. I think I want that too. (I am also married but, what fun) Go back to my hometown and NOT duck behind stuff when I see someone I know.

I have "You the owners manual" and I really have learned a lot. I think I will purchase the other one. I hate reading for pleasure, but when I am reading to learn something, I love it.

Taking a hot bath dehydrates you so be very careful. It can cause muscle cramps. You don't realize how much you sweat when in a bath! That is why when you get out you are sometimes dizzy. Drink a protien shake, it helps muscles recover. Your muscles need protien to heal. Do drink water

Is anyone else planning on having a lil' unfill at goal?
YeeHaw replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It depends. I will see when I get there. I want to still be on my toes and have to look to myself to not over eat, I do not want to have to depend on the band to tell me to stop or pb. So, hopefully I will have it under control and be able to maintain on my own more than the band. So, yes I plan on it. -
Well at least your inlaws say something! Mine are so jealous and rude, they say NOTHING. I mean come on. Just say I look good. I have lost 50 pounds and yes it is obvious. Size 22 or 24 to 18. Everyone else notices, so I would think they could say something but nope. They don't know that I had wls, no one does, but hubby and mom. before and after are posted in Before and After Pictures - PIX ONLY thread. Page 34.

In April 2006 - 285 This morning - 235 Down 50 Pounds!!!! I bought a size 18 this week. My goal is 180 or 185 in April 2007.
-
I am so happy, I bought an 18 in jeans Saturday! I also bought a 16 in some other pants to look foward to. I have stopped losing weight like I was but I am now exercising everyday and trying to help it along. My goal was to be 180 on the last weekend of April 2007. (Big Event) It's not just weight, I guess I want to wear about a size 12 or 14. I will get there, I just have to try harder. But I am very happy.

YeeHaw replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just decided to get off my butt and do something about it.
