Are the meats you show raw? -
GOOD FOR YOU!! I found that before my surgery and being on the "Shrink Your Liver" diet I lost weight faster than I am now post-surgery. Go figure!!
-
That's dreadful! I'm so sorry to hear that. I was so excited when I got my surgery date and I went into it without any fear. I know how you must feel. But please stay on your diet. I was put on a diet the day I got my surgery date and I didn't cheat at all. I found my weight loss before surgery was FASTER than my weight loss after surgery! Go figure! Good luck my friend.... you WILL have this surgery. Meantime, D-I-E-T You have to diet after surgery anyway!! Best, Grace

My sense of smell and taste has changed dramatically. Before my surgery I couldn't stand the smell or taste of eggs in any form. Now I can't keep enough eggs in the house. I love them scrambled. Grace

Disappointed part 2
IAmGrace replied to ge0rgette2's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm very sorry that happened to you Georgette. I know how excited I was as my surgery date approached (February 26). I got in just under the wire. My thoughts are with you but please don't stop dieting. I found that I lost weight at a faster pace when I started to diet before my surgery. These are difficult times, and you really need to think about the ramifications. What if you had some problem/s after surgery. It's hard to get to appointments these days.....best to wait until things settle down a bit. I know.... EASY FOR ME TO SAY!!! but I DO understand so sorry!! Hugs, Grace -
Ever Feel Like your stomach was a big ball?
IAmGrace posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I had too much for supper last evening. I had 5 ounces of greek yogurt and about 1/2 hour later I had a protein shake. About 1/2 hour after that my stomach felt too full. It felt hard and distended. That happened to be once before about a week ago and it went away fairly quickly. However I woke up this morning still feeling like my stomach was too full (again hard and distended). I have a call into the doctor but haven't heard back yet. Has anyone ever felt this way? -
YOU LOOK GREAT - CONGRATULATIONS!!!

What an AMAZING change in you. You deserve great big congratulations, as I am learning the surgery is only the beginning. It's up to you after that and you have taken the ball and ran with it. You look (and I suppose you feel) absolutely wonderful. I'm happy for you! -
upper body aches two weeks after gastric sleeve
IAmGrace replied to comerunning's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. I had the body aches too. Also in the center of my chest. I had a heart attack many years ago so I was alarmed at first but they did an EKG and my heart was fine. The pain traveled from the center of my chest all around and into my back. They gave me Tylenol and I was told to take it when I got home. After a few days it was gone, gone, gone. I found the first few days really difficult. I never expected all the pain I had to endure and the nausea. Grace -
How long till you farted after surgery?
IAmGrace replied to WhitneyLC84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was in the hospital the first and second day they gave me symethocone - spelled wrong (same as GAS-X).. IT WORKS -
I'm so sorry you have to wait longer, BUT....on the UP side, you have more time to lose weight before surgery on the "shrink the liver" diet. I'm told that doing this makes the surgeon's job easier....and that of course is a good thing. Grace

Did you have more than one surgery? Grace
-
I'm just a little confused as to why you had to have revision surgery. It seems your original surgery was done correctly. ??

Thank you ever so much for your informative and comprehensive response to my inquiry. I appreciate this more than you know. Just FYI I am not taking in more than 700-800 calories daily. It seems to me that even without surgery I should be losing weight on that caloric intake. I will be MUCH MORE VIGILENT concerning the amount of food I consume at meals. I will give you an example of what I have to eat daily: BREAKFAST: High protein shake = 160 calories LUNCH: Amy's Tomato Bisque soup = 240 calories DINNER: One source of protein (Yogurt/veggie burger/cottage cheese) usually about 240 calories My snacks are diet jello for ten calories per serving - 2 servings at the most Sugarless lollipops for 17 calories each for about 34 calories in a day I'm down about 9 pounds from my date of surgery but have been stalled for about 5 days now. I don't think I can try harder than I am right now. Maybe I'm wrong but doesn't it come down to calorie intake? Thank you again. I DO APPRECIATE THIS! My best, Grace

I had a gastric sleeve three weeks ago. I have to confess I have been in serious caffeine withdrawal so I went for the coffee a week ago and I am tolerating it fine. I also drink watered down diet coke which I make flat (adding water will flatten it). No problems.

Thank you again Lisa. I feel a bit mystified inasmuch as if I stay on 700 - 800 calories a day I would surely lose weight anyway. This does make me wonder about the wisdom of this surgery. I haven't figured that out yet. I should change my name to "Bewildered in Boston." Take care. my best, Grace

Hi Lisa: Thanks for responding to my post. You're about a week ahead of me. If I'm counting only post-op weight, I'm down only ten pounds which is an average of about 3 pounds a week. One worry that I have is that I don't get "full". I'm always thinking of what I can eat next, just like before my operation. I hope that if I tried to eat too much my stomach would stop me, but not so far. I'm ingesting about 700 - 800 calories daily. Overall, I feel really good, Very, very good as a matter of fact but like you, I'm feeling like I'm coming down with a cold now. I surely hope it's just a cold and not that miserable virus. I live in Boston very near to MassGeneral. I worked there for 23 years - retired now.... With the exception of your cold I sure hope all is going well for you and continues to do so. My best, Grace

I'm prepared to get responses that tell me I'm out of my mind, but I am having a gastric sleeve procedure one week from now and I turned 81 years old in January 2020. My rationale is that while I might not have many years left on this planet, I want to look as good as I can and feel as good as I can. Summer is coming and I mind the heat dreadfully. I'm looking forward to being more comfortable come the hot weather. Yes, I have air conditioning but I do go out the door sometimes. I'd love to hear from people in my age bracket who had undergone this surgery. I am in the Boston, Massachusetts area, and I am told by the weight center where I am being treated that they have several people in my age group scheduled for upcoming surgery.

Thanks so much for your message. Yes, my daughter had it done a year ago and she said that she went through the same thing.....really slow loss at first. I know what you mean about sinking your teeth into some real food. I see ads on TV for burgers and such and it's so appealing. I honestly think I could eat something like that but I'm sure not going to try yet Off to the yogurt!!

Thanks to everyone who has offered good wishes. I'm 6 days out now and weigh more than I did going in!!! What a dirty trick LMBO......I'm sure it will drop....SOON I hope! Best love, Grace

I did! Last Wednesday was my surgery date. Thought I would die the first and second days, but I turned the corner on the third and am doing well....THANK YOU for the kind message! Grace

Your weight loss is very impressive! Did you do a lot of restraining or did it come easily?
