The 3 weeks between getting approved and surgery I hit the weights hard and heavy, I actually gained 5lbs maintaining the same cardio workout and diet. I'm going to start lightly adding the weights back after 2 weeks post op.

6/18 here. I started my pre-op diet 6/10 @ 343lbs, weighed in before surgery @ 328lbs, 1st follow-up on 6/24 weighed in @ 318lbs. I've been doing about 20 minutes a day on the eliptical followed by another 10 - 20 minutes on the treadmill or recumbent bike since the day after my 1st follow-up skipping a day here or there.(missed 2 days so far) I'm only weighing at the surgeons office for consistency because every scale at the hospital where I work is a little different. Hope all are doing well. James
  3. Not necesarily obese people, but people with a sedentary life style are at greather risk. Sitting or laying in one position too long with pressure on certain areas of the body and when pressure is on a vein it can cause blood to remain in one location too long and coagulate and cause a clot. Crossing your legs is one of the most common reasons dvt's form in the calf area. Truckers and other long distance drivers are also at greater risk due to sitting in one place too long usually getting dvt's in the back of the thighs. I can't say why it happened to Wanda being that she was on anti-coagulants. But get up and keep moving after your surgery even if it is just walking around your house and don't stay in one position too long and don't cross your legs. I hope my explaination help and wasn't too long winded. James
  4. I hope she won't be in bed all week. If that's the case you may be visiting her in the hospital when she's admited with pneumonia. I just had my surgery on Wednesday June 18 and I went and played mini golf Saturday night. My friend had to get the ball out of the hole for me because bending over that far still isn't very comfortable but other than that no problems. I was also walking around the mall shopping on Friday.
  5. June 18. How long ago did u have yours? How have u done so far?

  6. I'm a nurse and my Dr told me to plan on being off for 2 weeks because I have to lift and push and pull on people so I would think 1 week would be sufficient.

    Anyone in East Texas

I know who he is but that's about it. I know one person that's used him but she is one of those closet bandsters and won't discuss it or even try being a supportive person. Too afraid someone might find out she had it done I guess.

    Anyone in East Texas

Hi Just a girl, I know it's been a while since your post but have you had your surgery yet or have you decided who to use? I am using Dr Hambric but I Know both him and Dr Meyer from working at one of the local hospitals and would have chosen either one I've just known Dr Hambric longer so I went with him. I have friends that have used both and have all had excellent results. James
  10. I got approved last week and have a surgery date set for June 18. I'm taking my daughter to San Antonio on vacation from June 5th or 6th til the 10th which means I will have to start my liquid diet while on vacation. Not looking forward to that one bit! Luckily we are staying with my brother while we are there so I will have all of the ammenities of home. James
  11. WOW, you look great! I'm hoping for the same success as you. Congrats!
  12. Why am I brave going to SA at this time? But no way in the world would I put off getting it any later just so I don't have to be on the liquid diet while on vacation. I am ready to get it done.
