    Living Rent Free

Speak your truth! Be Authentic! Share your feelings! I am sorry you're having troubles/issues/situations in your marriage, but if this is bothering you and makes you feel sad that he isn't able to defend you to anyone friends/family/or a stranger you should say something. If others think I'm being too sensitive or too emotional because I'm saying say something, well I can't help how they think - communication is the most important in any relationship whether it be a spouse, friend, coworker, granted you can be hurt but you can also grow by telling them. I mean how is anyone ever suppose to guess what is bothering you about anything. Now if he says he doesn't care how he made you feel that speaks volumes. If your husband expects you to defend his honor in situations then it shouldn't be bother for him to do the same for you. Also I never understood how someone can tell you how to feel, like do you tell your husband how he should feel - like someone saying you're too sensitive, it was a joke just means they're trying to deflect their responsibility of their actions and words. 🫂

    Eating out after surgery

I have a card, but I never use it. I just order off the kids menu - or an appetizer all the time. Or I share. What I mean by all the time too is like over past year like 6 times hahah. I haven't eaten out much since my surgery in Jan 2020 because COVID-19 and living in California that had nothing open but takeout for a long time. I've never had a waitstaff person say no you can't order off kids menu yet, but if they did give me a hard time I think I would tell them I have dietary restrictions and ask to speak to the manager if it really became a problem. I tell as few as people as possible about my surgery - it's no one's business our medical condition.
  3. Yeah I meant when I go out (um I live in California we're still pretty much locked down still we do have some outside dinning, so really we've been out like maybe 5 times in 2020 since I've had surgery) I share his meal, I don't know if you noticed but just about any restaurant you go to has a full days of calories in them with all the sides and whatnot in one meal. So I guess if she doesn't want to share then yeah an appetizer is good but you'll still need a box I think - never force yourself to eat more than you need. I also get that your a 6ft man and I am a 5'2ft woman. But hubby and I've shared meals and he never feels deprived of getting enough food.
  4. In the beginning it was weird - like it was just mind thinking I'm hungry. Now if I feel hungry I drink some more water to see if it's that. I more feel like I try to prefuel myself if I'm going hiking - I try to eat the protein bar or drink a protein shake about 20ish minutes before I start. I have found for me if I am hiking over an hour or 2 by that second hour if I haven't eaten I feel weak. So I don't really get hungry while hiking but I get weak. I've started to feel hungry now a days but again I always make sure I check in with myself to make sure I'm truly hungry or if I just think I am. Head games - I think 🤔 my hunger is not as bad at all like before either. I use to be ravenous- HANGRY.
  5. I share meals with my husband, maybe she'll share with you. Take a protein bar with you and sit with her. I understand eating out is the most social thing we do. But try not to eat FF, if you want fillers find protein bars you like and have one. Drinkable protein shakes, add a piece of cheese if it feels it's not enough. My husband always laughs because I always have "pocket cheese" 1 ounce tillamok cheddar squares with me everywhere (just in case i happen to get hungry) Or 1 mozzarella string cheese. Everyone just wants you to be successful- I have had Taco Bell - 1 taco bell supreme taco without shell and they put it in a bowl for me. I've tried to have 2 but never can finish it. I've had cheeseburger without bun from McDonald's as well. I ordered from kids menu from Red Robin had grilled chicken fingers (which was just cut up grilled chicken breast) Other than that I don't eat fast food. Out on the road there are so many protein shakes which will give you 30 grams of protein that are so much better as a lunch option. But if you don't think it will work for you, then it won't. Lasting life changes. I'm still only a year into this and I drink either protein water or protein collagen water every day as a meal. On my yearly check up which was 2 weeks ago surgeon was impressed with my blood work all levels great.
  6. I don't know if it happened or not, I didn't weigh myself for the first 3 weeks after I left the hospital - you need to be focusing on protein, vitamins, fluids - water. I know I know you want to have lost weight - seems like you should have, but yes pumped full of fluids and you don't need to feel bloated to be retaining lots of water. Also, I'm pretty sure no bowel movements yet either? As other people have said it and I know easier said then done, get away from the scale. Also I suggest picking a day to weigh - for me I weigh every Tuesday because that was my surgery date. If I happen to step on a scale any other day then that day, I don't freak out if I am up or celebrate if I am down, those weights don't count. Also if you've looked at other posts on the forums, after about week 6-8 a stall that happens for most people. Or sometimes it's only .2 losses for a moment and that freaks people out too.

