  1. Thank you. I'm trying to stay grounded. I have three surgery-twin buddies with the same date/Rny and we message one another each day and all three have lost significantly more than I have. But I am the lightest starting-weight of the group so... that certainly matters. I'm staying positive! ONWARD!
  2. Hooray! Ok, you can survive one more week on fresh chicken broth. And those starburst-like chews. Funny, my doc says not until week 3 for the chews. Isn't that crazy how different it is? Glad you have more peace of mind. ONWARD!!
  3. See above. Just posted an update. Those protein jello shots were key. Happy to help others as I've gained so much advise as well!
  4. Hi Gang. An update for those looking ahead. I'm trucking right along. Today is post op day 15. Groovy and 613 I do think sometimes we need to tailor things to our needs. This significant differences in food plans show that there isn't necessarily and black and white way of doing this. I heat up a pan of water. Just beginning to boil. Not rolling but bubbles at the bottom. Add one TBS vinegar. Stir it around. Then use a slotted spoon and start stirring until you've created a spinning vortex of water. Quickly remove spoon from spinning water and gently pour in an egg (pre-cracked in a shallow dish) in the center and watch it spin. Lower the temp to medium or 5-6 and set timer for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes spoon egg out with slotted spoon and drain. Put in a bowl. You have a runny but warm poached that that is a lot like liquid. Salt, eat small bites and enjoy. I have 2 a day. Plus I blend half a frozen banana to my morning protein drink. It adds 14 carbs which is a lot this early and a no-no on my plan. But it has made all the difference in how I feel. I get around 400-500 calories and 50 protein and 20-25 carbs a day. I don't feel great. But I feel pretty good. I walk every evening. I went to look at a couple houses this morning. I've grocery shopped for a few items. Yesterday was post op day 14 where I'm allowed to add 1-3 oz of soft wet meat 3 times a day. I was too afraid to try anything yesterday but today I mixed a little ground chicken with my cottage cheese. 1 oz chicken 2 oz cottage cheese. It tasted great. I ate it slowly. My last couple bites kind of got stuck in my upper stomach for a few minutes. I walked around the house and just sat still and watched TV for 30 minutes. Felt good afterwards. I'm not getting 64oz of water but maybe 48 oz. I haven't had a normal poop yet. Just diarrhea. My family ordered delivery tonight. I ordered a piece of white fish with lemon. It hasn't arrived yet. I'm going to try a few bites and see. Felt a little light headed today when looking at houses. That was new. I think it means I need to up the water. I hope all this is good news for you guys. I can't imagine 2 weeks of liquids only. But the tasty broths (Thai) with Genpro made my one week tolerable. I encourage you to try a soft poached egg. Crossing my fingers for you all. I've only lost 11 pounds in the 2 weeks. Feel ok about that. ONWARD!!
  5. I did one week liquids then could add egg, cottage cheese, and soft beans for week two. Maybe you should try a poached egg on day 7. I found it to be heaven. Poaching is easy and it's so soft it's like liquid. Might make you feel better.
  6. Lol. Thank you For the clarity. I was picturing this roller ball with anesthetic cream or something. It’s a catheter delivering pain med directly as needed! Got it ha!
  7. Im-a look up Q-ball. Also... I took a 2nd colase and then ate a few bites of avocado. I immediately had explosive and painful diarrhea so I do NOT recommend it. Have no idea if it was the 2nd colase or the avocado or both. But now I'm afraid of avocados. Cuz that was EXCRUCIATING
  8. Firstly... TWO MILES A DAY THE FIRST WEEK?? That would've killed me. This 2nd week too. Don't push too much. I took two 20 minute walks on Saturday (I go slow at a dog park so that didn't equate to two miles) and that evening the nerve/incision pain was AWFUL. Sounds like you're doing GREAT on H2O and protein!! Wow! Feel good about that. Bloated VS restriction is somthing I've been trying to put my finger on too. Here's what I'm feeling so far... Bloated is the swollen inside belly up to chest feeling I've had now and then my whole life. Restriction is different. It's almost like pain. It's hard to describe. But the first time I felt it was eating cottage cheese. I put 3 Tablespoons in a dish and about halfway thru I felt odd. Not painful exactly but... more pain than bloat. Like the last bite stayed high and I was either going to burp to relieve the pressure or spit it back up. It's never felt serious. I just stop and walk slowly around the house for a minute of two and it goes away. How interesting on the Q-ball. Is it external? I have A LOT of nerve pain. But it feels like it's inside. I know some people take Gabapenten for it. I'm trying to power thru. I need to poop. So colase in now on the menu. ONWARD BYPASSERS!!
