Fleur-de-Lis or Panniculectomy?
Julie1292 replied to Huckdoodle's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
You could ask about a panneculectomy and add on abdominplasty. That would address upper abdomen skin with out the vertical scar…. -
Panniculectomy worth it?
Julie1292 replied to Writergirl's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
It is typically performed by a plastic surgeon but for insurance reasons it’s considered a medical treatment. Lots of loss skin can cause back pain and rashes. Same way a breast reduction is often considered medical for the same reasons. I am going to have a panniculectomy for medical reasons (rash and back pain) paid by insurance. My surgery will be done by a plastic surgeon. -

Can you talk to your dietician to see if she/he has any ideas for you? Maybe they have worked with many others with the same issues, concerns...? Hang in there.

Roux-en-y vs sleeve HELP!!!
Julie1292 replied to JomaraElizabeth's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I would go with bypass. I had a sleeve in 2013. I did lose 80 pounds but that still had me at 220. Then I developed some discomfort swallowing and I ended up with bile reflux and a large hiatal hernia ... my surgeon said the chances of bile reflux are higher with sleeve because the stomach is under more pressure with a sleeve. a Bypass can be reversed if necessary. A sleeve cannot. Once that stomach is removed, it’s gone. But note that a sleeve can be converted to a bypass later. ..... ultimately if you have 100 or more to lose, bypass would be the way to go. -
3 weeks post op, 10 pounds down. Is that good?
Julie1292 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 3 weeks post RYN conversion from sleeve for bile reflux and a large hiatal hernia repair. I am down 10 pounds, and I happy about that but honestly I have lost that (or more) on Weight Watchers eating 1,800 calories. I am averaging 600-650 calories. Getting 64 grams of protein. Basically sugar free, getting my water and walks.... am I over reacting, or does 10 pounds seem kind slow....? -

August 4th for this girl. Conversion from sleeve to RYN, with large type III hernia repair. Everything went great. I feel great but have lots of limitations until hernia repair heals. Doing 3-4 walks a day. Best part... I am getting out of vacuuming and scooping cat boxes for a few more weeks! Dr’s orders.

I agree with catwoman, I think the smaller stomach and changes to hunger hormones and insulin processing are all immediate changes after surgery for most people. I am only a few weeks post op and eating about 600-650 calories right now in puréed diet and I am not hungry. I did feel hungry sometimes on the liquids only diet, for the first few weeks.

Recent RNY - How ya doing?
Julie1292 replied to Corrine2020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had RYN on 8/4. 2 weeks today. Down 7 pounds. Eating about 500-600 calories and not hungry. Getting 55-70 grams of protein. I had thought maybe I would be losing a little quicker but I think the first week I lost all the water and inflammation from surgery.... and this 2nd week I haven’t lost anything. I am walking 3 times a day. I had a large hiatal hernia repaired at the same time so I have limitations on physical activity for a few more weeks. I feel good. No pain. -
I had one done Monday for a Tuesday surgery .

Anyone for August 2020
Julie1292 replied to MotivatedMomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery Tuesday. Originally it was schedule for March. -
I love salmon and avocados and I am looking forward to trying them when I’m ready. I was just wondering how people do with them after RYN. I am glad to hear that some people are fine with them....I hope I am too.

Has anyone tried vitamin patches? Do they work?
