Horrible rash at incisions
CammyC replied to jaymmee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was gonna say the same thing. You may be allergic to the glue. Have you contacted your surgeon’s office? -
I’m 3 weeks post op and I’ve lost 13 pounds. I thought it would be more. We’re about the same weight so I think those that weighed more lose more weight at first. You’ve lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks so averaging 4 pounds a week, that’s awesome! How long have you been stalled? i know we’re told not to weight ourselves every day but of course, I’m stubborn so I do. I don’t lose weight every day. I lose a pound or two every 3-4 days. It’s not what I wanted, but it’s working. Just stay your course. Keep an eye on your protein and water intake and make sure you’re getting those daily. can you switch up what you’re eating for soft foods? For me, a lot of things I try are making me sick so I’m sticking to eggs and beans right now along with my protein shakes.

Hey y’all, What did you use for your scars to decrease their appearance and help them heal more? I used scar away for a scar on my cheek in the past but it hasn’t been the best thing. I definitely don’t want noticeable scars when I’m finally able to wear a bikini in a few months! 👙😊

Thanks everyone for your feedback! This site is full of knowledge and peeps who want to share it! ❤️ Feeling grateful for y’all ❤️

Can only tolerate baby spoons of mushy foods and then I develop Hiccups
CammyC replied to GAjeepGirl's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Those were my instructions too. I found around day 9 I was able to tolerate a full protein shake. -
I had my surgeon call me in a prescription of promethanzine?? It’s generic for fenegran or phenegren I don’t know how to spell it. It does make you drowsy but helped me so much. im 3 weeks too and the only thing I’m eating right now is scrambled eggs and my protein shakes. Mostly anything else makes me super sick. I’m lactose intolerant now and hoping that will go away, but I can tolerate cottage cheese.

Thanks guys! I’ll check out Mederma. My scars are little too but I want to minimize them even more.

@Chas74 Yep! My tummy is always talking to me. Some of us have named our new tummies. Mine is Gurgly Gail. She’s just a gurgling constantly. @Krimsonbutterflies named Her’s Ariel lol as she said her tummy sings to her now. Both of our new stomachs were born on March 3rd. ❤️

Yes!!! I remember that feeling! I’m 3 weeks now so it only does it every now and then. But I would take a sip and I would feel hit the top of my stomach and it felt like it would bubble. Then it would ache for a couple of seconds as it went down into my tummy. It gets better every day!

CammyC replied to GAjeepGirl's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I tried the Ricotta bake and got sooo sick. I tried it during this past week. 🤢 I really wanted to love it, but such is life. -
I had my surgery on 3/3 and my first week out I was still on clear liquids. Second week I was released to full liquids with requirements to get 60-80 grams of proteins. My protein shakes consist of 8 ounces of fair life milk which is 13 grams of protein and 2 scoops of chocolate premier protein which is 30 grams of protein. So each shake is 43 grams protein. Sometimes I have two of those or I will substitute one of those shakes with a Ensure Max Protein shake which is 30 grams of protein. I’ve been meeting my protein levels each day. I still drink these even tho I’m in the soft foods phase and can only really eat eggs or cottage cheese at this point 3 weeks out.

