  1. I’ve recently discovered that when I eat/drink my protein, food from bariatric store or in cases where I just add water or pre-made protein drinks Ect, that I get hungrier faster than when I just cook up my own small meal, or even just have a small piece of chicken or protein Ive made or pick up from restaurant. I will be not hungry eating regular food at home that include the lean meats ect for like 4-6 hours. If I eat just a protein drink, snack, bar, bariatric meal however, seems like I’m ready to eat again no later than 3 hrs or even sooner..... anyone else ever notice a difference and know why? I’m so busy I often don’t have the extra time or energy to pre-make food or cook dinner so I just use pre-made bariatric protein food usually.

    Surgery pain

The pain can vary from person to person, I typically have a very hard time the first 3 days pretty severe then being much better by end of the week in any surgery. This one was 2 days in hospital for pain control for me. By the end of the week I was much better. I stayed sore for 3-4 weeks but that was not abnormal they said. Because your stomach is your core and it cuts thru muscles it may be more difficult for some people like me. But some have no problem hardly at all. The will prescribe a liquid pain med, usually Vicodin or Percocet although Im not sure why that is important to know the name of it at this point. I am in pain management and they made me just chew up my pills because supposedly they said it’s hard to get liquid Percocet filled supposedly. Well this turned out to be untrue but I found out after I filled my pill script and it was not pleasant since Tylenol is disgusting so I took it with a pill swallowing help liquid & lots of zofran. It didn’t matter since they had to give me stronger meds for a week anyways so I ended up being able to take small pills without Tylenol whole then. If you do not have pain management issues like me & herniated discs & surgeries under your belt, then you shld be good to be off any meds except like Tylenol within a week after surgery. I believe my surgeon gave enough for a week of dosing every 4-6 hrs to regular patients not under Pain contract.
  4. After reading everything I thought I wanted the gastric bypass as well because it seemed like it would work better and I dealt with horrible reflux, gastritis issues. While I can’t remember now what the Dr said in response as to why he thought the sleeve was the better option for me, I believe it involved higher risk, bigger chance of More reflux issues, dumping and possible greater vitamin absorption issues and I know there was something he told me about it that made me decide to keep the sleeve. So I highly encourage you to discuss with your surgeon your reasons why you want bypass and let him explain why he feels the sleeve is the better choice for your specific medical needs. The sleeve has been great for me, I’m down to 23 BMI.
