  1. AWESOME!! I wish you had had this pre WLS to watch how it changes! For instance, mine shows I’m 4 years OLDER than I am😥...but the good news, pre WLS I was 6 years older🤯, so it’s fun to watch the progress. It will be a great help as you follow your bone, muscle mass, etc. CONGRATS Superman! You have hit it out of the park of life!!!!
  2. If you click on the “values” it will show you where on the spectrum you are. Your Metabolic age refers to your fitness level (age) as opposed to chronological age. If you have questions, I would imagine Renpho website should offer add’l guidance?? As you weigh each day it will of course update and show your trends over time. One thing’s for sure, it shows you’re drinking your water!😁

🤦‍♀️Well how did Netflix find out about all this?😳 It seems to me that it’s none of their business.
  4. SO happy for you! I feel same sentiment, returning from the “nightmare of the weight and a person I DID NOT KNOW” to the me I knew until I hit 50😩. We’re getting another chance!😄

    Need some help or something!

🥰That’s another negative tape that plays in my mind, too! “You’re losing so much slower than these other people and you’re on your way to wasting this surgery”!!! We’re not wasting a dog gone thing, Rjan!I 😅l love what Cheeseburgh shared with us above—-that around 5 months she really tightened things up, avoided processed foods, kicked up exercise, etc. And we’re not even 3 months in yet! Our first month was just recovering, so we’re only 7 weeks beyond that! I’m really just now feeling more energy, pretty well figuring out what I can eat, what sets well with me and sustains the energy I need, which foods give me the most nutritional bang for the buck, and which don’t. Which foods/routines may be contributing to my constipation issue😩! We’re getting better and better at this.👍. So really? We’re just NOW getting our groove going!! We can take it from here, kick it up, smile at and love ourselves and log in here WHENEVER we need a pick me up! We’re NOT gonna waste this surgery!! So not!!!💪💝😃👏

    Need some help or something!

Hi Rjan☺️! We had surgery same day, 3/11/20 and trust me, I’ve had the thoughts and feelings you describe. It’s weird, because prior to WLS I could NOT lose 10lbs to save my life. It was a perpetual struggle. So in that sense, that we’ve lost 30-some pounds in only 11 weeks feels Wonderful! Amazing! Many people take a whole year to lose 30 lbs and even that is rare, so we’ve done it in 11 weeks! For me, I believe it was a preconceived notion that weight would come off easier and faster💃. I also don’t think one can truly be aware of the changes we go through postop in such a totally different life (menu wise) from what we had known for so long, for basically what got us into trouble. We’ve been good postop, we’ve been diligent, SURELY we should be further along, right? That was my thinking till past several days and re-reading many veterans posts who talk about their slow loss as well, but they made it!🏆And in the big scheme of things does it matter if it takes an extra month to get to where we’re DETERMINED to Arrive? My head plays games with me like “Oh, I think the loss is slowing down from first few weeks, Oh, I bet this will be it, I will only lose 2 lbs a month for the next year”. But that is my negative self talk playing tapes of futility and failure over and over in my head till it drags me down. NOT gonna give in to that! It’s exciting to BELIEVE that if we KEEP FOLLOWING OUR PLAN WE WILL ACHIEVE THE GOALS WE DESIRE! I’m NOT letting the negative self talk hyjack my plans! Not, Not, Not Gonna do that! Hang in....We’ve GOT THIS!💝
  10. Thanks, Meow😉! The single biggest tip I can give you is to Walk, Walk, Walk the hospital hall just as soon as you possibly can, and keep it up! Make it an adrenalin game to Walk ALL that you can, reason being the terrible gas pain we hear about was completely eliminated for me because of walking. They say the pain shoots up to the shoulder and I experienced Zero of it. My Surgeon did not have me on narcotics post surgery so I literally tapped into the “Joy Adrenaline” that I made it through surgery fine, and did NOT want to deal with excruciating gas pains! Nausea was real but they gave me plenty of Zofran to take home and it handled it completely. Yes, I had moderate pain abdominally, but as Catwoman described, it just felt like I had done 1,000 crunches and it only lasted a very short time. Another tip I learned here was keep a small, soft pillow handy to place on your tummy getting up and down. They had me in a binder in hospital and I kept it on a few days at home until I was able to shower. The pillow was for at home and helps. They kept me an additional night in hospital because of trouble eating jello and keeping broth down. They asked if I felt more comfortable staying that extra night and I said YES! If there was a problem I wanted it to be handled there! and not at home to end up back there. I felt great the following day and came home easily. For first few weeks I slept in a comfy recliner...it felt better support and easier getting up and down. You may not feel like walking, but again, it is SO worth it to get up and walk every hour or so, whatever you can do will reward you BIG time in far less pain and gas. I told only a very few close friends, not even extended family and SO glad I did. They would have opinions and this way my energy stayed with greatly supportive tall thin handsome hubby and friends without judgment. Keep it positive!! Mostly, just think Blue Skies and envision the Healthy, Beautiful Butterfly preparing to emerge!💖
  11. EXCITED FOR YOU, MEOW!😀 You’ve got your ducks in a row, and are READY to ROLL. I initially wanted Sleeve but surgeon suggested RNY for same reason as yours, reflux. We all have a bump or two in the road, but at 11 weeks out I am THRILLED that I chose to do this and vow to overcome any obstacles I face. We’ll be here for you to cheer you on, celebrate victories, help ease concerns. June 9th will be here and gone before you know it! CONGRATULATIONS!!🎉🎊💖

