  1. Thanks so much Bren, your explanation helped! Initially, I was adamant on having sleeve. Surgeon asked if I ever have acid reflux? I replied, Yes, rarely, but on occasion. He drew pictures explaining how and why reflux would likely be much worse following sleeve. I left his office rather let down, but after research and the experience of others here, I feel great peace in going with RNY. I want to go through this only once, if possible. Best wishes to you, and thanks again! -Lily

Beautifully stated, and Oh. So. True. —Thanks for sharing!
  3. Congrats, Mello1! Exciting for sure! I had same thoughts as you re: hunger on this pre-op. I’m on day 5 of it and can honestly say, as others have (that I admittedly thought ‘oh that won’t be me’)...that it really isn’t that bad. Each day gets easier and easier on it. I hope this will be your experience, too! You deserve an easy go of it for all of the schedule charting you’ve done for us. Thanks again, and only wonderful wishes!
  4. Hi Bren, Welcome! Excited for you!! I’m scheduled for gastric bypass on 3/11. Curious, did your Dr. describe the difference between the bypass and mini bypass? Anythng you can share on it would be most helpful. Thanks!
  5. So glad it’s working for you! Yes, it’s so helpful with anti inflammatory, pain, nausea, anxiety and I understand all of these can be, at times, issues following WLS. My pre-op is Tuesday, will ask surgeon but glad to know you have had no issues. Continued best wishes, and Thanks!

    IAmGrace

So good to hear from you IAmGrace, and so happy you’re doing well and had it done! Be gentle with yourself and just SMILE that you’ve done it! I’m 66 and about to go in for it 3/11. YOU are my inspiration! Please keep posting, okay? Love and {{{Hugs}}}!
  7. Well far from “coke”, my Dr. suggested medical marijuana tincture drops under my tongue following back surgery last year. I take it a few times weekly as needed. Much better than narcotic pain relievers. Has anyone had experience with medical marijuana tincture drops post op WLS? Thanks.

    This broth is life!!

Thanks! So glad to know this, as I nearly bought it last week then set it back down. Will def. try it!
  14. Hi Slimmy-mommeee! I catch your excitement girl, and you’re right, I do wake up SO happy each morning as if I’m going on vacation and that the time is NEAR! Woo-Hoo!! I know for me, fear is the negative tape of self talk that runs through my head at times until I TURN IT OFF, switch the channel to positive, heady Hooray! self talk. We’ve got this! My pre-op calls for 2 protein shakes, and one lean meal of 2-4oz of protein and a nonstarch veggie. Countdown is ON! And Thanks for your enthusiasm and contagious happy spirit!
  15. Great article and website! Makes me very pleased to be heading in this direction. The human body is remarkably resilient in its ability to reset and reinvent itself🌟 Thanks for sharing!
  16. And Mello1, sending prayer and good vibes that your tooth/root canal journey is not too painful and comes out even better than new🌟🥰!
  17. Mello1 and ALL MARCH pre-ops!. RIGHT there with you that it’s getting REAL😅!!!! My liquids begin in 4 days😳. Stocked up. Each meal I eat right now seems surreal, bittersweet, somewhat melancholy. I remind myself that it’s not the end- it’s the beginning of what will be Wonderful. Out with the old, in with the NEW appreciation of everything. So very grateful for our community here❤️, what would we do without it??? So many generous, knowledgeable, loving WLS veterans who have nurtured us along like ‘little chicks’☺️. We cannot Thank each of You enough!!💝 This morning I Amazon ordered a fairly cute black zip up lounging type dress to wear walking the halls and also easy enough to wear home from hospital. Two front pockets for phone, etc. so I’m not schlepping stuff I want near. Going to order a front closure sports bra. The less I need to bend, twist, raise arms, etc. the happier and more comfy I will be. Eager to hear more pre-op prep tips anyone can share! Thanks and let’s replace any negative fear thoughts with positively thrilling exhilaration that our long awaited time is near!😃

    Pre op scheduled

Right there with you! Though I mentally, and very seriously feel 35-40 (sometimes even younger😅)...I will, in fact, be 66 later this month😲. My surgery is 3/11/20 and it’s because I want my body to catch up with my youthful mind set!! I want to MOVE, stay STRONG, AGILE, MOTIVATED, LAUGHING, living and loving life! All the more reason for us to do it!👌😃😅

    Tomorrow is the big day!

Sending you all Wonderful vibes this morning!✨🌟✨
  21. My surgeon insists we use a Vitamin Patch for first 30 days following surgery, but no longer than 30 days. I’m curious as to why no longer than 30 days🤔..will ask him during pre-op in a few weeks, but wondering if anyone has experience with them? Thanks!
  22. Forgive my ignorance here, but what type of IV therapy is this? My surgery is next month and you both sound like IV therapy was a great help! Congratulations, Glad YOU are DOING GREAT! ...and Thanks!
