  1. I wish I had info for you. I have Anthem BCBS and had to go thru all kinds of tests with cardiologist, pulmonologist, nutritionists, psychiatrist and 6 months of dr supervised weight loss.

    1 week post op

@Margaret 5161 I’m day 14 and I’m still only down 10 pounds. I posted about this on day 12 and all responses talked about the dreaded 3rd week stall. I was perplexed bc I wasn’t even two full weeks and already stalling!! Some people said they experienced their first stall at two weeks so it sounds like we’re right on track as it were. I’m gonna keep on keeping on with my diet and walking and hopefully I’ll see some movement on the scale within the week. I wish you best of luck!
  4. I lost 28 pounds pre-op most of that like 24 pounds was before the 14 day liquid diet which I only made it about 9 days with full liquids. I feared that liquid diet like the devil. So I started eating less about 3 months prior to surgery. I started having protein shakes for breakfast and lunch (ensure max protein) and I would only eat dinner. Now when I got hungry at times during the day I would have a banana or cottage cheese. Once you put your mind to it, you can do it! Good luck on your journey!

    Gastric Sleeve Post Op

@JA Lenny I’m two weeks post op today and down 10 lbs. not sure what that is in metric. I think 6 lbs in 7 days is great! And yes, I am hungry too. Especially during the liquid phase. I’m eating mushy food now like eggs and beans, but still kinda hungry. I was googling pouch too big?? Lol. I think a lot of think oh this is too easy to drink liquids or I’m still hungry so it didn’t work. I know I did. I def know now it did bc I def cannot eat like before surgery and it’s nice. I wish you a great recovery. as far as your “friends” go that are not supporting you....well it’s not a scam! Some say this is the easy way out....WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!! This is major surgery and what we endure leading up to it as far as all the tests and the liquid diet is so hard not to mention the recovery and adjusting to having our insides rearranged and getting new tummies. I call my new tummy “Gurgly Gail”. You know what let them talk all they want and you have nothing to prove to them! You did this for you as I got my sleeve for me! I’m ready and want to be healthy again. I hope your “friends” get explosive diarrhea. They sound mean. Sorry. Not sorry. But I do hope you have a great recovery!