    800 calorie

If you think 800 is too much for your body, right now then you should not do it. I get that she is the nutritionist but it's your body and no two bodies are alike. I wasn't anywhere near 800 calories one month out. I am almost at a year and some days still only hit 800. On days I have longer workouts I do hit 900-1,000 calories but I am almost at a year now. Most importantly how do you feel, I don't think you should feed yourself or force more on yourself than you need. Also no stretching your stomach, you need to really stop ✋ and listen to your body. Gosh I don't know how you get in 90 ounces of water, I struggle with that every day. Keep up the good work.

How's it going now? I feel like I am eating more but still staying under my calorie intake that is recommended- I try super hard to listen to my body. I try also to think 🤔 am I really hungry or am I thirsty.... Try maybe eating healthy snacks to help eat less calories. Do you think you're stretching your stomach? Is that why it's worrying you or are you going over your calorie allotment for the day too?

WHEN did you start REALLY WORKING OUT?

So walking I know it sounds so boring - is the best workout ever. But I think I was at least 8 weeks, I know I tried riding bike but it was too soon. I didn't ride my bike until like 10 weeks and felt confident I wouldn't hurt myself. Hiking like with incline and such wasn't for 12 weeks either. Yoga w/strength training happened closer to 16 weeks. I didn't want to injure myself as that was when Covid was not good here (which in hindsight sounds stupid because it's worse now) and I had no desire to go to doctors. I would just try what you want and stop if it actually feels like it hurts. Don't strain yourself or push yourself too hard, but yeah go get it GURL!

    Weight loss amount

Not sure how much you were expecting to lose in in 2 weeks before surgery but that's 1.28 pounds per day. I lost like 4 pounds before my WLS - on a freaking liquid diet. I mean seriously how is that even possible?! But it is what it is, now after surgery I have "good" weeks of losses and what I consider a "bad" week with loss of nothing or .2 gain. Bodies are weird, there is no real "normal" because everyone is so different. Just stick with your program as best you can - I think you're going to do great if you lost 18 before surgery. Just omg don't weigh yourself right after surgery and getting home. They pump you full of fluids. I don't think I weighed myself for 3 full weeks after surgery.

    How do you Cope?

Walk in nature for stress, especially by a beach or water (lake/river), you can try mediation, not sure when you had surgery but yoga 🧘‍♀️ Do fun things not involving food - paint rocks, watch a movie, put a puzzle together, listen to music and dance, ride bike.

    Regained weight support

I'm going to tell you why I think you stay active, carrying the extra weight that we have for how ever many years that we did is tiring. It also I think causes some self confidence issues for some. I find it so much easier/ so less taxing to say hike 4 miles. Then when I did it pre-surgery, because I weigh 80+ pounds less, which is huge. I can actually bend and do things with my body which I had never been able to do before. Maybe it's like that for you too. I'm constantly amazed at how much I can do and not be as tired as the week before.

    January 2020 Surgery Folks

Well I am at 7 months out from my surgery now. I think I am on track as I just passed 80 pounds lost mark. Hair is starting to thin 🥺 so guess I am going to be one of the stats of people who lost hair. I was hoping it wasn't going to be me, but what else can I do. My birthday is coming up and I am excited but also it's weird 2020 so not having a big party like normal. All partying will be virtual via zoom. One thing that has also happened is the shorts I bought 2 months ago at beginning of June are very baggy now and can almost just fall down by themselves- so I've had a super productive summer. Dang that's just crazy. Thrift stores around here aren't open and I wish they were so I could just shop for some properly fitting clothes in the interim sizes. I've been doing Yoga for the past 13 days every day, it's a 10 minute morning yoga challenge I found on Youtube and I really feel like I'm getting stronger by adding it to my workout routine. I feel like I am also stretching and becoming way more limber than before. What's new with everyone? How are things going in your journey? Got any new exercise routines you're doing, any new activities?

Same right after surgery because of all the fluids they pump in - I gained weight too but with a week that plus more was gone.
