What I do is quickly look for the smallest piece and one that is mostly crust. I haven't had a problem with it. I figure we'll be blessed for doing what we're supposed to be doing.

My skin really itched also. I rub some cortizone-10 onto my skin but not directly on the incisions just all around it. It seems to do the trick.

I didn't have to do the pre-op diet either. All I had to do was to show 1 visit for 5 years (did not have to be consecutive) from a Doctors office showing my weight. I was really stressed because I couldn't find one year and when I called my insurance company they said the years didn't matter as long as I was overweight at the time of the visit. I used to be a boredom eater but now I am so full for so many hours that the thought of food turns my stomach. I can only eat a tiny amount. I've learned that as soon as I hear that thought "I think I'm getting full", I push the plate away and toss the rest of the food on it because in about 15-20 minutes, I will be really full. If I eat the rest, I'm sick to my stomach.

Swimming Pool.... how soon after??
sailingirl replied to ImaGoofball's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me not to go into the pool until my incisions were completely healed and the scabs were gone. He didn't want me to resume my laps for at least 8 weeks. I could walk inside the pool for resistance before the 8 weeks were up. -
I thought it was just me that was having a hard time with this recovery. Back in August of 2007, I had part of my colon removed and was in the hospital for a week. I don't know if it was the drugs that made me forget my colon recovery but this recovery rivals what I went through with it. This recovery started out great and after day 2 went downhill sharply. I was banded on 6/6/08. I went to the doctor today and they unfilled my band completely and I feel 1000 times better. Hopefully my recovery will go quickly from here on.

I'm the primary Secretary in our ward. I do everything mentioned above but I don't conduct opening exercises or sharing times. One thing I do that wasn't on the list is I help the President keep track of the budget and make sure we don't overspend.

Chapstick. I forgot to bring mine. My lips were so cracked and sore and they had me drink lemon flavored crystal light which totally burned. I couldn't wait to get home to use mine. Also make sure you fill your pain med prescription before hand. I forgot to do that also. My poor husband had to run out at night and get it filled.

Just been banded 6/9/08

I've been having pain in my chest everyday since my surgery (6/6). It happens about 20 minutes after I finish eating. This bout that I going through right now has been hurting for the last 5 hours. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow. This can't be normal. -
Hi, I'm fairly new to lapband land. I had my surgery on the 6th of June. I'm still a little sore but at least my bruises are starting to fade. I can't wait til I hit the mushies stage. I'm about sick of broth. I started my journey back in January but due to family emergencies, I had to put it off until April. Then I found out that all of my paperwork was lost and had to start all over. By the time I finally got all of the testing done, it was the end of May. The two week Liquid Protein diet was a killer. The shakes made me so ill. I'm still trying to learn to listen to my body when it tells me that it's full. That's been the hardest part. I am getting better at listening but my pet elephant is quick to sit on my chest when I don't listen. I'm grateful that there is this board where I can see others that are going through the exact same thing I am. I am taking an online nutrition class. One of the guys says he doesn't believe emotional eating is real, that if someone says they emotional eat, they just don't have will power. I'm still trying to think of a calm response to him.

I use a rice pack that I heat up in the microwave. It does an okay job. I try to walk, walk, walk because that seems to work the best. I've read somewhere that the pain should go away around the second week. The tightness in my chest bothers me more than my shoulder pain though.

There is a procedure called a panniculectomy that removes the excess skin. Most insurances will cover this because of the infections that happen between the folds of skin. I googled it and found some really interesting articles.

I'm only a week into my lapband journey, but I know that if I drink too much broth or eat too much yogurt, I feel so sick. The trick that I'm trying to learn is to listen to my body's telling me enough the first time around. In the past I would not listen to my body until the third or even fourth time it would tell me I was full.
