Hi: If at all possible don't go back to smoking. It makes you feel like such a failure when you do. It makes surgery recovery a lot harder because your blood vessels constrict due to the nicotine. Hubby and I quit at the same time 35 years ago. I have to laugh. The experts say that you save X dollars a year by not smoking. I'm still waiting for my cheque. -

Anyone here who had surgery in their 60's?

Hi: I had my sleeve done in January of this year. I was 65 at the time. I had to pay for it out of my own pocket because I would have had to wait 5 years to get the government to pay for it. I had some inheritance money so I thought I would spend it on myself. I couldn't wait 5 years. My blood pressure was going up, I was a borderline diabetic and the writing was on the wall that I was heading for some major problems if I didn't do something about my weight. I had to go to Toronto for my surgery, have my husband stay with me for a week and then fly back home. All in all it went well. I did have a big bump in the road, About a month ago I became very depressed and went off the rails. It was with the help of this group that I realized I had experienced major stress for about 8 months and I needed to get some help. The help is always there if you need it. -

I don't know what I was thinking I have been under considerable stress and I didn't give myself credit for coming out the other side. I'm not surprised that my diet was going out the window. I'm back on track, writing down my food, shopping for what I want to eat and getting lots of sleep. I'm feeling much better

Hi: Aren't those meds fabulous. Seriously, I have taken them for years. I developed Bipolar Disorder following the birth of my daughter. It took the doctors 7years to get my meds right. They have caused all sorts of weight problems but I keep taking them because I know that it can be very difficult to get back on them once a period of time has passed since the last dose. You might try going back to the dr who prescribed them and see if they can be tweaked.

Hi: Had Sleeve done in Jan 2020 and I lost about 45 lbs. Now I am stuck. I seem to have run out of motivation and wonder why I had this surgery. I don't know how to get back on track. Any suggestions? Marcie

I'm having problems with binge eating too. My husband keeps trying to get me to eat when I'm not hungry. If you have a lot of people in the house and they bring their goodies into the house you might ask them to keep them in their rooms. You could write their names on the bags, so it reminds you that their goods don't belong to you. Most of all be kind to yourself, You have eaten some food, gain a few pounds. you haven't killed anyone Marcie, Sleeved in January 2020
