Hi, my name is Teresa from Amite, Louisiana about an hour north of New Orleans. I am being banded on July 16th and can't wait. Lets keep in touch and hope a great success for you too. I had a kidney removed with cancer in 2002 and fortunately the cancer was contained and did not need treatment. God blessed me too.

I am going through the same thing. My surgery is on July 16th. I am taking an antibiotic for a tooth that I thought may have been trying to get infection. Went to the dentist and she said no but left me on the antibiotic just in cast. My PCP has me on another antibiotic for my sinus infection and a steriod dose pack. I am to repeat my third blood work this week to see. I have my fingers crossed because it was only going to give me about three weeks after surgery before back to driving my school bus in this South Louisiana temps and no place to stop and get sick and diarrhea would not be good either.. Hope all goes well with you too.

plevy, That is great. Yes mine is July 16th at 1:30. Nothing after midnight I will be dieing of thirst by 1:30 PM. Lets all stay in touch. This is great. Can't wait.

I am 51 and I have lost and gain, lost and gain, done all kinds of diets, diet pills and everytime I lost I gained that back and more after a period of time. It is time for me to get restriction so that I can't eat as much and keep restriction so that I will not gain it back this time. You can do it. Just hang in there.

My doctor suggest approx. 10 pound average a month. You are doing very well. Keep up the good work.

I understand what you are going through. I am waiting for my surgery on July 16th and the doctor's office called and said my white blood count was high and needed to repeat it next week before surgery. The only thing I have is a sinus infection and a tooth that part of the filling fell out of. I went to the dentist today and it is not infected but she has me on antibiotics just in case so it won't before surgery. My primary care doctor has me on another antibiotic and steriod dose pack for my sinus infection and feels with me taking both antibiotics my blood test should be okay. I hope so. Keep in touch. I hope we have our surgeries as scheduled.

So the doctor finally agreed to do it. That is your choice not the doctor. You are the one to make that decision. Did you attend a seminar? Alot of people find that if they take their husband, mother, etc. then they understand alot more about it and feel much better about it. Good Luck to you. You are worth it.

Yes I would check with them. We have Humana through the school system and they don't cover any weight loss surgeries. Good luck.

My Point Exactly. Do not compare me with anyone who has had the gastric band, the sleeve, etc. I am not against anyone who has the gastirc band, my niece had it done and is doing great. But there are others who are not even doing any weight loss program that want to sit back and compare to anything other than what we are doing.

Sorry about that I missed that you are already banded because I saw the preopt weight. You hang in there. You are ahead of alot of us.

Jorge52856, Hang in there. None of us know how easy or hard this journey will be but we do know we can be successful. I have lots to lose too. (its hard for me to say it publically, maybe its a woman thing) I don't have as much buy you may lose a lot quicker than I do. Jorge when is your surgery. Mine is July 16th. Yes it will continue because my meeting that I had to attend at the doctor's office we were told your big friends are going to be jealous and hurt your feelings before anyone else. My reply would have bee "If you don't feel we have to work at it why don't you come on and get banded with me and we can do it together". Then send her to a seminar first. She will see how much work there is with this tool. Hang in there girl Another thing I have a problem with is people that are not even doing any of it comparing me to people who have had gastic bypass. I tell them I'm not even banded yet but there still will not be any comparison because my is expected to take longer so I don't gain it back. LOL

Just curious, thinking about this for my Dad. Does Medicare cover all expenses of the surgery. He is 76 so not sure if he can. The nurse said she thinks he can because he is in very good health. He does have blood pressure but never been in hospital or any major problems or surgeries. Good Luck to you.

I can definitely relate to the knee problem. I have been told I need a complete knee replacement but was also told he really did not want to do it at 51 years old because I would need it again in about 10 or 12 years. I really hope this does help where I can continue to work and begin walking again and shopping. Good Luck

cheryl1952, I am self pay $13,600.00. I have State Group through the school (School Bus Driver) and it does not pay for weight loss surgeries. Although with self pay it is faster. I started with going to the seminar 6/3 and completed everything and got my call with my surgery date 6/20 and surgery 7/16. So I am not complaining about that part even though its not easy to come up with that much money. I hope things go well and you can be on your way too. Keep in touch. Rubydot, I hope things work out for you. Maybe give them another chance and see what happens. The staff at my doctors office is great. Each and everyone is so sweet. I hope that is what you find. It helps the trip go smoother. I had a uncle that use to leave in Bogalusa, Conrad Crowe. I miss him much. Keep in touch.

LindaD, Welcome to lapbandtalk. I have just completed all of my test and appointments and got my paperwork for surgery which is scheduled of July 16th. I started my liquid Optifast preopt diet today. But I got a call from the doctor's office today saying my white blood count is high, must have an infection. I am taking antibiotics for both a tooth and a sinus infection. Have to repeat my blood work next week. Sure hope it does not mess me up. I am so excited and I know you are too. I hope you get your date real soon. Hang in there we are up for a new life ahead.

Rubydot, Probably what she was saying is that with surgeons they get emergency surgery at times that messes with their schedules. The two times that I have been to see mine he had emergencies and I had to wait. Normally he has surgeries in the am and appointments in the pm but does not run like that all the time with surgeons having emergency surgeries. I really like Dr. Redmann and would not trade him for anything.
