HELP diagnose pain? Bypassers, what's going on?
Lily66 replied to MaybeMeow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, MaybeMeow...please call your surgeon. In the meantime, hugs and hopes it’s something minor. 💖 We’ll wait to hear from you. -

Low BMR after bariatric surgery
Lily66 replied to over65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad dietician encouraged a new plan, over65. It was and still is hard for me to up the calories too, but was told exactly as you were and it seems to work. Good luck!! -
My heart rate was always >100 prior to surgery but has been steadily dropping since. Hovering around 55 now. I have the Kardia Mobile EKG (just because I’m a wonk) and EKG’s read normal. Anyone have experience with bradycardia post WL? From what I’m reading, cardiologist would likely just run an EKG.🤷♀️

My concern was the fact I’ve always been very high and have lower energy lately. Found interesting article re: WLS, Leptin levels and heart rate:

Technically, yes, Linzess “worked”, however my migraine’s were also triggered by it. Not everyone would have that by any means, but because I’ve had to be on the triptan’s for over 20 years, and now Aimovig, migraine’s are an issue here. In discussing it with PC Dr. we decided since I was entering the stage of adding more vegetables and moderate fruits back into my diet, let’s hope that will help, in addition to Milk of Mag daily until I’m regular (enough). So far so good. Must admit, it was nice to have that morning BM so effortlessly on the Linzess, but as we know, these meds so often have side effects.

Low BMR after bariatric surgery

😕Over65, Do you see your surgeon or nurse practitioner soon? I would definitely try to see them very soon and ask for guidance and advice. You deserve it!! -
Low BMR after bariatric surgery
Lily66 replied to over65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 66 and have researched these articles, as well. It makes sense that our BMR is lowered after weight loss surgery, as we’re maintaining and supporting a lower body weight. My loss is slower than 20 or 30 year olds, but I can see with patience and diligence it is happening. Your profile doesn’t show your type surgery, date, etc, so not sure how long it’s been that you’ve only lost 3 lbs? I wish you a picked up pace with the coffee! I do enjoy one cup in the morning to start my day. -

How much I will learn and grow from this life altering experience, not only about myself, but the terms of my relationships. In a word, Relationships. My relationship to nearly everything is changing. Relationship to food, to clothing, to money, to myself in the world, husband, family, friends, new boundaries, etc. For me, it has been nearly 100% positive but requires patience, persistence, no longer comparing, listening and learning, delaying gratifications, realizing that what I want most, may not be what I want right now. Great question, Embody, you’re off to a well grounded start! 🌟

Tips for hitting your daily protein and water goals
Lily66 replied to suzcar729's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hey rjan, which protein powder do you mix into your morning latte? I’d like to try that, and give my Premier Protein Cafe Latte a rest. Any tips on how to best mix protein powder in to avoid gummy or clumpy coffee would also be appreciated. Thanks! -
Diabetic and High blood pressure, off meds?
Lily66 replied to Mackismine44's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
Surgery 3/11/20, I went off BP med, Benicar 20mg and stayed off for 2 months did great without it. At 3 months post op, I now take same med except 5mg tab. No blood sugar issues. Osteoarthritis in my back was great for 2 months, but has returned with a vengeance this past month. I WAS taking Cymbalta 20mg for that but quit-may have to go back on it for quality of life. Also took Diclofenac for herniated disc which we’re prohibited from taking after surgery (NSAID). May I ask what med you take for arthritis? -
Tips for hitting your daily protein and water goals
Lily66 replied to suzcar729's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I did same. I made sure I got my protein in, 60-70 grams daily, this way: **Premier Protein Cafe Latte Shake for breakfast: 30 grams protein, 11.5oz fluid. **Evening Snack Preventer, sipped after dinner till bedtime: Premier Protein Clear Raspberry: 20 gram protein, 17oz fluid So between those two “built ins”, I got 50 grams protein, 28.5 fluid. I filled in remainder of the day to easily reach protein & fluid goals. Made it VERY SIMPLE! Good luck! -
What an Amazing Victory! 100 lbs in 10 months is incredible! 🎉 Congratulations and Enjoy the New You! 💃

hunger pains, and cravings post op
Lily66 replied to rudyAA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m a bit over 3 months post op, have gone through many stages re: hunger—and see that it will likely continue to change. This early out, no “stage” is likely an indicator of how things will be permanently, even semi permanently, so relax, go with the flow and listen to your body. Examples...early on, I had same as you describe now, felt like and probably was real hunger. I sipped clear raspberry protein drink, bone broth, and my allowed foods. It passed. Gradually eased to no real hunger, but ate because of acidic feeling and rumbling in tummy. Now, I’ve been released/advised to eat 1,000 cal daily and any food I can tolerate (focus on best nutrition bang for the buck) so have experimented in bites of tasty, too, to see how well I tolerate. Tried 2 bites of hubby’s taco, oh no, not the same as I recall, chest felt full and did not want another bite, (fat/rich...i will be sick) not eager to do it again. Quesadilla bite, same. Foods that I used to really, really enjoy, my body now rejects. I’m glad it’s doing its “tool thingy”, but it’s a mourning, as well. My pouch definitely feels great restriction when I try to eat any restaurant take out. I looked at his fries last week, wanting to taste one, and my body said don’t even think about it—gross, sick, greasy. My best advice? Listen to your body, don’t try to over rule nor over ride your pouch. There is definitely a new sheriff in town, and mournful or not, it is what I wanted.💃 -
Shudder, shudder, I’m a bit over 3 months and so far no hair loss...but trust me, every day is suspense “will this be the day that clumps come out?”😳 I’m admittedly a bit terrorized by the thought of losing 50% of my hair🤯! Arabesque, SO happy for YOU that you’re in the new growth phase!

Awww! Such a Yummy Father’s Day 🦐🎁 !! So nice of you MaybeMeow!! Glad you’re coming along better each day and great you’ll have the whole weekend for just YOU to relax, breathe, care for you. Fine here...had a bit of nausea for no apparent reason today-finally took Zofran and it’s easing up. Drinking water, trying to stay positive amidst the rising COVID-19 numbers here in FL🤧. Walk back memory lane re: your Dad not liking heavy women—mine, God rest his soul was exactly same🙄. He would be 92 right now=their generation. I can still remember feeling his disappointment when I began gaining. SO happy for you that you’re in charge and focused ONWARD!💃🌟 Wishing you a thoroughly regenerative weekend! -
Hi again... I see Amlodipine, Seroquel and Lyrica all have weight gain as a side effect. I would definitely meet with Dr. to see if there are other weight friendly substitutions. I recall my surgeon warning against this for the rest of life—-to be sure to ask prescriber for something that won’t make the journey more difficult. Hugs and prayer that answers are right around the corner for you!
-
Hugs, Hug, Hugs...hang in there. To my memory, the meds you describe could be the culprit. If they’re helping and no substitutions available, it may be a stretch to just your best.
