  1. Hi, I am 1 1/2 years after surgery and I have lost about 80 pounds. I have had about 4 fills and my last fill was about 9 months ago - where I had a very good spot. Restriction but not too much... About a month ago maybe a little longer, I have been having major problems keeping simple foods down. Almost EVERYTHING I eat, comes up very quickly. The things that I use to be able to eat, now are giving me H-ll. I finally called the doctor's office but they do not open unitl after Christmas.... Would anyone know or have had this type of problem???? I have been ovulating over the past few months now but have taken PG test and it is negative.. However I am about a week late.. Would this have anything to do with my band??? Has anyone had trouble without going to the Dr.??:w00t::cursing:

Complications with band after 1 1/2 years??

To add to the message above.. I just read a post and the poster talks about self-tighting!!! What causes it to self tighten? Why ? Can it really do that?? Just trying to find reasons or understand this that is happenig to me !!!!
  3. I am very new to this site as well as my surgery. I was banded on the 6th of June, so I am only out 3 days now, but the thought of food is making me really uneasy. These last 3 days was probally the hardest to overcome (because I have never had to go through any medical procedure before, so this was enough). My doctor has me on liquids for the first 2 weeks, then we are allowed to eat soft foods like deli ham, lean ground meat, roast cooked in a crock pot (pretty much anything that can be broken with a fork) I am so looking forward for those days!!! But I have read that some people just can't tolerate some foods? What do you know you can and what you can't?? I am from Louisiana and we eat boiled seafood often, is that allowed? Has anyone been able to tolerate that? What about resturant eating? How do you know you will be able to tolerate foods that you have eaten before you band? I don't want to be in the resturant and not be able to tolerate the food I ordered? Like burrito (misspelled) torts? chips and salsa? pizza? chicken and angel hair Pasta? I know that this is a ton of information but I decided on the band to limit my food, not stop me from eating it..... Any advice......
  4. When you mean before restriction, you are talking about your first fill? I wonder before me first fill, what can I actually eat?
  5. I was just banded on the 6th of June and know my doctor is stating that all of my pills taken before hand must be crushed. Well I am on birth contol pills for period assistance. Does anyone know the effect of crushing birth control pills??? Do they remain effective?? The reason why I am asking is 2 fold - 1) Since my surgery, I have begin spotting very light, but am not scheduled to begin my period for a few weeks. Does that have to do with the crushing or just because of the surgery??? and 2) I went throught ferility issues and was told I had policystic ovaries - I know with the drastic weight loss, there is a possibility that I could get pregant!! I would love that thought, but I would like that to happen after a year or maybe 2. One hurdle at a time, and right now - my goal is to get to my goal weight.... Any answers would be greatly appreciated, Jessica:eek:
  6. I was banded on June 6th and am having trouble with gas!!!! I can hear my stomach growling over the TV, (that is how loud it gets). Any suggestions? Jess:confused::tongue2:
  7. I was told that it was not an extended release pill like many of you stated. However, why would I be starting my cycle again? That does not make any sense.... I am not scheduled to start until the end of the month.. Since this is my first surgery, think that it could be the trama that my body went through??? Jess

    Gas from Surgery??? Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the help and advice!!! Today was day Day 3 and boy what a difference a day makes. Things were a little easier today and I hope that it just gets better as the days progress. I am going to post another thread (if many of you don't mind giving your wonderful advice - I just didnt' want to combine a thread in a thread, if you know what I mean)... I think I live by this group, now!!!! Jess:thumbup:
  10. I was banded on Friday, June 6th. I did stay overnight and thank god I did. The pain was tough to move around. If I would not have the gas, I think I would be alright. Thankfully, I did not throw up, but my doctor told me the first sign of throwing up, I needed to go to the ER room. I was told that I could go back to my liquid diet, but no one mentioned anything about only clear liquids.... Good luck to all
  11. Hi, I am having my surgery on the 6th of June and if you have been reading the latest threads, I am very much struggling with this right now. For starters, there is a ton of things going on in my life (not bad things, but overeaters turn to food for good things or bad things) As we begin our relationship,I will explain more - I am just not about having all my information out there-- if you know what I mean... I am from Louisiana, having my surgery in New Orleans. I am 32 years old, married and have an adopted daughter that is 4. I am not sure what else to put here, but if you have time to lend an ear, or email-- or some great advice or just the notion that it will be OK - I think right now I could use you on my side... Jess
  12. Hi everyone, I am going to be banded on June 6th in New Orleans and I find myself in a bit of panic mood!!!! I don't know what to do or how to fix this.. My doctor is William Richardson at Oschner... Any advice would be appreciated... If there is anything that you would like to know, feel free to ask!!!
  13. HI there, I know that your posting is old, but I am new to this site. I am in the process of using him. My surgery is scheduled for June 6th. Did you use him and have your band yet? If so, I would love to hear about it.... Jess

    In a mood of Panic....

Sorry to confuse you!! Let me try to explain, it might be me over reacting.... When I went to one of the appointments, I was told that I would have to do 2 weeks liquids before my surgery date. The results from that would be for me to shrink my liver and lose a certain % of my body weight, which was set at 15 pounds. Well I was not sure if I would be able to do it cold turkey, so I began a liquid diet incorporated with my regular meals about 4 weeks ago. I would do a liquid protein shake for breakfast, then a bottle of protien water for lunch. Then for supper, I would eat a smaller portioned meal for supper. In that 4 week process, I was able to lose about 30 pounds. I have not seen the doctor since 4 weeks ago when they gave me the orders. I see them on June 3, 3 days before my surgery. My worry is that I can not remove the supper (actual meal) from my diet, and was wondering if since I have lost or actually exceeded the amount of weight they wanted me to lose, if it was OK not to do the complete 2 week liquid. For instance, I can stay like I am doing now and just eat a moderate supper, or would that hurt my surgery (like it could be postponed)))) I am trying to listen to orders, but sometimes people that have been through the procedure, can tell you the true out and ins.. So my question was, since I lost the weight, would it be OK to remain on my schedule that I am on now until I see the doctor on the 3rd???? I hope this helps explain my situation and that you are able to give me the best advice as you can????:confused:

    In a mood of Panic....

I started my liquids about 4 weeks ago (just to get myself prepared for them when the MUST have would take place) I lost 30 pounds in about 3 weeks. I was doing liquid for breakfast and liquid for lunch and then eating a reasonable meal for supper.. Now that the liquids are a MUST, I can not do without that supper meal.... My team wanted me to lose 15 pounds before surgery, I am just worried that I can not do this entire liquid thing. I have lost the weight plus that was asked of me, think that will be enough to get the surgery done?????
