Craving A Big Salad! When? How much?
Lily66 replied to Lily66's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Mmmmm, girlfriend you KNOW good food! All of those sound delish and I would enjoy!! Most often, I prefer a vinaigrette with crumbled bleu, Roquefort or Feta. For the past few years I’ve worked with Ken’s Steakhouse Lite Northern Italian with Basil & Romano. It’s very adaptable in a nice light way. Only 45 calories per 2 tbls., 1 Carb, 0 Sugar. -
For Those who had Robotic Gastric Bypass
Lily66 replied to medicpup2's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had robotic gastric bypass on 3/11/20. Went in at 8am, 10:30am surgery, all was great! I walked, walked, walked and thought I had this. Then, close to noon on the 12th, nausea came on and I could not imagine holding anything down. It was like my stomach was in my throat and was not about to let anything by. They increased anti nausea IV meds and by evening I was over it. I stayed the 2nd night to be safe. They sent me home with Zofran every 8 hours, Promethazine liquid yuck syrup every 6 hours, Gabapentin liquid every 8 hours. Even now, 2.5 weeks out, I still get quite nauseated if I don’t take anti nausea meds. Getting better....but not there yet. -
Craving A Big Salad! When? How much?
Lily66 replied to Lily66's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yum, yum, yummy yum! YOUR salad contains all of my fave ingredients! I am not craving anything like greasy burger, fries, junk...craving good, clean, healthy food but MUST be patient. Thanks for the journey in my mind with those ingredients, tho! And yes, to so many who remind us to lose (at least adjust) this notion of BIG. Portion control is definitely my lesson presented. Thanks and love to all of you! -
Hi All... Not sure if there is already a thread for March surgery yet, but if not, here’s one and ready to support one another! My Gastric Bypass is scheduled 3/11/2020...working to get my head right for 2 week pre-op😳!

constipation anyone? Im 2wks post op....
Lily66 replied to KS Mermaid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree-severe constipation here. On day 4,5 and 6 took milk of magnesia. Usually very effective for me, helped very little. Called Dr. he suggested colace, and miralax, fiber, or suppositories. Different things work for different folks so we have to experiment with what works For us. Plus waster, water, water and walking, walking, walking. My best tip is STAY AHEAD OF IT! The sooner you can get regular, (and accumulated OUT) the better. I was too patient waiting for things to kick in thus, spent one very miserable day😖. Good luck! -

March 2020 Surgery Folks Come On in!
Lily66 replied to Mello1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello...Had surgery Wednesday morning! It’s behind me now, WooHoo! As soon as they got me to my room they had me up walking. I went out to walk, every time I got up to use the bathroom (and then some). I believe the very frequent walks can be attributed to very little gas pain-nearly nonexistent. It made me a believer so I kept it up. Where I ran into trouble😏was we believe I drank too large of water swallows, forgetting the small sip rule, and was first class sick, dry heaving, extreme nausea😖. Couldn’t keep a bite of jello down-felt like it was stuck in my throat. They decided to keep me 2 nights. This morning I was able to sip chicken broth and only a few bites of jello. This Baripals forum has helped me enormously and I thank, honor and support each of you.! For those who have yet to do this, believe them when they tell you to walk, walk, walk and very slow sipping is KEY. Thank you Baripals for participating in this amazing group!💝🌟🙏 -
March 10th surgery date

CONGRATULATIONS!! -
Wow! Momof3, What an inspirational post on your journey! Congratulations! and enjoy every moment of your newly healthy, beautiful self! Our stats going into surgery were/are virtually the same...height/weight. My skinny clothes were always a 6. My closet still has some of the nicer things I was determined to fit into again...yet closet is mostly XL or XXL. I’m determined to be successful with this surgery, yet it’s hard for me to envision watching the sizes go down. Sort of like “this appears to happen to everyone else, but me? Is it possible?...Did you have this mind game? Again, Congrats and Best Wishes Always!!

March 10th surgery date
Lily66 replied to Confidently_Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honey, I’m right there with you! Dear hubby just talked me down off the ledge when I frightfully (after ALL the effort to get to this point!) said “I know we’ll have a life again (unlike past 2 weeks of pre-op😩)...I am doing the right thing, aren’t I?” When all along, up until this point, it’s been me convincing him it’s right for me. It sure feels schizo doesn’t it?!?!😜 It’s a time for us to be gentle with ourselves✨, not over think this, not doubt our decision. For me, this has been a 6 month+ process of studying, soul and mind searching, never doubting it was going to be good. Smile today, drink plenty of water, project thoughts 6 months from now and how we’ll be light and airy and remembering this humble moment when we stood tall, took a deep breath and redesigned our future! Love, hugs and All Wonderful Wishes to everyone!❤️ -

