I am 11 weeks postop today, and have tried everything under the sun for nearly constant constipation😧. Appt. with PCP this morning, gave me samples of Linzess to try—he is certain it will help. Has anyone else tried Linzess? I get in more than 64oz fluid daily, 60-70grams protein, soft vegetables and fruits, avg 800-900 cal daily. Walk 2-3 miles at least 5 mornings weekly, avoid cheese, ya di ya da. Last Sunday I was so blocked, drank an entire bottle of magnesium citrate and still nothing. It took a full dose of milk of mag that night to get anything going. Not healthy to continue on that way....thus trying Linzess. If anyone has postop experience with it, would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I was on medically prescribed cannabis tincture following back surgery. It helped a great deal with pain and inflammation, and as you suggest, was much better than opiod. In the first few months post WLS it was fine, still helping and no increased appetite. As I neared month 6 post WLS, I noticed my appetite was returning and the tincture was making it harder to stay on plan. By then I was down 50lbs which helped back pain so much that I just quit the cannabis tincture completely. I wish you the best, may your body lead you to a good place!

Once again, one size doesn’t fit all and that’s the great thing about a forum like this, as a smorgasbord with many perspectives and options sans calories. Generally speaking, with just a tad of introspection each of us know what we need to do, given the individual circumstance we’re in. There have been times in life that I needed direct straight talk and other times when ‘I had the facts’ yet needed the positive Can Do!, You Go Girl!, You Got This!, support and motivation that community can provide. Both were and are valid needs. Both were and are available on this forum, both were and are what make it a great place! Take what we need and leave the rest.💖

Always a worthwhile discussion as so many are in this “constipation boat” with us. Everyone has been so helpful with suggestions, Miralax, MOM, Benefiber, Psyllium, Dulcolax, glycerin suppositories, Smooth Move tea, enema’s, along with increased fruits, veggies, increased fluids, consistently walking 2+ miles daily. Have tried each of these, and still do many, with great hope but nothing works more than a few days. Perhaps it truly is just an Irritable Bowel in grouchy mode from being messed with during surgery. It seems for many to ultimately resolve itself over time to a large degree...?🤷♀️ My surgeon prefers the Benefiber route, my PCP prefers MOM full dose daily until a good movement is produced and then a tablespoon of MOM nightly as maintenance. He added “your body needs the magnesium anyway”. Sadly, the tbls. nightly doesn’t maintain. Ready to give Linzess, for irritable bowel (and not a laxative) another whirl. Good luck Zom B, and thanks everyone for discussion.💝

Oh dear...I trust you’ve called Dr. re bleeding constipation? My heart goes out to you on this whole issue...for many of us bowels are a challenge. Just when I think I’ve nailed what works- it doesn’t, so from my end I can’t really give good advice. Lately, what has worked for me is Swiss Kriss, which is senna and herbs. It is a laxative, however, and daily laxative is not where I want to be. I see my PCP in a few weeks and am planning to give Linzess (not a laxative) another try. At 11 weeks out he suggested it and gave me samples to try. Deep down I felt I hadn’t given my body, fruits, veggies, fiber, more volume enough time, so after his samples were over decided against it-though it did seem to work. Now? Seven months out? I’ve tried it all and ready to give Linzess a “go” (pun intended😅). Best of luck to you and keep us posted!💖

Hi there...to change your profile, up in the right hand corner next to your name, click on the drop down arrow. Then click on my surgery, this will allow you to change your status. Hope all goes well with the Dr. today! -
This looks SO FABULOUSLY CHIC and body lengthening on you!! And what a buy! I hope you’ll smile at the silly utility comment, chalk it up to the lack of exposure from that well intended jokester and instead envision yourself on the Paris catwalk before returning it!! Your boots, belt, accessories and attitude make the difference👌. Truly gorgeous!😍

Healthier, But Lonelier
Lily66 replied to kc892020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it also boils down to the fact that some of us are more private by nature. Period. Realizing the spectrum of some let it all hang out, like it or not, here’s my reality, to the other end of utmost secrecy surrounding their personal journey. Most of us likely fall somewhere in the middle of this continuum and it’s all okay!😃 The important point is to know and understand ourselves well enough to consciously choose how we design our lives for greatest peace and quality regardless of what another thinks we should do. -
Mine was 5 hours of ridiculous, and the results were even MORE ridiculous, someday I’ll get it out and post it here. It said I would likely be successful with WLS but also that I have an inordinate fear of large animals.😂🤣😄

