  1. I think the premise is, that if you cook let's say potatoes or rice and then refrigerate it for an extended period of time(24 hours), then heat it up and eat it, the starch becomes more resistant to digestion. They are saying, that this is very good for your biome(guts?) and should not spike your insulin as much as fresh cooked and consumed. I don't know if I buy into it yet, but thought it was very interesting. I personally don't want to open that can of worms again.....like ever! 😏 But I think it would be cool , if it were true, for the rare cheat.

Thank you very much, Lily!! So, my weight on the day I met my surgeon( 12/20/2019 ) was 276.6 lbs. He asked what my lowest weight as an adult was and that was his goal for me. It happened to be 190 lbs. His reasoning was that this is the weight my body was most comfortable at. (Day of before picture, I was down to 264.6 lbs.) I happen to subscribe to Dr. Weiner's set point views. I think that surgery can/did change my set point and also healthy eating and intermittent fasting is helping reestablish a new healthier set point, that my body can be comfortable at and hopefully maintain. My nutritionist gave me a goal of 165 lbs, but honestly, I feel I can still do better. I'd like to be between 140-150, but we'll see. I am currently at 192.2 lbs which puts me at a 84.4 lbs lost. I just tried to change my stats, but I seem to have forgotten how!🤔 I think your surgeon's goal is awesome! Weight is just a number, that they are discovering is less significant to health as they thought! This is especially true for people who have been obese for some time in their lives. (None of the times I was 190 lbs in my life, was I ever able to wear size 8 jeans or medium anything, just sayin!) Our goal, I believe, should be where we feel happiest with our shape/look/size. Don't worry so much about a certain number, you're doing great already and well on your way to being healthiest and happiest! Enjoy the ride, girl!!!!😘😘😘
  3. I was wondering if any of you, guys heard of resistant starch? What are your thoughts? I thought it was interesting. https://hopkinsdiabetesinfo.org/what-is-resistant-starch/

Found this for comparison! Not my heaviest, but 3 weeks before surgery. Yikes!
  5. Love this salad! What does Cotija cheese taste like? I've seen it a few times on this thread and finally found it in a local grocery store, but did not have the courage to buy it. It looks really good. I like feta but hate cottage cheese(texture), is it close to any of them?
  6. Ooh! That smoked trout looks good!!😋 I don't think that's something I've ever seen here in the US, but I loooove smoked herrings and whitefish!

I know, Lily66, right?! Thank you for your kind words!!! I am 2.5 pounds shy of my surgeon's goal, but my own goal.... still quite some time. I'm not worried though. For the first time ever, I'm trying to educate myself and change my whole eating lifestyle, so hopefully, I get it this time!!! I'm tagging you, now YOU have to play, too❣💃💃💃

I'm only halfway through this thread, it has become my favorite thread! I looooove each and every outfit and the metamorphoses of the people in them! You guys rock❣ Now, I want to play, too, in a medium top and a size 8 jeans. I don't know that I've ever been this small in my whole life! It's mindboggling every time I look in a mirror!
  10. If I may ask, how do you make the oven crisped tilapia? Everything looks so good!
  11. Your food always looks so delicious!😋 Good job on the workout!
  12. Those are some amazing looking dishes🤤! Unfortunately, I don't think I will have any left by next week, at the rate I'm eating this. It's been my main source of protein since I made it.☺
  13. Go for it, girl, you are worth it!! Good for you for catching yourself before you start gaining weight and deciding to do something about it. You can do it!❤
  14. Thank you! It took 10 days to be ready, but absolutely worth it! The flavor blend is fenugreek, coriander, cumin, paprika and a ton of garlic, so it makes it so delicious. Wish I could send you some!☺
  15. Are they as chewy as the konjak root pasta? 8 found that to be too too chewy for me, unfortunately 😏 BTW, this is my favorite thread ever along with the before and after pics!! Great job each and everyone! I'm finally posting something here! This is middle eastern basterma(pastrami), that I actually made at home, because I can't find it where I live now. I've been making omelets with it or eating it as sandwiches in aldi's zero carb bread😋 It's made of eye of round, so very lean and I found it to be one of my favorite protein sources as I hate almost every kind of meat. I basically only eat seafood, ground beef and now this.

Thank you! I still have a hard time seeing it, but pictures definitely help. My shoes were on clearance at Kohl's 😉 There is definitely no double chin there!!! Great job!

Had my surgery, vbg revision to rny gastric bypass on 3/10/20.
  18. Maybe you need a stronger dose until things stabilize. I'm personally taking 40mg a day, still experience reflux, but not as much as before. Just talk to your doctor see what their thoughts are.
  19. That's simply amazing! Great job and thank you for sharing your journey. It is definitely a lot easier with resources like that. what is your blog address?

    March 10th surgery date

I'm sorry for those in pain, it sucks!! I had a revision from vbg to rny gastric bypass, gallbladder removed and hiatal hernia repaired! It was a little much, but I was able to start walking 4 hours afterwards. Gasx has been a Godsend! I'm taking it religiously to help with gas pain, I think it really is. We made it guys, still can't believe it myself, but we made it!!! Congratulations and prayers for speedy recovery to all!

I don't need them to call for that, I'm right there with you right now! So, 16 years ago I had my stomach stapled and did not think about it twice and due to complications (stricture and severe gerd) gained half the weight back. This time around the head games started last week. I know this ultimately IS the right step in moving forward healthfully and otherwise, so I know I HAVE to stop letting doubt in and just keep moving forward and tackle everything else as it comes. You are going to be just fine, Trish and God willing, after maybe regretting it for the first week or two, you will swear it's the best decision you ever made, just like 99% of this board members. Hugs and prayers to ALL!❤
