Good to hear from you..and thanks for the support. I had my lap band yesterday:) self pay ...BUT appealing.Dont get discouraged. I have been soooo frustrated on this journey.. I believe it is because this is so important to our health that it is always in the forefront of our minds. paperwork can never paint the full picture. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers throughout your journey..Keep the faith!!!

CIGNA payed nothing after over a year of hoop jumping.. I may be 12000 in debt self pay but it will be worth it ..personally would not reccomend CIGNA to anyone

Hi, I am newto this site....needed someone who knew how I felt. After months of jumping through hoops, following procedures and paying out of pocket Cigna decided no. Iam depressed and frustrated and feel like I was led astray. It seems that if I were to wait for more complications from my Diabetes or Asthma they will cover these charges without question. Yet proactive.......NO. I guess I will appeal, but really felt like this was my last real hope. Thoughts Anyone? Prayers?:thumbup:

Keep the faith..I feel your pain as I too have bawled for weeks regarding lack of info, denials and now a big private pay loan. I even bawled sooooooo much that a insurance rep asked if I saw a therapist... Thanks....All I know is ..This will work out somehow..keep moving toward your goal :}

I too have been denied and denied by cigna..there is always a little something absent or not right. I dont think they approve anybody.. I am going to self pay, appeal, and get a lawyer. I feel frustrated and lied to..but not enough to lose sight of my goal. I have diabetes sleep apnea and depression..which is now worse..cigna is no friend of mine.

I have been denied by CIGNA again!!!!! It seems they can never "HAVE ALL THE INFO NEEDED" even though it has been sent multi times by multi people. They will not give me a name of the person handling my case. I have had 3 medical necessity letters,fasted for 7months x2 in the last 5 years and have all of my monthly documentsx 8 months. They wont count the dietitian because she did not take vital signs. They say the only process is peer to peer review. I am frustrated but not giving up...but it is wearing on me physically and mentally. My blood sugar is up..Dont know what to do ..I am glad people do get approved it gives me a littlehope!

Well....I have never had a blog..nor have I read many..but I need an outlet for my frustrations, trials..and :biggrin:yes blessings. I am currently in an appeals mode or "resideration mode" for lap band. I have all but stood on my head, submitted every embarasing factoid regarding my mental and phsical health only to continue sending more andmore andmore iformation:crying: meanwhilemy weight stays the same and my blood sugar is up AND I feel somehow defective and alone. Out of all of the procedures and illnesses in the world ..obesity is the one that points blame and requires complete exposure of ones self and psyche before treatment is considered:confused: yet untreated diabetes hypertension cardiovascular disease,amputations..NO problem..No hoops..No minimum/maximum visit AND NO PRIOR AUTHORIZATION:mad::confused:THOUGHTS????????

congrats..I am glad to see somebody gets approval from cigna...I am submitting and reubmitting and denied etc etc and have BMI 42 with comorbidities..I guess all is not the same..congrats again you give me Hope!!!

I sent in all info required based on info I received from cigna in January..BUT their requirements for documentation changed as of May 18 2008 requiring MUCH more data comorbitiy length ect...now I have to jump through more hoops before I can appeal.

Thanks for the appeals advice..Im going for it!! Back to the d for more documentation! I am in Illinois