  9. AW dang. Sorry for the set-back. Speaking as someone 13 day out... anemia would NOT be good at the start of this. The weakness is real and that's will normal numbers. Here's to raising that level. July is just around the corner! Keep us updated!
  10. Welcome! So sorry about your mom. And the teeth issues! Oh my do you have my sympathy there. Protein powder in a tasty broth is my advice on the pre-op diet. And how smart of you to do pics and measurements! Those are going to come in handy. I took some pics too and I look at them often to motivate.
  11. Groovy... it gets so much better at the one week point. Just keep powering thru. The fact that you're getting sleep will help that too. And honestly, it improves each day from then on. Have you tried protein water? Every program is different but I was to force protein starting day 3. I drank protein water and mixed Genpro into chicken broth. It saved me. Soon you'll be able to add a few soft foods? That makes a HUGE difference as well. You start to feel a little normal. I'm so happy to hear you can sleep on your side. I keep "testing" that without success yet. You're gonna get there. Survive this first week. That's your goal. I'm doin'... fine. Having a lot of nerve pain rather than incision pain. It's a wash of pain across my mom-flap that can take my breath away. My hubs says its damaged nerves working to repair themselves. Oof. I've had a little diarrhea every morning... until yesterday (yay!) and today I feel a little plugged (uh oh). Gonna wait and see. I went against program and added half a banana to my morning protein shake. Honestly it has made such a difference in the way I feel. I had no idea a medium banana had 28 carbs in it so adding 14 to my 5 carb drink is definately a risk. But I feel better. And I am a big believer in tailoring things to my needs. I also have an egg a day and 2oz of cottage cheese. That's pretty much what I'm living on. The 25 gram protein morning shake. And then 12 more protein with the egg and cottage cheese. Sometimes I try and sneak a mini shake in at the end of the day. Twice I've managed. Getting 450-600 (the shake is 250) calories a day and at least 40 oz of water though I can tell I need to up that. I've been walking the dog 20 minutes a day and yesterday I did it twice. Still suffering from a lot of gas pain and sharp unexplained pains. Towards the evening I always seem to struggle with water and that tight feeling you speak of in the chest. I can't imagine working right now much less being active meeting friends or working out. I completely understand the depression. When having this surgery I was saying goodbye to a dear friend who made me happy. Food has been the center of so much joy for me. And during this Covid time my work/passion is halted. So it's an emotional roller coaster for sure. I'm not even weighing myself. That's how disjointed this all feels. HOWEVER! There IS so much to be grateful for. This IS the perfect time to hide away and transform. There is a lot of work to be done in my head (not just the bod) and I have the luxury of time to do it. Maybe you do too? SO... one day at a time. Try not to go crazy. Try not to lose faith in the world. Connect with my kid and husband. Shower. Those are my mantras. ONWARD!
  12. I'm so glad you're home and furious for you that your nurse was not supportive. I can't imagine being in the hospital alone without being catered to every moment. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Now... make surviving week one your next goal. Because you're going to feel so much better by day 7 and not so good until then. What is a q-ball?

    Hair loss

Can I ask why you had to reverse a Bypass? I've not heard of that. I'd also love to know what you took that helped your hair regrow. Wishing you the best of luck with your next surgery!