    Smoking weed post-op

I use MMJ tincture oil in the evenings, it was prescribed for nerve pain after back surgery. I only use it near bedtime, helps inflammation and comfort sleeping. BUT, I do have to plan a SMALL healthy snack b/c munchies can set in😩. The usual thing I do is keep a bottle of Premier Raspberry Clear Protein next to me to sip thru evening, and I PLAN those 90 Calories/20 Protein grams into my day’s plan. Keeping my Protein level stable through the evening really keeps munchies at bay and I can garner the other great medicinal benefits, including sleeping like a baby without being awakened with pain! Re: fear of addiction-I have none. I use a small amount of tincture and have for about a year. I realized it wasn’t working as well as early on, so rather than using more💰, last month I completely stopped for a week to reset my tolerance. There was no issue not taking it for a week-none what so ever. Psychological addiction CAN happen to people though, so personal responsibility comes with it, as with our eating and everything else in life! Good luck!

    Linzess

When I did a search on Linzess, one of the board’s veterans came up, I PM’d her, she was both very helpful and gracious. With all of the constipation discussion here on the board, I was/am curious as to how many have tried Linzess. Hopefully the others have found their answer.

    Linzess

Yes, have tried Miralax, Benefiber Clear, no help so tried Metamucil psyllium, seemed to work for a few days but then back to no help. Surgeon suggested address from both ends...Milk of Mag plus suppository or enema, may work on occasion then back to same old. I cannot keep waiting until I’m several days out and have a real problem on my hands, nor use those “poop tools” on a regular basis. So this post is mostly looking for anyone’s experience with LINZESS. I appreciate the effort of other ideas but they have been largely exhausted. Thanks!

    Pandemic Weight Gain:(

If anyone is able to explain “one day malabsorption will go away” would you please be so kind as to do so? I’ve heard others mention it on this board but my Dr. never has nor can I find science on it. Thanks.
  17. Some of these support groups remind me of lyrics to Elton John’s “Sad Songs (Say So Much)”... ..”It feels so good to hurt so bad, and suffer just enough to sing the blues.”

    Discouraging friends

WLS offers us SO many opportunities for growth and change! It’s Amazing to take a day to recognize and embrace them, beginning with....
  19. Also, whether you are willing/able to do a KETO or other very low carb plan post op. I tend to get low blood sugar so can do a lower carb, but KETO-ish leaves me wiped out, extremely low energy. I’ve watched friends drop HUGE amounts of weight VERY fast on KETO type, and suffered no blood sugar issues, but once they go back to regular balanced eating adding carbs back in, they pack the weight back on, and often times even more.😫 So if your post op plan is KETO-ish you can lose LOTS and FAST. As wise folks have stated however, whatever post op eating plan you choose, you’d be well served to try for a version of it that you can live with for the long haul- adding more calories in maintenance stage, but not having felt so carb deprived that you revert to unhealthy behaviors when it’s all said and done. Good luck!
  20. SO EXCITED FOR YOU! Your extensive research will pay off😅, and hope you take us along on the journey!!

  24. The BodyLogic DEXA Body Composition scan is supposed to give you an immediate color coded report measuring fat mass, lean mass and bone density, the color illustration also identifies the locations on the body. It runs $99 in some locations, planning to schedule next week if cost is at least in this ballpark. Insurance covered my recent DEXA bone density scan, but won’t this one.