Dry, brittle hair
Lily66 replied to CheerfulLoser's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Same here! Dry, brittle, awful. My guess, in my case anyway, is the (drastically) reduced fat intake, about ready to work a few slices of avocado back in. Holding me back is avocado is def a trigger food for me....love, love that stuff. Argan oil treatments would likely cause less weight gain.🙄 -
How do you deal with people's opinions and comments?
Lily66 replied to breavsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
God rest her soul, but my mother did exactly same, Chubrub. For as long as I can remember, too thin, too fat, bridge of nose too thick, “you have teeth from your paternal grandmother”, and high waisted, too🤣 ya di ya da (wait, maybe we had same mother?) What the heck???🙄 Fortunately, we survived and dealt with it. Unbelievable!! Congrats on becoming a strong, independent woman to dismiss it💃💖🌟! Breavsg, moral of the story is dismiss it all and trust these moments or glitches in human behavior do make us stronger!😊 -
I’m thankful that my body is teaching me to pause, listen, learn and renew. Thankful for this website and the lovely souls gathered to empower and encourage one another. Thankful for my sweet, gentle, strong, self confident, funny, tender, courageous, wise, spiritual and handsome hubby. Thirty years together and still crazy for each other.💖

Congratulations on 100 lbs. down!!! Woo-Hoo! Celebrate that every single moment! YOU ARE DOING AMAZING! I can understand your feelings, and it could be partly what you mention, hormones, stress, etc. BUT, it remains, you’ve worked very hard and are being VERY SUCCESSFUL! You’re not alone in feeling down some days...add in Covid restrictions and concerns along with everything else and it feels normal that we have a bit of that. What isn’t okay, is that last week I was feeling down and ate 5 of hubby’s Hershey nuggets when not even hungry😳! Old behavior that reared it’s ugly head and I caved. I made a list of healthier options for those moments...brush my teeth to change the taste, walk around, wait at least 20 minutes to decide if it’s worth it, put on a fave TV program or music, reach out to a friend, log into Baripal, ANYTHING except cave. The key for us is to FOCUS ON OUR SUCCESS and not the down moments. WHERE THOUGHTS GO, ENERGY FLOWS. I asked my surgeon why I have not lost more “visible” weight, as you describe. I sure don’t look like I’ve lost 55 lbs., some friends don’t even notice. He explained that we lose from the inside of our bodies out. So the weight you have lost is the most dangerous to your health—- the fat we have wrapped around our internal organs, the deep more lethal fat. In my case, it was the deep belly fat. This is exactly what we want to lose first, in getting to a healthier place. I am only now beginning to see the more surface changes. Keep on keepin’ on and don’t lose the faith. IT IS HAPPENING FOR YOU!!! Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!🏆👑💖

Well, this isn't what I imagined 1 year out
Lily66 replied to ahillig's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hugs and all best to you ahillig! It does sound so puzzling this far out. Good luck and please keep us posted.💖 -
I’m 6.5 months out, my nutritionist wants me in the 800-1,000 daily to preserve metabolism, have enough energy to be quite active, avoid burnout and boredom. I’m losing slowly, like only 1-1.25 lbs per week and may try to mix it up a bit. Maybe a few days day at 700, then a few 950, back to 700, etc. and see what happens.

Weight watchers post vsg
Lily66 replied to shortsleevedT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, @lynnlovesthebeach. You nailed it, my concern is members of the group would judge, whisper, gossip, undermine in not understanding that we, too, still very much have to work at it. Many have gone to my local one for years and have become a tight group. The social aspect is not my interest and intent-it’s the accountability and frankly, they do offer quite healthy plans when you leave out sugar, processed foods. I may look into it soon. Thanks again🌟. -
Weight watchers post vsg

I’ve been on and off WW over the decade...and thinking of joining back at some point. I’ve kept my WLS very, very private, only hubby, and 2 close friends know. Wondering if others share their WLS at WW or can we just maintain our confidentiality there as well? That’s one thing holding me back from WW...feeling guilty🙄 not revealing my new tool, but truly? It should not matter, right? During pre-op with surgeon, I showed him over $1,000 in WW receipts over the decade-told him I always feared I’d be in real trouble if I ever stopped, but yo yoed for certain. After all that, achieving and MAINTAINING Lifetime would be very helpful to stay accountable. -
Losing weight... gaining height?
Lily66 replied to GivinItMyALL's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
😅I’m still at the baggy underwear stage, and love it! Lol. Ahhh, simple pleasures. Pre-op I would never, ever put panties in the dryer...now, I have to shrink them all I can and still baggy. Trying to get closer to goal before buying new ones. I inwardly smile and celebrate my baggie panties!🤩💃 -
Looks absolutely DELISH!😋! Thanks for sharing.

My nut allows me to count Premier Protein Clear for protein and fluid goals. They do encourage “real protein food” but when I have it for convenience it does in fact count for me.
