Did your surgeon prescribe anything for you for nausea? I did not have much nausea after surgery so I wish I had some advice to provide. I suffered from gas pain a few days more than others it seems was my issue. My dr. Sent me home with scripts for nausea and gerd. Sorry to hear you’re having such a time of it.

Weight Gain Post Surgery
CammyC replied to msteinman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@msteinman weight gain is completely normal. I posted about same thing 3 days after surgery as I had gained weight too. The IV fluids and being bloated and full of gas makes you gain weight. It will take a few days for all that to get out of your system. Several people are going to tell you to stay off the scale. I kept looking every day and finally lost my first couple of pounds around day 5 or 6. I’m 11 days post op and down 10 lbs now: it’s okay. Just breathe, keep sipping you water and protein. Walk and walk some more. It all works out. You’re right on track! -
@Deloris All surgeons are different in the style of the liver shrinking diet as you will see in reading our feedback. Mine required 14 days all liquids—clear and protein shakes. I actually started two months prior to surgery cutting my meals to one a day and I would drink Ensure Max Protein for breakfast and lunch and only eat dinner. I was trying to train my stomach to eat less. I would eat a a banana or cottage cheese in between when I got hungry. Has your surgery been scheduled? If so, your surgeon and NUT will provide you with exact instructions. Even though I was only eating one meal a day more or less weeks before I still struggled with the 14 day liquid diet. I really only made it about 9 days and days 9-5 I would cave and would have 2-3 bites of things like broccoli or chicken. The last 5 days I really hunkered down and it was so hard but my surgeon told me I did a great job of shrinking my liver so there’s that. I wish you best of luck in your journey!

Corona delaying weight loss surgery dates? Anyone?
CammyC replied to MaybeMeow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thinking of you all with your upcoming Surgeries! My initial surgery date was postponed two months due to insurance requirements. I know the feeling...but it will happen and hopefully when scheduled! Good luck to you all. -
I’ve been having 1/2 cup of coffee since day 2 after surgery. I could drink a whole cup or two prior to surgery, but I don’t crave it like I did before surgery so I drink my cup until my body craves water which is about half way done. It has not hurt me, in fact it seems to soothe my tummy first thing in the morning and get things going as far as BM. My dr and nut did not take caffeine off the table as it were.

Where's everyone from :)
CammyC replied to foodie669's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
40 in GA. My sleeve surgery was March 3rr. Still figuring all this out one day at a time. -
My motivation came as I was recovering from domestic violence in my last relationship. I had to move away from the area and move in with my family after he took everything from me. I’ve spent the last year in therapy and healing. I moved on March 16th 2019. I gained about 70 to 80 pounds in the last year and half of our relationship. I was eating and drinking alcohol for comfort. Part of regaining control of my life and independence has been this process. I’m grateful to be a year out from the madness of past life and grateful for this new journey becoming the woman I know I am, I can be and will be.

Day 3 post op and can drink liquids so well it scares me
CammyC replied to CammyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@biginjapan That sucks you experienced it, but I’m glad you are taking it easy. I was the same way for a couple of days after I experienced it. I tried a few crackers last night and I feel very lethargic this morning. So no more crackers. It’s trial and error at this point, huh? Hope you feel better today. -
I just followed both of you! I’m @camilleycc Mine is not vsg exclusive. It’s just me ❤️