  14. @Groovymommy @It's time. @Lily66 and All! How are you feeling today? I'm doing well. Still pretty weak. Each morning now I have the squirts which is kind of a depleting way to start the day. Can't tell if it's the artificial sweetener or maybe the whey protein doing it. So I'm cutting out the AS today and reducing the whey trying to make up for the grams of pro in plain fat free greek yogurt. Getting 48 fluids and 40 pro isn't easy. That's been my goal for weeks 2-4 and I'm not sure I've achieved both in the same day. My incisions are still hurting. Sometimes they ache horribly. Other times it's a dull muscle thing. But, drinking water is easier each day. My vitamins seem to be going down well (a real worry). The family left for a canoe trip and won't be back until late Sunday so all I'm responsible for is myself and the animals. Hoping to get my pro and liquids up and increase my energy. Sleep is a stranger. I get about 2 sessions of 3 hours a night. But better than nothing. Each new food tastes like heaven. Sent my 88 year old dad (who lives 15 minutes away) a Father's Day box of overnighted Lobster rolls and Whoopie pies from Maine. All the fixings. He called and practically begged me to come share them with him. It was so hard to tell him no. I told him I was on a physician directed diet that was very strict. My father is old and set in his ways and does not admire heavy women. So of course he was very supportive of my new "diet". ((eye roll)) But it was hard to say no. I do love a fresh lobster roll. Check in when you have a moment! ONWARD!!
  15. (( @613cnn you're being thought about!)) WELCOME TO THE LOSER'S BENCH!!
  16. @613cnn !! Tomorrow's the day!!! I'm so excited for you. Here's to a quick and easy procedure and recovery. Check in with us when you feel up to it and know we're sending you THE GOOD STUFF!!
  17. I'm with you! Both will improve slowly. I had both that pain and the swollen face. My hubs said it was from all the fluids they pumped with with trying to flush out the anesthesia to cure the nausea. I looked just like I did after giving birth. It's a little better now. The weird feeling in my abdomen is still there just less. I think it's either swelling or gas. I've always been gassy but now it's in a different place so it's not as easily identifiable. Congrats on the toilet rise! Enjoy that codeine. You and your hernia deserve it. Just think how much better you're going to feel once you've fully healed knowing something like that was causing trouble and won't be anymore! ONWARD!
  18. Let's make it true. All I can currently think about are those chocolate almond coconut balls sold in bulk at Costco. My brain keeps thinking "Not yet but soon." and I keep saying "mmmm.no. Not so soon." One day at a time is my motto. Happy Graduation to 3 months! I want to speed up time, for sure. Made a smoothie with greek yogurt and half a banana (which is NOT on my ok list but seems to be on other people's) and some unsweetened chocolate Almond milk. It was good and seems to be settling ok even with my Bariatric One a Day multi taken with it. I'm calling this a win!
  19. Crossing my fingers for you! Eating that egg made me feel real again. You will love it. I have not had that "no desire to eat" feeling many have. I guess I should say I still crave foods. Not necessarily feel hungry. ONWARD BYPASSERS!
  20. YOU DID IT! I have read that those with a hernia have extra pain. You are a ROCKSTAR for handling that pain. So glad to hear you are home and safe. Hurdle leapt! On to the next. How's your gas? I've been getting bubbles with every swallow today and it's so uncomfortable. Anywho... yoU keep drinking and walking. PS: I HAVE EATEN COTTAGE CHEESE! and it was delish.

    June 2020 surgeries

One week post Bypass and I'm allowed to add eggs, hummus, cottage cheese, mashed beans and yogurt to my liquids. I ate an egg this morning. It was DELICIOUS. No problem. And I've been queasy in the past. Hope they go well for you!
  22. (( @Groovymommy )) Hope you're hanging in there!
  23. May I have your attention please... I POOPED! Thank you. Carry on.
