1. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />I was banded March 13 2008 Ok so when I was last at the doctors I told them that I had been feeling extremely tire and have also been bruising easily and craving ice. So they did some blood work which they got back yesterday. Turns out that my Iron count is very low. Before anyone asks I take Centrum Chewable which has Iron every day. I also take b12 daily and biotin. I also eat protein at each meal and eat spinach and Broccoli every day. All which are iron rich. So now they want me to start taking an iron supplement. I also need to go back in a few weeks for more blood work to see if the iron supplement has helped. They said they will test to see if it is Vitamin deficiency Anemia or Iron deficiency anemia.. Apparently these is a difference between the 2. Has anyone else had this problem? I was banded March 13 2008 Thank you so much

Swelling after being filled?

Oh I am so sorry you are goign threw this but I am the same way a fill causing my stoma to swell. Fine at the doctors office and for the rest of the first day the following day can hardley get coffee down. The last fill I got was 1cc and I had to go back in a few days later for an unfill. They took out .5 cc and I was much better. Sounds like you are just very sensitive to fills. I would suggest getting much smaller fills in the future. Also if you are unable to get anything down and are sliming and pb'ing then you should call your doc and get some of the fill taken out. even .2 cc's can make a world of difference. What is the diet that you are to follow after a fill? my doctor suggests just 1 day of liquids after a fill then resume eating as normal. But since I am so sensitive to fills I am now following what a longtime bander told me to do. and that is 3 days Clear Liquids 3 days full liquids then 3 days mushy. that helps withthe horrible sweeling I get And also much smaller fills. please let me know how you are doing.
3. Yes you can eat the day before a fill. Ok what my doctor has me do is only have liquids the day you are going in for the fill. So nothing solid is in your pouch. I would call and ask your doctor what they want you to do since every doctor is different. Also ask what you should follow after a fill. I have heard so many different diets to follow after a fill on the board. Follow what your doctor want you to do. Good luck
4. Hope that the fill went well today :)

5. All doctors are different. Mine required an over night stay. Wish that I could have gone home the same day.

hypoglycemia

Ok I am hypoglycemic and do not have any issues so afar withthe band and my sugars. But I would call your doctor first thing in the morning and make an appointment for fasting blood work and a sugar test. If it is hypoglycemia its not something you want to mess with. I hope that you feel better soon.
8. When in doubt call your surgen. I would call them they are there to help you...
9. Hey Mike, For immediate relief use- Milk of Magnesia Since you are eating less you are going to have less or more infrequent BM's this is normal. or so doctor kowalski said. But adding fiber into your diet will help also. I usually drink at least one Special K protien Water everyday. It has 5 grams of protien and 5 grams of fiber. Extra protien yippi... I also use Fiber Sure. one heaping teaspoon has 5 grams of fiber. Benefiber is also good but you actually get more bang for your buck with the Fiber Sure since Benefiber only has 3 grams of fiber in 2 teaspoons. I put in a couple of heaping teaspoons of Fiber Sure. It mixes very well in warm or room temperature drinks once it is mixed in you can't taste it at all. If mixing in COLD drinks make sure you shake it real well. You can also put it in Soup and sauses. WARNING THOUGH if you are just starting on fiber, your body needs to adjust to the extra fiber so may need some GasX for the first few days... ALSO start slow do not just go and add 30 grams of fiber to your diet the first day you will not be a happy camper. Start with 5 or 10 for a few days and Work up to it and let your body adjust or you will get the runs and very painful gas. NO FUN You also must get in enough water when doing extra fiber. SO I recommend putting a teaspoon in a 16 ounce bottle of water or whatever you want to drink. Do this a few times a day and you will get in your fiber and also get in your fluids.

Restriction-less!

Hi AppleBottom, Yes this is normal. I had very little restriction with my first fill which was also 4cc's but I have a 10cc band. Second fill was better had more restriction. then got the 3rd fill and was way to restricted I could not even get down hot coffee so had to get half of it out. Much better now I am at 6cc ina 10cc band. Just remember everyone is different. Some people get restriction with the first fill some not until the 2nd,3rd or 4th. But if you are getting fuller faster you are on your way. Next fill you should feel more restriction. Trish

fill with vomting

Ok you can or can not keep liquids down. And yes a lot of people are tighter in the morning. In the mornings if you find you are very tight try drinking warm Water, hot coffee or tea to lossen you up a bit. I get severe sweeling from fills so I have to do more then 2 days of liquids before I am able to eat. But everyone is different. Just listen to your body. I personally would give it until tomorrow only if you can get liquids down. But if you find that you can not tolerate liquids call and get some of your fill out. even .2 cc's can make a world of difference. Let me know how you do.

Frustrated....beyond belief

No worries on the ranting we all do it  And you are allowed to be frustrated. How is your restriction? I read a few of your other posts and your last was in May right? Maybe its time for another fill. Also you may want to try doing what HeatherO said up your calories a bit. eating to few calories can sometimes completely stall weightloss. I have about the same amount left to lose like you. SO we are in the same boat. Ok also how is your inch loss. Since the scale has so just not been my friend the last few weeks I have been measuring myself. And I have lost inches but no weight. So what could be happening to is you are replacing fat with muscle and muscle weight more then fat. Try measuring yourself once a week and see what you lose. ALSO STAY OFF THE SCALE FOR A FEW DAYS IT SEEMS TO BE DRIVING YOU NUTS. MY HUBBY HID MY SCALE. YOU HAVE LOST WHAT 41 POUNDS with 64 to go so you have lost half of your weight which IS AWESOME you should be very happy you are already healthier. Keep your head up. It takes time to lose. Please feel free to message me if you need to rant. Or just someone to talk to. Trish
20. Sound like you need to make an appointment with your doctor for a fill.

Frustrated....beyond belief

Sounds like you have hit PLATEAU. In anycase just continue waht you are doing and ina few weeks the scale will start moving again. Tis is your body's way of saying hold on. You can also trick your body into breaking a plateau. Change the type of exersize you do or add 15 to 20 minutes on to what you are already doing. Do a search on the forum for breaking threw plateaus. Keep going you are doing wonderful. I have not lost a darn thing in 3 weeks so I am with you. the weightloss will start again if you continue to do what you are doing.;:wink2:

my appetite is raging

Sounds like you need another fill. I was banded in March and I have had 3 fills already. going for a fourth on september 10th. Have you had any restriction at all with your previous fills? I would go and get a fill done before taking any Appetite suppressants. They are usually not safe for anyone if you have high blood pressure even the natural ones.
23. Honestly this is really a question you should be asking your doctor. If you do infact have sleep apnea you should really have a c-pap machine. my sister has sleep apnea and has the machine and she is sleeping so much better now. Explain to your doctor all of your symptoms and request that he send you for the sleep study. It can't hurt any to ask. If you choose not to and you do have sleep apnea after surgery and weightloss it should improve or go away. Good luck
24. I love your avitar picture.