March 2020 Surgery Folks Come On in!
CammyC replied to Mello1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Stinkerbells2ndact I had my surgery on March 3rd and I too felt like I didn’t know anything. I kinda still do, more or less feeling my way through this. I have started full liquids and I just started purée/soft foods the past couple of days. I’m going by what my dr told me and how my body feels. I’ve been hungry as well. Not like before surgery but I’ve been hungry. I live with my family and they cook amazing dinners every night so I get it. I have found premier protein and fair life milk keeps me pretty full. I’m drinking Gatorade zero too and had some 1/2 juice and 1/2 water today and that was pretty good! If you don’t have access to protein powder then Ensure Max Protein is my back-up. You should be drinking 64 ounces or sipping. Water, Gatorade zero and whatever else your dr approves. As far as calories, I don’t think we worry about that part for a few more weeks. As long as we stick to what our new stomachs can handle, we’ll definitely be consuming far less calories than before surgery. I wish you best of luck! -
Shoulder pain 3 days post op
CammyC replied to Storm90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome! So glad to hear you’re feeling better. We’re good, lol no leaks! ❤️ -
@Deloris Hi there, I’m 10 days post op now. I started my journey in 10/7/19. My surgeon’s office tried to push my surgery through faster than my insurance wanted so I had a set back with having my surgery postponed for two months. I was devastated at first, but took that time to look within and start to try to like myself as I was and not depending on this surgery to be a fix-all. Now, I’m grateful for that delay and the two month I spent being and gentle and loving with myself. I guess I’m trying to say is if you do have any setbacks—not that you will, but if you do— I believe, it’s for a reason. I also lost 26 pounds from Oct-March and really started eating less during that last two months. I still had a rough time with the all liquid diet for 14 days and only made it 9 days full liquids but everything went great. Wishing you the best of luck!

Shoulder pain 3 days post op
CammyC replied to Storm90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Storm90 I experienced the exact same thing!! It was terrible! I’m 10 days post-op today and it has gotten better each day but still experiencing left shoulder pain when I’m still or laying down. Day 5 or 6 post op it was so bad that night I dreamed I was having surgery on my shoulder. I spoke with my surgeon and he agreed with others on this forum, it’s gas. I googled left shoulder pain and of course the worst pooped up—gastric sleeve leak. Oh heck naw! But I had no other symptoms of a leak and only those of gas. It gets better day by day and slowly it’s going from the top of my shoulder to the front of my shoulder, IDK. It’s so strange where gas wants to hang out. -

Hello surgery buddies! I like that we can share our experiences with each other. I’m thinking of you all and hoping you all get better in your recoveries! I got in quite a bit of walking yesterday and that makes me happy! I’m doing well on liquids and I actually had a tiny bit of butternut squash soup last night and it was amazing! I was not discreet about my surgery. All my close work peeps and friends and family know. At first, I got some negative feedback like “well I’ve heard so and so had a bad experience...” blah blah blah but I was like look this is my body and I’m excited for this change! After that, they settled down and started supporting me. I finally got my Bariatric fusion multivitamin with 45mg of Iron yesterday from Amazon and I have felt good the past two days from taking it. I’m down 10 pounds today and 36 pounds altogether with pre-op weight loss. I started about two months before surgery eating less. I was only having one meal a day and ensure max protein twice daily. I’d have a banana or cottage cheese when I felt hungry in between. I still had a rough go on the pre-op liquid diet tho, but thank Goodness that part is over! I hope you all have a great weekend! March 2020 Surgery Folks Come On in!
CammyC replied to Mello1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@NewEnglanderGal I had sleeve surgery on March 3rd. I’ve had ups and downs, of course. My new stomach doesn’t like lactose. I’m having a bit of weakness in the morning and afternoon. I haven’t had hardly any pain except for this very acute pain in my left shoulder at night when I’m laying down. I go back to work next Tuesday. For tips, get prepared for the gas pain—just as I suggested for Wellness Warrior- I wish I had know about Charco Caps prior to surgery. They are activated charcoal capsules and that is the only thing other than walking that provided me any relief. I didn’t get them until the end of the second day, but I was outpatient so if you’re in the hospital they may be able to do more as I was on my own. For me, getting in all the liquids improved day after day so I wish you all best of luck in staying hydrated. @WellnessWarrior I had the most horrific gas pains after surgery. My surgery was outpatient and I spent the rest of that day screaming and crying from the gas pain. I walked as much as possible, but had hardly any relief! I’ve had other major surgeries and I’ve never experienced anything like it. I had pains like you’re describing and then my friend who had the surgery suggested activated charcoal capsules for the gas pain and bloating. They were a life saver! They are called Charco Caps and my mom got them at Walmart. @jlow347 the pre-op diet was the hardest part for me other than the gas pains after surgery. You’re gonna do great and it’s so exciting how we’re changing our lives!! @GAjeepGirl praying for your recovery! -
Day 3 post op and can drink liquids so well it scares me
CammyC replied to CammyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@mooki and @biginjapan - hi y’all! I’m happy to hear y’all are recovering well. I’m day 9 post op and I’m feeling a bit weak. I was approved for full liquids but having a lot of nausea. I tried skim milk and experienced the dreaded dumping syndrome. It was terrible. Fast heart rate, nausea, my whole body was hot except my feet and hands were freezing and I wanted to throw up but I couldn’t. Ugh. It lasted 30-45 mins so I guess I’m lactose intolerant now. I got some fair life milk yesterday which is lactose free and I was able to tolerate that, thankfully. I’m waiting on my Bariatric fusion multi-vitamin with iron to arrive today and I’m hoping that will help with the weakness. I was only constipated for the first few days after surgery. Once I was done with the pain meds around day 4-5 I’ve had no issues with bowel movements, in fact, I’m pooped from pooping lol. The color is still much darker than before surgery but I think it’s cause my main nutrition is still chocolate protein shakes. I go back to work this coming Tuesday and kinda anxious about it due to the morning weakness and afternoon tiredness I’ve experienced every day. I start the purée/soft foods phase next week and hopefully adding healthier food options will help with that. I’m doing okay with the moving around. I get tired easily but I’m going to work hard to get in a lot of steps today and the remaining days before going back to work. It’s good to hear from y’all! -
I have a desk job as well and my dr has me out for two weeks. I think it’s the perfect amount of time for me. I’m day 8 post op and go back to work next Tuesday.