    Noises

I call mine Gurgly Gail. She has a mind of her own, but still doesn’t know which way is up or down or If she’s hungry or not. My new tummy is also two weeks old today as well!!
  7. hello all, I had an eventful day. I went back to work today—my first day back after two weeks out. Well all was fine until around lunch when I fainted at my desk. The manager wanted to call an ambulance and I was like oh heck naw!! I’m not going to a hospital while this virus is out there! So I called my surgeon’s office and they told em to come in. I had to get my Mom to meet me halfway because I got dizzy while driving...so scary!! They gave me fluids and vitamins intravenous and sent me home for another week. Two weeks was def not long enough for my recovery. I know we’re all different, but so happy to have a surgeon who cares! @Girlnextdoor00 I had the sleeve on March 3rd and yes I felt the internal pulling of my incisions! Oh it lasted Into the second week! My only advice is just because aware of your movements and take things slow. I hope it gets better soon. @mello1 thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery! Sending you positive vibes!❤️ @KokoA That really sucks that your surgery was postponed especially after doing pre-op stuff!! I too had a postponement although mine was for insurance reasons but it was still put off for almost two more months. I finally had it March 3rd when my original surgery date was January 14th. I hope it rescheduled soon for you. @asnirak I’m not sure how many days out you are but just hold on!!! Everyday your new insides will get a little bit better. I wish I had more words but I’m two weeks post-op today so I know the first few days suck! What about sugar free jello and /or sugar free popsicles?? I lived on sf popsicles for the first 4-5 days post surgery.
  8. @GreenTealael oh yeah, I totally forgot I had a patch for nausea. Maybe that’s why I didn’t have it bad. @GAjeepGirl glad to hear your feeling better today! ❤️
  9. I’m 12 days post-op sleeve surgery today and feel terrible. I have not been out and about to get covid-19. I’ve been meeting my water and protein levels daily. I’ve incorporated some soft foods into my diet. I’ve tried Refried beans, eggs, creamy butternut squash soup with protein powder and prunes—all of these chewed very well. I’ve been walking a lot. I got my 10k steps in on Friday. Yesterday I started feeling tired around 4-5 pm and laid down so I only got around 7500 steps in. This morning I’m lightheaded and sipping my water again. I’ve been taking my vitamins like clockwork. I’m also down bc I haven’t lost any weight in two days and I’ve been more active and hydrated in the past two weeks than I’ve been in years and I’m not kidding. I know I’m going to be told to stay off the scale, but I just want the number to go down so bad! I’m so F*%#ing tired of being fat!!! I’m weepy. When I stretched out a few mins ago I almost passed out. I’m so tired and have been sleeping very well. I’m on day 11 of my cycle so that’s not it either. Why do I feel so bad when I’ve been doing all I can to feel better!?!?
  10. @mooki Hi Mooki! I woke up feeling much better today. I rested all day yesterday. I watched Frozen 2 more than once yesterday lol...such a good movie! I think I needed a down day. I too should stop weighing myself every day but it’s just so tempting!! I was finally down another pound this morning, but I agree it’s a total mind F if I don’t lose. I was also “snacking” throughout the days as I found it difficult at first to eat a meal at once. I was scarfing down food too. So yesterday I consciously made myself aware as I was eating. I made some purée tuna salad and made myself sit down and eat it like a meal. I put my fork down in between my bites and breathed in between bites. You’re so right, unconscious and subconscious habits are tricky to navigate. Even as I was making myself aware yesterday, I still had a couple Of robotic bites- you know not even seeing the food just shoveling it in. I wish you good luck in your journey ❤️
  11. Hello, I’m 3 days post op. I was sleeved 3/3. I am able to drink Water, broth and Protein Drinks with no problems at all. I don’t get full. I don’t get uncomfortable. I’m def trying to still sip but find myself drinking water like I did before surgery—not gulping but def not sipping. And I have not lost any weight, I’ve actually gained a couple of pounds since surgery. I’m kinda devastated by this. Does this mean the pouch was made too big or it failed? I’m so scared. I don’t know what to do. Does any of this sound normal? I’ve been watching all the week one post op videos and people are talking about how it was so miserable but they are down like 16 pounds. Now, day one and half a day two was pretty bad and it hurt to drink water but now it’s super easy and I’m up walking and feeling pretty dang good, but so worried due to how my tummy is not hurting and I’ve gained weight!
  12. Hi y’all, I asked this question way far down in my other thread so I wanted to highlight it. I told my friend who had had sleeve surgery and had successfully lost about how much I’ve been pushing myself to walk. I’m day 12 today and feel really weak today and been pushing for 10k steps a day. I walked 4 miles on Friday and 3.3 miles yesterday and 2.8 miles on Thursday. I didn’t hit 10k steps on Thursday (6500) or Saturday (7200) but I did on Friday. Prior to surgery I averaged about 3000 steps a day. She sent me Dr. Vhong videos (Dr. V as she call him) telling me to watch and he is saying I should be walking for sure, but not pushing myself this much. What are your thoughts? I appreciate your feedback and support sooo much!!
  13. My surgeon wants me to exercise. I told him I’d be walking and stretching. He said that’s good and we’ll talk about doing mor at my next appt.
  14. I’m in GA and I have to go back to work on Tuesday—I was hoping they would have shut down shop while I was out recovering from the sleeve surgery 😂 I’m in the purée phase now so I went out and stocked up on creamy soups, protein powder, Refried beans and things like that. I’ve been walking around the house and driveway for exercise, but think I overdid it the past couple of days so have not done much of anything today. I’m lucky that my family and I are all onboard with staying home, the kids are home for at least two weeks and keeping my mom healthy is most important as she has diabetes. We are doing pick up from stores and not going into them. And social distancing for sure! I saw in the news that the youngsters—lol—I’m 40 - so those younger generations are not taking heed and still filling up the bars and clubs this wekend. Lord, I hope this virus makes it out of the USA soon.
  15. @GAjeepGirl it sucks to hear you’re having such a time of it. I had the sleeve, but I know the anguish of recovering from surgery. 3 days is so soon after. I hope you feel better soon. As far as the heartburn, can you take the liquid antacids to coat your tummy? Could your surgeon prescribe something for you? Hugs.
  16. @Stinkerbells2ndact my incisions hurt a little after walking a lot but nothing really bad. I was worried about sweating on them, but so far, so good. I have one that I guess was the “exit wound” as it’s bigger than the others and has a stitch poking out of it....it hurts some. I want to pull the stitch out, but that’s probably not a great idea. 😂
  17. I think I definitely did too much over the past few days considering my sedentary state for so long prior to surgery. I’m resting today and will try for more walking tomorrow.
  18. Ugh. I think of that too and I’m not in a hospital like you. Here’s hoping we stay healthy ❤️
  19. @summerset I don’t relate to being energetic either. I feel like I’m pushing so hard right now. I go back to work on Tuesday and I have a desk job but still worried about being weak.
  20. @Ostflicka I’m on day 11 of my cycle. I had my period 3/4-3/10–of course I started the day after my surgery I was just referring to the day of the cycle as in not pms. I started eating less prior to surgery because I feared the 14day liquid diet, which I only made it about 9 days all liquids. I cut my meals to once a day and had protein shakes for breaks lunch about 3 months before surgery. I lost 26 pounds prior to surgery and 10 since surgery. My friend just sent me some videos but Dr. V and she said the same things, I just have to give it time. @AJ Tylo Yes, sensay of vitamins 🙂 I’ve been taking Bariatric fusion multivitamin with the iron. I’m also taking In addition Sublingual B12, vitamin C, vit d3 2000 iu and omega-3. I bought citracal for the calcium citrate and that made me so sick! So I’ve ordered some calcium citrate chews from celebrate and awaiting for those to arrive. I have been drinking Gatorade zero in addition to the water. my friend who sent me the videos and has also had the sleeve and lost successfully told me I’m walking too much at this point. I walked 4 miles on Friday and 3.3 yesterday—is it too much? Is 10k steps to much to shoot for right now?? I appreciate your feedback.