@GAjeepGirl I’m 3 weeks post op and still on the mushy, soft foods phase. I may stay here a little longer than next week. I’m okay with eggs. I’m not okay with anything dairy based except cottage cheese. I agree with everyone else take it slow, maybe go back to full liquids for a few days and get your nutrition from protein shakes. I hope you feel better soon. -
@GoForwardGen Reading your post reminds me so much myself. Now I’m not as Young as you, I’m 40 and wish I would have done this sooner. I’ve been the fat girl since I was 8 years old. This is my experience and advice: I too have struggled with mental health issues including addiction and suicide attempts. I was put in rehab in 2017 for addiction to alcohol and opioids. I’ve not taken opioids for recreational use since April 23, 2017. Alcohol is a slippery slope so I have to be vigilant there. In September 2018 I was hospitalized under a mental health watch for a week after attempting to take my own life. I was in a very volatile domestic violence relationship at that time. Through the support of my family and friends and local law enforcement I was able to finally get out of that relationship for good in March 2019. I’ve been in therapy ever since then with my psychologist and psychiatrist and my life has changed for the best! I’ve been on some sort of anti-depressant and/or mood stabilizer since I was 21 years old. I’ve been i the mental health system for a while. None of these things held me back from getting surgery. This past October I had reached a point With my weight that I was defeated and ready for a change. I have Anthem BCBS—it’s the best option they offer and I pay out the wazoo for my insurance through my employer because I want the best. I also had to complete a 6 month weight loss supervision with MANY requirements. So that’s the story of my mental health past. This is my advice: Find a dedicated Bariatric center. I worked with Georgia Surgicare in my state. They were phenomenal!! I started my journey 10/7/19 and had my surgery 3/3/20. That’s 5 months! GA Surgicare advocated for me! They were actually able to push my surgery up one month because I had completed all requirements and was consistently losing weight. I actually found out because I was losing weight on my own is one of the reasons they allowed me to go early. It proved to them I was serious about this. My start weight was 256.6. Day of surgery I was 230. I’m 5’4” so yeah I was a big girl. I say was because I’m not that girl anymore. I’m 218 today and working every day to become healthier. I will no longer refer to myself like that, that was the old me. On 10/7/19 they weighed me and went over everything. I came back on 11/6/19 and had lost 4 pounds. They finally gave me the packet with all requirements I had to complete. They worked with my insurance and found all providers in my network that they also work with. I had to go to a cardiologist for a heart stress test and ultrasound of my heart. I had to get my PCP and psychiatrist to recommend the surgery—which they did. I had to meet with a nutritionist 3 times and show my food logs. I had to go to a Pulmonologist and have a sleep study, yes I have sleep apnea. The reason I suggest a dedicated Bariatric center is because they provided me everything I had to do. All I had to do was make my appointments and show up. GA Surgicare followed up with all the providers and got my insurance what they needed. I had to do every other week calls with a nurse with Anthem to discuss my progress and developed a rapport with that nurse who also advocated for me. Do your research find a dedicated center. Do your part. Lose weight to the best of your ability and show up for your appointments. It was a whirlwind. It went so fast and so slow at the same time. I wish you the best of luck in this journey that is going to change your life!

Still having pain in my right side
CammyC replied to Xx1jpt5xx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m 3 weeks post op or just a couple of days shy of it and I have an incision on the right side that is still tender to the touch and yes I have some pain behind it but it comes and goes especially when bending or twisting. I think it’s normal. It’s weird it’s that only one incision huh? I’m right handed so maybe my right side of my body is more dominant and working more? IDK just guessing at this point. Hope you feel better soon! -
@amboyle728 I’m right behind you. I’m 3 weeks post op and soooo tired still. I’ll have a couple of good days and then a down day or two. The past two days I had more energy and then all of a sudden today, it left me. I just napped for about 3 hours and want to go back to sleep or at least not get off the couch. I hope our energy comes back soon. You’ll probably get yours back before me since you’re a couple of weeks ahead.

7 MONTHS & 150LBS!!! amazing***
CammyC replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mikey, that’s amazing!!! So inspiring for me to hear just shy of 3 weeks post op. Congratulations on changing your body and your life! 150 is my goal weight. I’m down to 218 now so I have quite a bit to go but so excited for you! My starting weight was 256.6. There’s no TP to be found here in the states either so we’ve got that going for us as well. 😂 -
10 days post-op, self-isolation with no scale
CammyC replied to rjan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally understand @rjan! Seeing that number drop is a great self-esteem booster! But, I have a scale at home and I wish I could stay off it every day. I went so far as to having my mom hide it from me and was frantically searching for it the next morning. Ugh. I’m a hot mess. I hope you get to weigh soon! In the meantime, can you try on a shirt or pair of pants that was just a little tight prior to surgery or do you have a measuring tape to take measurements. Happy Losing! -
Casey, here’s the thing with family and friends....F them. But not in a bad, angry way. Everyone you allow to know you’re making this decision is going to give you their uneducated, ignorant opinion. Stick to your guns as it were. I did not keep my surgery a secret. I was so excited about it I told my family, friends and close Co-workers. I got an earful. I let them say their peace for a moment and stood my ground! Thank you for your concern but I’m doing the research and this is my body and my choice. We’ve all heard it those of us that told others. Good luck on your journey to health and happiness!

My heart goes out to you. I wish I knew what to say in times like this. You are not alone. So many people are having a terrible time of it. I hope this all does turn around eventually. After the recession in 2008 It took a couple of years but life slowly returned to normal. I’m sending positive vibes your way. I pray you find some comfort and strength in this very difficult time.

I did not experience gas pain pre op but had a terrible time with it post op. One of my friends that had sleeve surgery suggested activated charcoal capsules and I saw it on of the YouTube sleeve girl’s video blog. They are called Charco Caps and it saved me. Gas-X did nothing for me. I made sure it was okay with my surgeon to take them and he said it was fine. I would definitely ask your NUT and your surgeon about what you’re experiencing if they are available on the weekend. Also and just as important walking will help get it out. Hope you feel better soon.

CammyC replied to MaybeMeow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@BigSue Yes, my insurance postponed my surgery from Jan 14 to March 3rd so I understand that issue. Just stay on your course and you will have your surgery eventually. Hope it all works out well for you.