CammyC replied to Mello1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My follow up went well. I get to start full liquids this week. I’m anxious though. Anything other than broth, water and protein shakes is making me nauseous. I’ve tried milk—nope, lactose intolerant now but not prior. I’ve tried juice zero sugar added diluted with water and nausea then. I went and got some fair life milk today fat free and will try that later today. I even got some calcium with d3 and that too made me nauseous. I was so looking forward to yogurt next week, now not so much. -

@Slimmy-mommeee I had terrible contractions and spasms at the top of my new stomach the first few days after surgery. I would sip, drink and I would feel it hit the top of my sleeve—it would bubble and then it ached and pulsed; it contracted I guess that is what it was for a few seconds. It was crazy! I only get that feeling now like 3’times a day instead of after every sip! Thank Goodness 😅 so happy to hear you’re recovery is getting better! I’m also at my follow up appt right now! -
Anyone Have March Surgery Date?😊
CammyC replied to Lily66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Slimmy-mommeee Girl, you are preaching to the choir here! I was a total foodie! I dream of food lol. I start going back to my therapist next week and I’m excited to discuss these things with her. I may be generalizing but I think a lot of folks with a weight problem also have an emotional connection to food. You are def not alone, I feel you. I keep looking on the mirror now though. I know it’s only been 8days but I already “feel” smaller if that makes sense. Not just physically. It’s weird. Putting out those positive vibes and looking forward to the summer FINALLY this year! -
I’m Day 8 post-op today for the past few nights I’ve had terrible left shoulder pains. It seems to go away during the day but comes back with a vengeance at night time. It was so bad last night I felt it whilst dreaming and dreamed I was having shoulder surgery. Weird. I’ve been researching and it seems it could be a gas pain left over or signs of a leak. I have no other gas pains left than this one crampy shoulder and don’t feel terrible like a leak, but how how would I really know if it was a leak? Thankfully I have a follow up today with my surgeon. It hurts so bad!

Left shoulder pain at night
CammyC replied to CammyC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That’s a good idea. It does seem to be worse when I’m laying down. -
Congratulations on your weight loss so far! You’ve achieved amazing results. I’m a newbie here and don’t have a lot of advice to give yet, but I wanted to commend you on your transformation thus far! The before and after pics are so exciting!
