How long does this gas stay with you?
sharont81 replied to jln's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gas will get better, I had it bad for about one week. I found walking and moving as much as I could helped me. The pain though in my left shoulder had me in tears. It does get better, if you are unsure call your doctor. Better to be safe. Hang in there!!! -

I am also a military wife and had my surgery completed at the Air Force Academy here in the Springs. My husband told me a couple of weeks ago that Tri-Care finally has approved the surgery and fills. I know what you mean about the seat belts, I would not ride anything at Disney World two years ago, I also was at the end of the seatbelt for the airlines and was going to have to ask for an extension. Like you, I do not want to be skinny just healthy and able to live a long and healthy life. I have no photos also except for the one that my principal made me take for the year book and I am SOOOOOO over weight in the picture. I am now glad to have that photo - it keeps me in check when I am stressed and want to eat just to eat. Lap band has changed my life in such a positive way - I will never go back to the way I was. Hang in there!!! I am here if you need support. -
Greetings, I am new to this site and am glad to have found some support. I have been on my own since I decided to start this path back in March of 2007. I am so glad to have decided to take a leap and have the surgery, my life is so different. I feel like I have been reborn and life is good. I am a military spouse and mom plus banded. I will be visiting this site!!!!

First Steps take - nervous and depressed?
sharont81 replied to SciTeach's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Greetings - I was so scared about my lapband and I have depression also. I have found for me there are certain foods I can no longer eat at all. I love Chinese food and can no longer eat any of it even if I make it at home. I also have found that I can not eat bread, bagels, muffins, donuts etc... which is a good thing. I am a carb girl but since losing almost 45 pounds I truly do not miss the food at all. I have learned to drink A LOT of Water and flavored water. I gave up diet soda which to me was the hardest of everything to do. When I feel like I have to have something I take a small bite and move on. I do not want to PB and throwing up is not pleasant. I would not change having lap band and am so happy to have it done. I am a school counselor like you working in a school is so HARD. There is always food and junk around, I carry my water around like my planner book. I hope this helps. Hang in there!!!
