I understand perfectly how do you feel about eating soft foods. When I started that phase I quickly found out that certain things would not stay down, such as tuna and other things as I came across them. The important thing is to remember to chew your food really really well at least 20 times before you try to swallow. I can tell you from learning the hard way, and throwing up multiple times from trying to eat too quickly it is not a fun thing to spend the next two hours feeling sick. Just take it slow and incorporate little things at a time to see how you do. Good luck.

I had my surgery 6 days ago and being on a more restrictive clear liquid than pre-surgery, I am starving. Nothing I drink is helping this feeling subside. Is there anything I can do? I thought about sucking on pieces of a saltine cracker.

I was told I could do the cream soups starting Monday. I don’t know about any protein pudding‘s. I was told I could eat sugar free pudding. You can have these after you’re clear liquids or according to your physicians plan.

It might help if I could drink some of my protein drinks. They didn’t have me starting on those until Tuesday. But the broth from the Pho restaurant sounds of interest. I used to love beef broth before surgery now I like the chicken broth better.

Had popcorn on my preop liquid diet!

I had liver reducing liquid diet. Clear liquids only, with the exception of celery, cauliflower, broccoli and pickles. Protein drinks, broths, decaf coffee and tea. Awful, but not as bad as what I am on now!! -

I am so happy to hear I am not the only one that broke down and had some popcorn before my surgery. I go this Monday, February 3 for gastric bypass. I am scared and excited at the same time. I was going to have it done last year and my family talked me out of it, so I had to re-qualify again. This time I’m going through with it.
