    Two weeks!

I got a call from the bariatric nurse today. “We can schedule your surgery for October 2nd.” That’s two weeks away! And granted, that’s pending insurance approval, but holy cow! I’ve been in the program since March and everything has taken so long due to COVID. I just had my EGD last week, I guess I was just expecting a lot more waiting before getting a surgery date. I’m excited, but at the same time, I kind of wanted to have one last food (and drink) hurrah with friends before surgery. But not going to complain... the wait is almost over!

    Covid Test!

I had my first test this morning. It went quick and wasn’t super painful but I never want to do it again. If given a choice, I’d rather have a Pap smear than a covid test.
  3. Thanks for answering! I’m just getting impatient, I think. I was hoping to have had surgery by now but COVID put a halt on so many things and I’m worried about elective surgeries being stopped again. As far as the tests, they should get it back pretty quick. My bariatric surgeon is the one who is doing the EGD, so the results will go directly to him. The surgical center is part of the hospital network where I am having all of my tests done, so the transfer of information has been pretty smooth and efficient thus far.
  4. I’m scheduled for an EGD on Friday, and I think that is the last clearance I need. How soon after your EGD was surgery scheduled?
  5. Thanks for answering! I‘m really looking forward to... having something to look forward to.
  6. I have my first visit with the Weigh Loss Center scheduled for next month. They've verified that my insurance (Health Alliance) covers the procedure and also informed me that I will need 4 visits with a dietitian/nutritionist and at least one with a LSW (mental health). From what I can tell, my insurance company doesn't have the medically supervised weight loss requirement. So, without that, is there any way to know what my timeline for having surgery scheduled should be? Should I still expect to wait 6 months, or do you think it could be sooner?
