    Body Weight Scale

Amazon has several Renpho scales that appear quite similar. I’ve had mine for a few years, it has never acted up, sync’s immediately to my iPhone and at a great price point! You may see one of their newer ones with more bells & whistles.

Hubby has been asking me to do something in the slow cooker and THIS will make him one Happy man! Thanks for sharing your extraordinary culinary skill!😍

    Body Weight Scale

I love my RENPHO Bluetooth, too. 🏆👌
  6. My Dr. sent me home with liquid Gabapentin, liquid Tylenol and Zofran sublingual. He stressed it was imperative that I especially take the GABAPENTIN AS DIRECTED and UNTIL FINISHED. It really helps with nerve pain, and staying on schedule with it keeps your body AHEAD of any pain that may arise👌. Just as you are, I was concerned about whether it would adequately address the pain, and it totally did. It was all I needed, and didn’t even have narcotic pain meds in the hospital. I walked, walked, walked as soon as I could and had not even a hint of the gas pain I’ve heard so much about. I can honestly say the only pain I had was getting in and out of bed, so I chose to sleep in a cushy yet supportive recliner for nearly 2 weeks. Wearing a binder and keeping a small pillow close by to hold your tummy as you get up and down, is also helpful. Another good reason for not taking narcotic pain meds is constipation. Trust me, you want NO help bringing that on😬!!!!

    Depression meds and WLS

I agree with you that our minds are SO powerful and many times can accomplish what you describe. For some, however, a chemical imbalance may exist for any number of reasons and medication may indeed be called for. I honor any individual dealing with that, trying to seek balance. For some, going off these meds could bring about a very undesirable outcome. Kudo’s to YOU for exploring and securing what you need and that it’s working!!

    Depression meds and WLS

I was put on Cymbalta (duloxetine) following back surgery in early 2019, to help with nerve pain as well as anxiety/depression surrounding the ordeal. It apparently “worked” and got me through. Constipation and weight gain go hand in hand with it though😩, so I started weaning myself a few months ago. Just this week I decided to stop it, completely. As with anything, it’s totally individual as to the risk/reward of being on something like this. If you feel best on an SSRI, that reward seems like it would be greater than speed of weight loss. You will still lose, you may just need more patience with the scale. Only you and your Dr. can decide. In my case, Dr. said he was all for me going off. I just have to believe it messes with our metabolism, and I don’t trust the drug companies to admit it.🤦‍♀️ Good luck! And be sure to talk with your Dr. on this.💖

Premier Clear Raspberry got me through those first weeks, so easy on the tummy and gets our protein in, as did sleeping in the comfy, supportive recline. CONGRATULATIONS, REST, SMILE, YOU DID IT!!🏆💝

    Re: “Toxic others”...
  12. BEAUTIFUL, and looks so yummy!😋What a GREAT friend you are!!💝
  13. Thanks for your addition, Catwoman7! Indeed, before I began the Metamucil/psyllium, I took max dose of MOM and began with a “clear slate, er, um, colon”.
  14. I think this must be very common...same happened to me, nothing with the suppository. Surgeon had prepared me this may happen, and if so, try Fleet enema. If we overdo our electrolytes get off whack, though. I’ve been struggling with constipation too. Have tried about everything, Miralax daily, stool softener every other day, Milk of Mag, etc. Bariatric nurse practitioner suggested I try Metamucil, Sugar Free. The psyllium husk adds fiber, which my body was always used to and not getting in these early restricted limited eating days. She said first month post surgery no one should use Metamucil/psyllium because it can gum things up, but 4-6 weeks out it’s fine and likely what I need to get over the rock hard stool that won’t move.😓 Bought Metamucil Orange Sugar Free and past 2 days I’ve had very good luck! It’s also quite palatable. Ordered it on Amazon, but everywhere carries it. I do drink about 80oz of water, Propel, etc. Good luck!💖
  15. AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT!! YOU LOOK FABULOUS!!💐💐💐
  16. THE BEST ADVICE! 🌟 We MUST retain our individual as well as couple identity!💖

    How much would YOU pay???

Mine was covered by insurance, but I AM SERIOUS— I recently retired past few years and told hubby, if insurance rejects me, the first $20k I spend in retirement will be for WLS. I now have the time and burning desire to GET HEALTHY and what use is money if.. A. We’re too unhealthy to enjoy it, or B. We’re dead from obesity complications. I would pay whatever it takes, search for the best surgeon available to me. That is just me, and reflective of my determination and the sense of urgency I felt and still feel. ..But many, many others on this board have expressed the same. “Decide what you want, decide what you’re willing to give up to get it, then go about your business.” Good luck, make wise decisions, never look back, except to SMILE at how far YOU have come and what a GRAND JOURNEY this REALLY IS!!
  18. Thank You, ChubRub! I’ve heard so many of you talk about Chaffle’s and was unsure what they were but there’s always been a tone of delight with the word Chaffle.😋 Amazon ordered one in black last night. I’m SO grateful for this board, ideas, and each and every one of you!💝
  19. I’m in a stall and needed the hope that one day I could see 5lbs down🔥! I’ve been on biotin for about 6 weeks—has done zilch for my hair but nails are much stronger and growing! Get ready for 5lbs down Grace!💃😀!
  20. Yes it does, particularly for those still considering WLS. He goes in depth on each type of procedure to help determine which one may be best for a person. He also goes in depth re: head issues, and life issues. I would sum it up that this book is more about the science/mechanism of the surgery and the psychological state of the individual, where as Pound of Cure is about our eating and lifestyle choice after the procedure. One particular point he talks about in this book is the difference in how he counsels clients based upon age in an effort to maximize their success rate. For example, he talks about the increased challenges a younger candidate faces in having WLS say in their 20’s and thus having to potentially deal with pregnancy, career stresses, financial stresses ahead of them, while maintaining the weight loss for potentially 50+ years, vs. a 50 year old who has those major life stresses behind them and has maybe 20+ years to focus on managing their health and maintaining their weight loss. He’s not saying don’t have the surgery while younger, just realize the challenges ahead that can stress and derail you and try to plan WLS accordingly. He says it better than I, but you get my drift... lots of food for thought (pun intended)😉
  21. This book really addresses the issue you’re concerned with. Dr. Weiner helps you work through whether you have the burning desire to succeed at WLS, and if not, it’s best to wait a bit and try to get it right the first time. I respect your fears, it shows you’re aware of the pitfalls and are taking it seriously. For $13 something on Amazon, and an afternoon easy read at 150pgs, I believe you’ll gain valuable information and perspective from his bariatric surgeon with 2 decades of experience, determining which ones were ready, which ones were not. Be gentle with yourself...we’re walking the same journey with you!
  22. No Shame...we’ve ALL been there. We’re ALL on this journey together, and you’re better than you believe right now, YOU are with us on the road to a BETTER SPOT! Proud of you and hope you are proud of yourself!💝
  23. Nefertari, You sound like a FUN and WISE person! You WILL get through this! I would have joined you at KFC night before surgery if I could have.😂 But/and seriously...this website is a treasure trove of info to get and keep you “right”. Also, the book shown is only $13 something on Amazon and will also help you. Stay with us!!
