    Hungry?

Is your Protein intake different on the days when you're more or less hungry? Or the solidness of the food you're eating? Or your activity level? That's all I can think of to consider...

    Fever, nausea...

Sorry to hear you're feeling so bad - and agree with comment above, I hope you are in the ER now. Fever is not good.
  3. Does your surgeon know about your past hepatomegaly? If not, I would share that with him/her just to be sure that you're taking the right precautions in prep for surgery. If so - then you should be good if you are following the pre-op diet. I wish you well!
  4. There's the chicken broth unjury as well, which most (including me) find pretty yummy. It also might be worth asking your surgeon/nut if you can eat real food pre-op. I asked and was given permission to do that. So I ate a lot of grilled chicken and veggies. I'm on day 4 post-op now and getting most of my protein from various pureed soups mixed with the unflavored unjury or the chicken broth (or a combo of both).

I Cant Believe its Finally Here!

Wishing you well! I was where you are just days ago and now I'm healing. Take care!
  6. I don't have any personal or professional knowledge about this, but I can tell you that I was a band to sleeve conversion... I had a dilated esophagus and reflux that started with the band and continued even after being unfilled. I was concerned that the sleeve wouldn't work for me because of these issues, but my surgeon assured me that it would be fine. I'm only a few days out, so can't really report on the issue yet, but my understanding generally is that the sleeve does not put the same stress on the esophagus that the band does. Your surgeon is the one who will know what's best for you. I wish you the best!

    That's cheating!

If anyone has the gaul to say that to me I think I'll respond by letting them know I'm not involved in any weight loss competition with rules against WLS. I'm just making the best decisions for my own health, so cheating just doesn't factor in.
  8. Hi all - I didn't go into surgery until about 5pm Monday. Surgery time was about 2 1/2 hours because I was a band to sleeve revision - there was scar tissue to be cleaned up and a hiatus hernia. First 24 hours were a little tough, just sore and out of it, but today I feel human again! I'm home, drinking fluids pretty well, able to walk around. All is good! Hope everyone else has a good recovery as well!

New sleeve ! Day 4 ! Feel like crap !

I don't think you're gonna die. You just need to baby your new sleeve right now and follow your doc's instructions. I'm sure you'll feel better soon, and then be careful from here on out. If pain is really bad seek medical help.
  11. Hi all, My surgery is tomorrow - Yikes! Yay! My husband is disabled and won't be with me. My parents will come the day of, and stay until I'm out of surgery, but then a friend will be the one to pick me up when I'm released a day or two later. So I won't have one person to hold onto my things and I'm getting confused about what I need... - I've been told I need to pay my portion of the bill when I check in, so I need a credit card and ID I assume, but then I'm told not to have that with me (aargh); I'll also need money to get home - my friend is picking me up, but I'm in NYC - we'll be taking a taxi and I want to pay for it I'll be at NYU Langone.. anyone with a similar situation? Any advice? Did you not just bring your purse and a small bag with your things? iPad? I appreciate any advice - I thought I'd thought everything through, and now getting flustered trying to figure this out.
  12. Wishing you the best on Weds!
  13. Thank you all!! Appreciate the tips, suggestions and support! I've been balancing nervous and excited for a while and today became all about nervous! But I'm calming down and feeling more ready. Thanks - and wishing all the others getting sleeved this week the best as well!
  14. @@gowalking - thanks! That's a relief that they can hold my cards and stuff. I thought so, but I can't call and ask questions today. For sleeve Dr. Ren said it's 1-2 nights stay, usually two. Since my time isn't until 4pm I am assuming probably 2 nights. They have to do a leak test before releasing people. You're right about using CC for taxi - I'm just not used to going anywhere without a little cash!
  15. Thanks ForGracieGirl! A backpack with a lock is such a great idea, but not sure I'll have time to find one today - but I will look! I think I'll just have to play it by ear and hope for the best - I'm sure it will work out.

    my primary care follow up

Congrats on your weight loss, but vomiting almost every meal sounds terrible! I haven't heard about that with the sleeve. Definitely follow up with your surgeon. That isn't good for you.

Window of time to lose weight?

I think the window idea comes from research - patterns of how people usually lose after surgery. I will try to find an article I read online and post it here. My surgeon sent me an webcast to watch and it had this info included - that people lose weight fastest in the first 3 months, still lose at a good pace through 6 months, then weight loss slows and eventually stops at 12-18 months. That video also mentions that at 1 year most can eat about a lean cuisine sized meal, which is more than the 1/2 cup or so right after surgery. I'm taking the window seriously - people in the support groups I'm in (who are struggling to lose last few pounds or have regained some) have urged me to do so and I appreciate the advice.

    June 17th is the day

15 pounds in 5 days?! That's amazing! I'm going in a day before you - yes, so nervous as well - but also so excited! Tomorrow is my last day in the office - I will have a 3-day weekend to clean house and do all final preparations. Can't wait to be through the surgery and healing. See you on the other side! We will do great.

    How to stop weight loss

There's no way that weight gain is fat! Probably just water. Keep monitoring and I'm sure you'll find the right balance. I hope to have a similar problem in 6 months!

    Headed to the hospital!

Wishing you a perfect surgery experience! Look forward to hearing your report when you're out and awake!
  23. How are all you June 16th-ers doing? I'm going back and forth between excited and scared. Can't wait for it to be over so I can start healing and adjusting to the changes.

    GLUM!

Hang in there! I'm pre op, but I see posts like these a lot and experienced peeps always chime in to say that it's normal and that the scale will move again. I'm on pre-op and went about 5 days with no change and had that same worry of will I never lose another pound even after surgery? But then I dropped a few more pounds in the following few days. Stay focused on the long term and you will get there!

    HELP PLEASE!

I'm about to get converted from band to sleeve because of nighttime choking issues with the band when it's tight. I've read a lot of posts about it and some people like you feel less restriction with the sleeve than they did with the band. I think you can make it work but you may need to readjust to a new way of understanding what full feels like. Most like the sleeve much better, but some miss the super tight restriction. The good thing is that once you're all healed my understanding is that you can eat pretty much anything with the sleeve, in small amounts of course. So veggies and healthy choices are easier to make.
