Alcohol 3 weeks post sleeve op.

Rude comments are unnecessary. She asked a question in a forum made for ASKING QUESTIONS. If you don’t have anything helpful to contribute to the post then move along. I personally don’t see the issue with having a drink. I would suggest starting with 1 drink and seeing how you feel. Remember to sip slowly as it will hit a lot harder than what you are used to and worse case scenario if you do dump you’ll be able to feel it coming sooner if you’re sipping versus drinking faster. I hope you enjoy the wedding and spending time with your friends! ❤️

    Gastric r&y

I agree with catwoman! Rice is complicated. I tried it when I was about 4-5 month post op and wished I hadn’t. I became very sick, it felt like I had swallowed a bag of rocks. But, now I am 14 months post op and I can eat rice (in moderation) easily and pain free! So it really just depends on the person!

    Struggle

I am 14 months post op but I remember the feeling of regret and depression like it was yesterday! My family ate as if nothing changed (and for them it hadn’t). But I felt alone, sad and like I had made a terrible mistake and like you said…there was no turning back! It lasted about 10 weeks for me. Once I was out of the purée/soft food phases things did get better! I also had a talk with my family about what I needed from them and how they could help me by eating the foods they wanted outside of the house or just not around me at all. I felt selfish asking, but they were all happy to do it! They actually felt bad for the thought never crossing their minds! I didn’t tell anyone about my surgery besides my close family so I didn’t go to the get together, cookouts, gatherings either! My advise? Go to the cookouts when you’re ready! I say all of this to say… it does get easier!! You will get past this phase and you will be happy that you made this decision! I’m sorry it’s sucks right now, but your future self with thank you!! ❤️

    Any Bypassers in their 20s?

I’m 28 and had my bypass May 2020! I’m 9 months post-op and have lost 130 pounds! I can eat almost anything. I try to stick with eating mostly high protein foods. I had a baaad sweet tooth before surgery and still get cravings but small bites of good sweets or sugar free options always satisfy me. Something that occupies my time now (that I never in a million years thought I would ENJOY) is lifting weights. I dont like cardio workouts, but lifting weights makes me feel stronger and like I’ve really accomplished something when I’m finished. The best part of it all is my self esteem! I have a confidence I’ve never had before and I don’t allow myself to care what anyone thinks of me. I finally feel like my outside appearance matches my heart. If that makes sense? Lol CONGRATULATIONS on getting your surgery date!! Everyone told me I would be so happy I did this while I was young so I could spend my younger years enjoying life to the fullest! And they were absolutely right!!
  22. I had gastric bypass 5-14-20....it took about 3 months for me to feel what I would consider “normal”. The soreness and fatigue was gone after 4-6 weeks. I had some depression after my surgery due to not feeling like I could participate in family functions bc everything in my family was centered around food. Also most of my family didn’t know I had WLS. So lots of factors (that were my choice) played into that. But as of today I am 9 months post-op and have lost 130 pounds! I have more energy and I am happier than I have ever been. ❤️ Congrats on your surgery!! Wishing you happiness and a speedy recovery!