Exactly! I think we’re going through very normal and predictable experiences here, for your posts above echo mine! All of them! It’s been a very exciting journey, and Yes! I’m ready for it to happen and be over, but it’s like the feelings/experiences, fear of regret, almost a sadness, is today. It helps knowing others are having same...and I trust we will come through this as Happy with our decisions as 99% of others who have gone before us are. Hugs, prayers and smiles to my WLS siblings! -
Medical marijuana card
Lily66 replied to Elisa Maria's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What works for one does not work for all. I do not drink alcohol of any kind, have never cared for it, and strongly advise against mixing MM and alcohol. By the same token, I don’t believe mixing MM and alcohol was even part of this thread. Used sparingly and PRN, each has its rightful and legal place. The subject of addiction is an entirely different topic. -
Medical marijuana card
Lily66 replied to Elisa Maria's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was prescribed MM last year following back surgery. Not wanting to inhale ANYTHING unnecessarily into my lungs I agreed to go with Tincture that is taken sublingually. It helps soooo much. Last week was pre-op appt. I asked surgeon, he said he is fine with it as long as anesthesia was okay. They said yes, tincture can be used safely up until the night before surgery but not the day of. Again, this is only for Tincture. -
Sleeve surgery/Back surgery
Lily66 replied to RainbowBrite57's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had severe pain with herniated disc L5/S1, resulting in microdiscectomy, laminectomy, foraminotomy last May. While I cannot tell you what to do, my 4 months of post op PT would have been much easier and more productive had I not had the extra weight to deal with. Additionally, recovery from back surgery contributed 27 lbs of added weight-which I’m told is quite common, steroids, limited activity, hubby getting carryout, etc. Any way you schedule the 2 surgeries presents a challenge. Personally, if I had it to do over again I would likely prefer the order you are, WLS first. You will just have to be extra diligent in trying not to regain weight...they will likely use steroids, etc. In that sense, there’s merit in getting back surgery done first? Big help I’ve been, eh?😏 If nothing else, I truly feel your pain. Have you talked with either surgeon about it? -

Cramping after surgery
Lily66 replied to Slimmy-mommeee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wooo-Hoooo Slimmy!!! Girl you did it!! They say what you’re experiencing is normal, tho I don’t underestimate how disconcerting it must feel. So I’m trusting it will get better and you are on your way to SLIMMY😃! Bless you and please keep us posted. CONGRATULATIONS!! -
I believe you are not alone...some research this for years, some months, etc. I remember feeling overwhelmed at times. Finally, my solution was: 1.) Create a binder and put all of your material in there, tabs if they help. Having all info in one known location simplifies. 2.) Yes. Read, Read, Read, make notes on topics important to you. Then, use the search line on this site and you’ll find others have likely had same concern. 3.) When you feel that overwhelmed coming on, break things into small parts and focus on what you need to do first. No, I have not heard of one perfect person on this board. Learning, being prepared, doing your absolute best, listen to and question your surgeon, you will do fine!

Hoooray! Now we have 2 green lights! Enjoy, they are (to me) the Best...I’ve heard others say the opposite, but very easily tolerated here. Good luck!

can someone just tell me
Lily66 replied to ninalinas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there Ostflicka! Pre-op appointment today, surgeon said medical marijuana was fine with him but pls run it by anesthesiologist. I did, and she said it’s fine the night before but not day of surgery. She said “While we still don’t have a lot of data on it, we DO know that people have been (illegally) using marijuana for the past 60+ years, and we have never had issues”. Thanks for encouraging me to run it by them!....gives me peace of mind and will be better than any other pain med post surgery. -
Re: Barimelts...had pre-op with Surgeon, Registered Dietician, Nurse Anesthetist...they said Barimelts in general are fine. They said take them as directed for 3 months, we’ll check blood levels to be sure I’m getting what I need. I know we’re all different, but/and hope this helps you!

Any upcoming March 2020 Sleevers out there??
Lily66 replied to Pansypicker's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hmmmm...could this be a March 11th syndrome? LOL. I, too, am 3/11 surgery and if I stress about ANYTHING surrounding this, it’s fear of not losing the weight. Something tells me it must be a common phenomenon, for we’ve all likely tried everything possible before the last resort of WLS. I HAVE!! AND YOU HAVE!! I’ve lost 9 lbs on this pre-op diet effort, and believe with ALL of my big ‘ol heart that you and I, and everyone who follows protocol to a T will be successful. I’m over 60, and while convincing myself that I will lose, I also believe it will require being as vigilant as I’ve ever been in my life with anything! I’m NOT going through all of this only to screw it up. Stay strong, stay excited, stay faithful, and wait for that beautiful, healthy flower to unfold VERY SHORTLY! -
I will let you know!

Love ‘em! Have pre-op with surgeon tomorrow morning, will see what he says.
