    Al Roker & Carnie Wilson????

If you don't drink water, you get dehydrated, which is never a good thing. Also, your body sends out much the same signals when you are thirsty as when you are hungry. So what you might be calling "hunger" is actually thirst. Keep your body hydrated and you'll be less hungry, your body will function better, and you will feel better.
  2. Honey, you had surgery yesterday. That's about as far from normal as you can get. It WILL get better. Just give yourself time.

    Al Roker & Carnie Wilson????

The question about "old-timers" has come up before. I agree with Julie's theory that they are away from the computer, living the lives they've worked so hard for. There is another side to the coin too, unfortunately. Some successful people here have actually gotten nasty and mean posts from people who are obviously jealous of their success. So I can't really blame them for sticking around.

    I want...

You don't usually have to have a partner. I never did. Just meant I got to dance with my cute instructor.

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

I seldom make a comment in this thread, but I get the biggest kick out of y'all's banter.

    I want...

Do it Beth! Dancing makes me happier than anything else. I took ballroom lessons all last year, and loved it, but when I'd catch my reflection in the mirror it didn't match the way I saw myself in my head. I am looking forward to taking it back up again in a MUCH smaller body.

    What Do you DO!?!?!

Just watch out for the fizz.
  8. I found the Virtual Model website through your album, Aprilapple. It is really nifty!

    steri-strip glue

I didn't touch any residue on or very close to my incisions, and did not bother the "synthetic scab" (as my surgeon called it) at all. That surgical glue came off on its own, but the residue those steri-strips left after being on there for 3 weeks wasn't budging. And it took only the very lightest touch of the eraser to take care of it. And there's always "Goo-Gone" - KIDDING! KIDDING!!!

    steri-strip glue

A soft, clean pencil eraser, used gently, works wonders!
  11. Nina, if regular burping is a problem I think almost all of us are sunk!
  12. The bad breath is probably a result of ketosis. Your body is using stored fat for energy, rather than carbs, which results in the bad breath. It will go away once you start adding some carbs back to your diet. The gas could be left over from your surgery and it will get better too, although a lot of people do say they burp a lot more since being banded.

    lapband=deceit and bullsh**t

They posts ARE kind of stream-of-conciousness, but the more of them you read, the more they start to make sense.

Help please! My hair is falling out!!

Are you getting enough protein? From what I've read, that seems to be a key factor in hair loss.

    Friday weigh in 26 september.

Last week: 273.5 This week: 270.2 Loss: 3.3 pounds!!!! I think my good losses these past two weeks have been because I've actually gotten MORE calories. I've been hovering below 1000 since surgery, but the past couple of weeks, I've eaten out several times - always being careful. Whatever the reason is, I'll accept it! Great job everyone!

Looking for Bandsters in NW Houston

All right! Well, there are 4 of us so far, so I'm going to make it official and say we will meet at Vida Loca at 2 PM on this Saturday, September 27. Anyone else is welcome to join us! Vida Loca is located one block east of Mason Rd. on Kingsland Blvd. It is behind the Kroger shopping center. Now we need some way to recognize each other!

Looking for Bandsters in NW Houston

Who is up for getting together this Saturday at 2 PM? Unfortunately, I was not able to get a meeting room at the library, so we'll still have to figure out a location. A Starbucks will work if there are 5 or 6 of us, but I think we'd need somewhere bigger if there are more. My sister and I ate the other day at Vida Loca on Kingsland Road, a block east of Mason (used to be Las Rosas). They have a really nice, big patio. I guess I'll wait and see how many people respond that they plan to attend, then we can decide from there. And if you have any suggestions of places to meet, please toss them out there! I don't know about you all, but I could use some girl-chat time.

  19. RUN, don't walk, back to your doctor. Make an appointment for a fill, and between now and then do what you know you are supposed to do. The fill may or may not get you to your "sweet spot", but even if it does, it is still up to you to make up your mind to resist the temptations of carbs and sweets. Accept that your doctor may comment on your lack of progress, and be determined that the NEXT time you go in he will have to comment on your GREAT progress! Ask him for suggestions, get involved with a support group, find something to do when those snack urges hit that will get you through them. And remember this saying, that has become one of my favorites: Don't give up what you want the MOST, for what you want at the moment.
  20. It depends on what it is. If I am supposed to have 3 ounces of chicken, turkey, fish, etc., I weigh it. For my chicken and tuna salads, vegetables, cereals, and fluids (of course) I use a measuring cup. It is kind of confusing when things are listed in ounces, because that could be a measure of volume OR weight. Cups and divisions of cups, teaspoons and tablespoons are straightforward, but ounces......
  21. I was banded on August 4 and got my first fill on September 8, 5 weeks post-op. My next one is scheduled for October 20.
  22. My doctor recommended Milk of Magnesia for constipation brought on by the liquid hydrocodone. I only took one dose, and it did the trick. A couple of days later, when I was starting to feel it again, I drank some apple juice, and it helped. Once i got off the hydrocodone, I had no more problems.

    Can we chew Gum?

lol...I tried those Listerine strips...even got the Cinnamon flavored ones. I decided I liked my ketosis breath better.

    No weight loss

Drury, are you exercising? I had not been until this week, when I had to do a lot of yard work to clean up from Hurricane Ike...and I had dropped 4 pounds since last week! I too lost a great deal of weight in the first two weeks after surgery, then it has just been crawling ever since. Exercise really does play a big part, especially if changing your diet alone is not working.

    time between two meals

I've decided that my pouch holds a little less than a cup, because when I do eat a full cup....ow. I get a feeling kind of like having a stitch in my side, but right about where the band is.