    Surgery in 2 weeks. Nervous.

The decision you’re making to change your life is amazing! Moving forward through the fear is courageous. It’s good you’re not taking this lightly as it is major surgery. I believe your youth as PuddinJasper mentioned above is one of the great things you have going for you. i wish you best of luck. As far as loose skin, that’s a concern for many of us. It’s something to think of for sure, but becoming heathy is more important for me right now. Good luck!
  22. I’ve read about the 3 week stall and I thought I had several more losing days prior to stalling, if I even would. It’s so frustrating!! I’m not even two full weeks out and to stall now is devastating.

    Soft Food Suggestions

I’ve been eating no sugar added fruit popsicles like crazy and it hasn’t affected me negatively. I would say enjoy!

As soon as I can go to the grocery store again, I’m gonna try that ricotta bake tho.

    Soft Food Suggestions

Y’all are preaching to the choir! I’m so hungry and not satisfied with eating soft foods! Ugh! It’s so frustrating. Everything I try so far is tolerable. I had hard-boiled eggs today and that is the most full I’ve felt since the first few days after surgery. And I’m having issues with how fast I eat. I eat fast and always have and I’m trying to be more conscious of it. I noticed it today as I was scarring down my eggs. It was only uncomfortable for a moment and I was ready for another egg. Smh.
