three days post op and I'm miserable...
GAjeepGirl replied to GAjeepGirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
that is exactly what I had done - the band has been out for almost five years though. I started taking my omeprazole again - hopefully that will kick in again soon. But the nausea - even mega doses of zofran barely touch it. I'm trying to be strong, but boy is it hard! -

I had RNY - they even kept me an extra night because of the nausea and lack of liquid consumption. I just want to bawl my eyes out. -

Had my bypass done Thursday, but now I’m plagued with nausea and heartburn. They won’t go away- had to stay another night. Everything else here is fine -
March 2020 Surgery Folks Come On in!

At the hospital waiting on doc...scheduled for 7:30...so ready to start this new chapter -
Good evening, Hi everybody, I'm newbie here, currently waiting for revision approval. I'm a Lap Band failure case - Had it in for 11 years (actually loved it - it was a great tool), and got to goal weight after 18 months. I kept it off without much issue, until it eroded into my stomach, and pretty much almost killed me. This was the third issue that I had with the band. Two port infections, lead to port revisions, and one MRSA infection. It was finally removed in 2015, and sadly, now I'm back up to where I was before my banding. I'm currently in my 5th month of 6 monitoring/counseling, for pre-op revision approval for bypass. Unfortunately, I've also since gained 6lbs. since I started that monitoring [during the holidays]. I know that I'm being a bit, "It's my last _______, and I want to enjoy it" . I've followed every class, every appointment, and every health test, but still have not heard back about my "March" surgery date for bypass. I have one more nutrition appointment as required by BCBS, and one more evening 'STRIVE' support counseling meeting that must be done for revision surgeries as per my doctor's office. I'm just panicked that I've been going through all of this, but have not heard anything regarding a yes or no at this point. I'm currently at a BMI of 39.4 with sleep apnea (on CPAP), severe heartburn, failed back fusion surgery, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and am in LOTS of pain - 100% disabled since 1995, so Medicare is my primary with BCBS of GA secondary. Has anybody gone through the six month pre surgery hoops only to get turned down? I'm just so worried that it's going to be a no go decision. I really appreciate that this page/group is here, and look forward to hearing from y'all! Thanks 🙂

as much as I would love to attend, Warner Robins is well over two hours one way 😞 I'm very happy that my doctor's office also hosts support groups of many different types. -

Suggestions for "must have items" in my hospital bag?
GAjeepGirl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Going in on the 12th at 6AM and getting things together for my bag. I know that my pre-determined stay is only supposed to be for one night, but I know as well as anybody that things like this can change instantly. Soooo...Besides ChapStick and a phone charger, what are some of the "must have items" OR "I wish I had packed _________" items for your hospital stay? -

Anyone Have March Surgery Date?😊
GAjeepGirl replied to Lily66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are the same day! I thought that I was having hormone issues because they made me stop all of my menopause replacement hormones two weeks ago - so now I'm starving and flashing - but I think you have me beat with that possible cycle start date! -

What does full feel like after bypass?
GAjeepGirl replied to Rocky_Mountain_Mama's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
THANKS! I'm not vegan either ( I tried but I missed my eggs, milk and cheese too much). I'll definitely look into the tofu and try it again! -
What does full feel like after bypass?

"With the lap band I NEVER had that comfortable feeling of fullness. I always felt queasy rather than full and vomited often, depending how the first bite landed. I ALWAYS regurgitated meat of any kind, that's why I'm a vegetarian today". JRT Mom, can I ask if you've had any issues trying to get your protein being vegetarian? I've been a veg head for 27 years - and had no issues when I had my band in - (it was removed because it eroded completely into my stomach after 11 years being in). I'm just worried that I won't be able to find a good protein source that is workable since I hate tofu. Any suggestions? THANKS!!! -

Pre op testing completed yesterday - day 48934 of liquids (okay it just FEELS that way), I'd say I'm as ready as I'll ever be! So excited, but a bit scared to be honest! -

March 12th for me (it was supposed to be the 5th, but I would have been the last patient for the day - with a late afternoon operation!!! They asked if I wanted the first available for the next week and I agreed. Tomorrow is my pre-op testing. I had my lap band removed in 2015, and I'm having "revision" to bypass. I'm beyond excited, but I worry that something is going to jinx it. One week of two required weeks of liquid pre op diet, and no replacement hormones has made me a bit grumpy to say the least! I remain skeptical until I'm on that OR table, sound asleep! 😛 -

Thanks for the reply - I'm in North Central Ga - near Athens. Great area! I'm a total KETO failure, but I think that a lot of that has to do with me being a vegetarian for 28 years. It's hard to be veggie keto when every model of the program is telling you to eat bacon, and pork rinds for treats. I still can't help but be worried. I am going to call tomorrow and see if there is any news or the like regarding my case. I honestly thought six months would drag by slowly, but It's almost February already - March will be here soon! Fingers crossed for the approval news!
